Rear main seal leaks, intermediate shaft bearing failures are common. otherwise pretty good car.

Purist memery, late 90s/early 2000s interior (they had to cut costs like mad if they wanted to survive until they came up with the wildly popular Cayenne), small chance of catastrophic engine failure.
All of this can be fixed/prevented and they're probably the best value Porsches you can buy right now along with Boxsters and maybe Caymans.

Never owned a rotary engine vehicle. Really want an rx7 and not sure if i should look for an ls swapped one since i grew up with v8's or try dealing with a rotary. I hear they have to be rebuilt often.

No, just changing the seals very carefully every 70k-80k miles

What is wrong with VR engines? They seem to have better packaging than both inline and wide-angle V engines.
70 posts and 23 images submitted.
>>
They're heavy as fuck and can't break 200hp. Even a GM 4.3 is an engineering marvel compared to that piece of shit.
>>
The 3.6 weighs about 400lbs and makes 300hp.
>>
The design of the head lends itself to warping from corner to corner, leading to leakage and complete head gasket failure. Doesnt help that the package itself does not deal with heat well, as it is so compact.

So, complexity, longevity, price. It is like a lot of german engineering. Very good theoretically, not very good in real world application.

Great bike.
Not freeway capable
At 32000 miles youll probably need a rebuild, or at minimum a new timing chain and guides.
$1800 is too expensive

For $1800 you can get newer and nicer bikes.

If that's your thing go for it, but I personally wouldn't spend a penny before I got multiple opinions and some kind of actual improvement (be it hp, ft lbs, kg or handling) was confirmed
