What are some basic upgrades that make a huge difference and are very under appreciated? I'll start with upgraded motor and transmission mounts.
>>16392747
Don't see how unless yours are blown. Anyway:
1. Replacing and bleeding your fucking brake fluid.
2. Tightening up your throttle cable - only relevant to old shitboxes.
Basically, everything comes down to keeping your car in good shape, and only after do "mods" become a factor.
>>16392772
they remove slop. factory mounts usually balance stiffness with ride comfort. a car with solid mounts will have almost no power loss via the engine twisting on acceleration but will rattle you to death
>>16392780
It's not the rattle-you-to-death that's the concern - it's the fact that shit will wear down faster.
Anyway, good mounts also make shifting smoother.
Red pill me on this car /o/.
from what ive read its a bug eye WRX with the steering rack from the STI, upgraded suspension, and upgraded interior from Saab.
Found a 2005 aero with 120k miles on it for $6k.
>>16392665
if it was taken care of it will be a good car. saabaru for sure
literally a WRX with a saab badge

Is learning to drive within a week possible?
What's the best setting, method, and tips/videos to do it?
>>16392645
Definitely. A shit car and any open area

2 out of 3 people in the US are licensed to drive a motor vehicle.
It can't be that fucking hard.
Auto or stick?
Hey /o/, earlier today I ran over a huge chunk of metal or something on the highway, came out of nowhere. It seriously damaged what I think is my exhaust tunnel brace(?) and ripped some of the bolts out of the frame. How screwed am I, and how much will this cost If I need to repair it?
Pic related is an intact image of the part that was damaged.
>>16392631
If your pipes are fine don't worry about it. Just buy a new brace and put it on
Does that part actually do anything? I'd say fuck it and ignore
>>16392653
Same.

Fast forward 20 years and it's never moved. I'm not sure on the year but it's an auto, 100 percent original. Red on red and 5.0 HO badges and all. Front driver side impact. Hoods pushed up about 5 inches in the middle but everything from the hood back is square and works perfectly. It's got a thick layer of grime on it because it literally hasn't moved since it was parked 25~ or so years ago.
Now should I go through the trouble of tracking down my uncle (or whatever it's unclear) Peewee (real name) and trying to get it off him. What's it worth at best, maybe 500$ ? I figured the trans and rear end should cover that. Plus the motor if the blocks not split should get maybe another 500. Basically part it out. Thoughts?
Excuse the sentence structure or lack thereof. I'm extremely sleep deprived. Pic similar but stock wrecked and not a drop top

Pick one.
Need a college commuter that will need to be able to make a trip from the east coast to the mid west (1500 miles or so) about 6 times a year. Lots of snow and ice in both these areas. I have found both of these cars in my budget (3300) and need to buy one tommorrow, and am looking for experiences that anybody has with either of these. Don't recommend other cars, these are my only two options.
2007 Scion has 100k miles, fwd, manual gearbox
2005 Saturn vue has a Honda V6 auto transmission which I have heard are prone to failure. Also has AWD
Any insight? Thanks
TL;DR Need a college commuter that can deal with snow / ice, will either be Scion TC w/ snow tires or Saturn Vue w/ all wheel drive
The honda powered Vues came with a manual honds gearbox. Pick one up.

post your local craigslist.
>>16392432
Only automatics were offered with the honda V6 according to everything I've seen on the forums and wikipedia
are regular imprezas worthwhile?
I rocked an old OBS for a number of years and it was the champion of utility and fun to shitbox-hoon as well. For the price, would buy again.
Regular impreza I guess if you don't have much scratch and for some reason just like it or want point and drive AWD. Legacy wagon seems the more popular option among that crowd since it has a comfier back seat, more cargo room, and is still similarly hoonable.
>>16392080
no. buy a used accord v6 for <10k.
>>16392080
they come in manuals now, more fun than a civic or mazda 3
As a fun daily driver, should I get a mr2 aw11 or an old mazda miata mx-5
I don't know too much about cars yet, the aw11 looks fun and AESTHETIC af, but I think might be too much for me to handle.
I love how both look, I can pick either one up for similar price where I live, but which is more reliable, better on gas, and easy / fun to work on?
Also, how well does the miata handle off road?
>>16391832
Miata
Don't take either off road
>>16391906
Why not?
They seem to have a short enough wheelbase, and it wouldn't be anything extreme like climbing boulders, just back road muddy bumps and climbs
>>16392515
The aw11 has a longer wheelbase fwiw
Hey /o/, is it good to feather the clutch during traffic?

Ride your brakes down a hill for 5 minutes going 3 mph.
Then ask yourself if that would be good for your clutch too.

What will I be in for?
Will I pass?
Haven't rode a motorcycle since I had a 90cc dirtbike when I was 10
>>16391013
>What will I be in for?
You'll probably learn something, and have fun doing it. If you're not required by law to take it, then you'll be in a class full of people who actually want to be there. All of the instructors of varying ages I've met so far have been nice and helpful.
>Will I pass?
If you can follow simple instructions, yes. They teach as if you've never been on a bike before, so even if you know some things I'd suggest keeping an open mind throughout.
