These videos are what I was just watching, you need to have the histogram touching both the left and the right part of the histogram in 99% of cases.

>HEADSHOT LIGHTING

What is the best 2 light setup for corporate style headshots?

I have a 2 light quadra kit (no modifiers) and am wondering what the best 2 light setup for corporate headshots is.

I can buy a modifier if needed. I also need a backdrop, should I just go with white?

Thanks.

One from side and one lower power fill light from the other, 60°-90° apart. Maybe a third one snooted for hair lighting.

with only two lights I would absolutely go for a 'clamshell' type of lighting
which means you use one medium sized octa or dish from above and form the lower part of the 'shell' with a reflector from below to fill in the shadows and use your second light as a hard hair light or with a white background light that shit up so it's not grey
this is not a very usual setup for that type of headshots but probably the best looking thing you can do with only two lights and any reflective material

Is 3 light ideal for this type of shot? One main, one hair and then 1 additional for the background?

Would a cheap speedlight be sufficient for lighting the background?

As a college student I find the addition of Acrobat (Paired with the document Scanner I have) and Illustrator are also useful, though I haven't used anything else in the cc suite. Illustrator is mostly to design fundraising posters etc. for my organization on campus as well as dick around in and make T-shirt designs etc. for fun.

sup /p/ I'm in a bit of a pinch. my friend who is a manager at a nightclub asked me if I can fill in for a photog who called out sick tonight. I told him I don't have much experience with this kind of photography but he insisted that he just needs somebody to be there taking photos, but if I do a good job there could be more work. I'm suppose to get there in a little less than two hours, so some quick advice would help me greatly. would it be bad to just get there with a nifty fifty and a flash and just start shooting away?

please halp B4 I embarrass myself

A nifty 50 and a flash sounds fine to me

If you've got a diffuser for the flash that'd be even better. Same if you've got a slightly wider lens - you're going to taking photos of people up close, and you're gonna be taking group shots so a wider lens (think 35-40mm equiv) would be perfect. But not necessary obviously, you can always take a couple steps back

Only in resolution terms. The 5D MkII AF system is absolutely lousy for a camera of its price.
