Nothing of particular interest in here that I saw.

There is no engagement in these photos, they are very poorly thought out snapshots and your processing is all over the place yet never good/pleasing. There also seems to be a lot of noise in your photos.

Have you looked at local colleges to see if they run night school classes so you can learn the basics a little better? An intro book may also help, but I think hands on learning is much better for photography.

Keep shooting though, it's a long journey from being a beginner like yourself to being a really good photographer, many people underestimate how hard it can be.

This one is okay, probably the best of the set due to odd proportions but dead on front facing photos of odd buildings have been done to death.

>>3086279
This is also decent as a subject but it just feels like such a lazy execution.

I can feel in this set that you were walking around and went "Hey, look at that." And then took each photo from exactly the spot where you first saw the subject. At least that's what a lot of these compositions feel like.

If you don't care about your photos why should we?

Very unlikely to be an intentional joke. Just backroad innocence.
I find most of my subjects wandering down roads that I would otherwise never have a reason to drive down. Seldom used county roads can get wacky. Once, I found someone had hauled a doublewide trailer into the middle of the road and turned the road into their driveway effectively; presumably without permission.

To be honest many photos can lead to interesting discussion, it just depends on who is involved. If you're part of a nature conservation movement, you're into topography/earth sciences or nature a simple scene on the mountainside can evoke all sorts of emotions and thoughts especially if it's done right. Try not to shit on photos because they try to simply look nice because truthfully, there's a lot to be said about what's inside many images if you're interested and have something to say. As the saying goes, a picture says a thousand words.

Why so many trees photos? Do you want to achieve a Diane Arbus-t status? Hehe JK ;) Great captures!

Kudzu is also quite tasty, and good for you. Yeah getting rid of it is impossible as you said. So mightaswell eat it.
As to the photo they are just snapshots. They are like the ones I have shot as merely memory shots, so nothing special. Looks like anywhere here in the south. But they are smi interesting to look at.
What kills them is the perspective.
>>
>>3089771
>they are just snapshots
"just" snapshots, or an intentional vernacular snapshot aesthetic?

You know, that's a real thing. Trying to make photos look effortless and honest through deliberate "error."

Some would even say it's one of the defining traits of the Southern Gothic style.

When you've viewed enough of isi's threads, you start to see recurring subjects in different seasons and stages of overgrowth, and to try to get "creative" with your perspective simply ruins the simple charm of the style.
>>
“Walker Evans: A Vernacular Style”

CENTRE POMPIDOU
PARIS
Through August 14
Curated by Clément Chéroux
While Walker Evans is known today primarily for the austere formalism of his documentary-style photographs from the 1930s, this sprawling retrospective—the first ever for Evans in France—argues for a different view. The real significance of Evans’s photographic work, it claims, lies in how he taps into the incantatory power of old weird America, the folky vernacular culture evident in the outmoded and overlooked: handpainted signs, rural wooden churches built without architects, rotogravure news photos, penny postcards, Polaroid snapshots. A flaneur of the American byways, Evans not only photographed these subjects with attentive zeal but was also a passionate collector of commonplace cultural artifacts, dozens of which are included in the exhibition. For him, as for the Surrealists, such found objects and images were revelatory documents of everyday life, cast in opposition to successive waves of modernist sameness."

http://www.geoffwinningham.com/
http://www.getty.edu/art/collection/artists/6612/william-christenberry-american-1936-2016/
and countless others

this is the tradition of photography that isi is clearly inspired by. To mistake it as "simple snapshots" is a reflection of what one might call a narcissistic need to leave your "mark" on a photograph.

Lmao at that building's proportions.

How do you get around to the places you photograph? Walk/drive/bicycle? Also, does taking photographs attract a lot of attention from passerby? When I was taking photos around my hometown I remember that everyone would always stop and ask me what I was taking a picture of--not in a suspicious way, but as a sort of friendly display of interest. Of course, they would then universally suggest that I take pictures of the town's single, depressing gimmick of a tourist attraction (The town boasts of having the X-est Z in all of Y).
>>
>>3091381
>paranoid schizophrenia

Is it just me or does this anon have some sort of personal vendetta against schizophrenic people? Like, why are you always bringing up schizophrenia in your insults? You seem seriously bigoted against people with mental health issues. Anyways, I would suggest that you address whatever is troubling you directly, i.e. in real life, instead of sublimating it in your posting style on chinese cartoon image boards.

I like some "snapshots" because they manage to make busy compositions or ordinary things look pleasing somehow. If it's deliberate in a way without being overly stylized it can look good. My hesitation is with praising any old thing simply because it eschewed traditional rules about composition and framing and opted to shot from eye-level, slightly off center.
