Hi /o/
I'm finally going to be able to afford my first performance car and after months of thinking I've narrowed it down to the Golf R and BMW m135i, both manual and 5 door. Im incredibly stuck on which one to pick? Both have similar price used, both have similar speed, however the golf seems more practical.
Im stumped, any help would be appreciated?

used cayman.
>>16396612
Get a test drive.

A golf is a golf, boring, plain and simple, everybody will see the car and say "it's just some golf" unless you floor it all the time they wont say the difference
But a BMW m1 is a gypsy car, gifted to you by papa gipsy
Dang this is indeed a hard choice.
Mayhaps if you like to wear Tracksuits you are better suited for the BMW.
At least they don't cheat you (openly) on the exhaust gas emmisions. And that M is always recognisable.
The Race Of Gentlemen
A bunch or 20's hipster-fucks racing on a beach, thinkin, they;re all cool and shit.
What would be an entry that fits the rules and would turn some heads.

That's unbelievably autistic
The P-38 first flew in '39. So with a flathead they'd better let this in.
This fits the rules,
I think...
If it rolls off the beach it also just becomes a submarine!

nice try lmao
Hey /o/, I want to buy another car but most cars on AutoTrader, CarGuru, and even Craigslist seem to be extremely overpriced in my area compared to other states. I've also noticed that the classifieds on the car-specific forums seem to be fairly-priced but they have no organization. Should I travel across the country to save a couple of thousand dollars? Are there sensible ways to ship cars? What do you guys think is the best way to buy a new used car?

just haggle with the guy. doesn't matter what the price says, make an offer.
its part of the game.
look what they found in Italy
so yeah, i have no fucking idea of what career to go, the only 2 things that i have some interest on is to be a mechanic or a programmer
i know i wont get rich with neither of those, but for what i see, programmers make way more money than mechanics, and that's what is making me overthink if the 2 years of tech school will be worth anything
> just do what you love
i like both things, way more into cars, but if im gonna make 50 bucks a year in that area, im fine to make it just a hobby
working on cars is good way to hate them while making shit money
>>16393409
dont become a car mechanic, instead become an airplane mechanic as they get paid better and you even if you hate working on planes its not like youll drive a plane home and work on one on the weekends.
>>16393409
You gotta already love taking shit apart and putting it back together.
I DIY on my Volvo and I hate European cars with every gut of my being regarding maintenance. Still fun to drive though desu.
$6500 budget for my next car.
19 y.o. college student in NJ.
First car was a mk4 gti and currently drive a 03 g35 coupe which I am selling this weekend. I think i enjoyed the mk4 gti much more due to the lightweight and turbo.
Requirements:
Decent in snow (fwd or awd) (Why im selling g35)
Manual
Decent on gas (another reason im selling g35)
Prefer a turbo car (miss the boost life)
Prefer a hatchback (miss the cargo space)
Fairly Reliable (I can turn a wrench but I don't want to be underneath my car every other weekend)
Nothing too old, 2000+. May consider a 95-99 car.
Won't be modifying too much, bolt ons and a tune at the most. So far i'm looking at mk5 gti's. I've also considered an rsx type s. Any other suggestions?
Just get a civic.
>>16393388
I want Something a little more fun than that. I've driven my cousins ep3 Si a lot and it just feels dry to me.
>>16393382
It is going to be hard to meet all those conditions with one vehicle.
I would recommend a 2004-2008 Subaru Forester XT.
>2.5L DOHC Flat 4 turbo
>faster than WRX of the same time
>AWD
>wagon
but it does have some downsides
>popular with dykes
>The transmissions are the same as in the WRX, so they may as well be made of glass.
Bootleg Bugatti based on 2001 Mercury Cougar. Personally I'd much rather own a real older Ferrari or Aston Martin for that money.

lol wtf is that shit
>>16391883
there are a lot of nice cars you could buy for $60k lol
>>16391883
lol i love how they put a real picture of a buggati with the list price
i dont know how any one smart enough to have 60k to blow would be dumb enough to buy that
Would you buy a Polish supercar?
If you had to have one, would you rather buy the Polish car or some $1mil sandnigger car built in Saudi Arabia?
Post more retarded supercars that nobody in their right mind would buy but Prince Al-Waleed has already preordered.
>>16391815
i am of polish heratidge and would love to own that car if given the chance
>>16391815
Let me guess, it uses some Volvo engine or an LS1
>>16391899
Just looked it up and it actually does use an LS1.
Kek
What happened to all of the Japanese performance cars from the 80s/90s to early 00s, the cars without any worthy successors, like Supra, RX7, 240/200/180SX, Integra, Celica, Eclipse, WRX STI, EVO, etc? I understand the need for safety measures and increasing fuel prices but still.
>>16377701
People buy sports cars when the economy is booming. Companies tighten belts and cancel sports car lines when there's a downturn. The Japanese crash in 89, dotcom in 00, and subprime in 08 hit auto companies hard. All three of those crashes marked the last generation of a lot of sports cars worldwide not just in Japan.
>>16377701
The RX-9 is coming
The Toyota Supra is also coming with a BMW engine
The WRX STI is still being made and is getting a new engine
The EVO is dead
We have the Nissan GT-R
Also we have the Civic Type R, which owns 5 drive records at European Tracks, including the Burger King.
So, stop being an over dramatic faggot.
emissions also had a part to do with why companies scaled back their sporty car production
at the time when these cool cars were being built was at a time when companies could afford to be able to design and sell cars not so much for profit, but for building the companies image. such as nissan entering the WRC with their GTiR in the early 90s.
as soon as this economic bubble burst in the early 2000s the companies put a lot less money into their image building cars and more into the ones that made them money
Why won't people admit that the meme triangle engine is a failed design? It has awful efficiency and the 'hurr durr less reciprocating mass means higher rpms' has been proven to be a complete meme.
cuz its cool regardless
But it's different and cool
it's kinda fun when you drive one, the reliability blows but there's a reason why people like them
it just revs forever
>pic related, is the car I'm looking at
>161k miles
>$4,500
This is a 2008 Jetta Wolfsburg Edition with a manual transmission. I'm looking for a first car and I'm wondering if this is worth it. The mileage feels kind of like a lot, but the low price might match it.
What do you think, /o/?
>>16396710
>Jetta
>A USED Jetta
I hope you enjoy your cooling system breaking down every month and being stranded a lot. Unless the previous owner took care of it like a baby.
>even considering a VAG product out of warranty
>>16396731
I'll take that as a no. I guess I should look for a corolla.
>Sorry for making you guys work.
Love ya.
/o/ gotta have fun!!!

"Fuck me Senpai"

>Protip: You can't
>>16396115
Sure. Looks hella good but lacks the practicality of a 190. Such a based car.
