>>1413772
I´m gonna get a 35kw licence myself next year but i reckon starting with a 250 or ~400 will be fine.
I will either get some japanese sportbike 250-300´s or a 400 sumo.
>>1407032
Non bike guy here, what causes that?
>>1415099

>>1415099
tl;dr a tank slapper is a quick and repeating oscillation of the handle bars, usually caused by input on the bars (either by the rider or the road surface, or other external variable) while the front wheel is light, like during acceleration.
The bike receives this input, and since the bike is a natural gyro, it tries to bring itself to its 'neutral' position (bars straight) but goes past the neutral position, and farther in the opposite direction. This is called negative dynamic stability. To fix a tank slapper, put more weight on the front wheel without putting any more input on the bars. Or, you can pop a sikk willie.

I highly recommend not starting on a 125, especially not if you want a 125 because you think you can't handle anything bigger. Honestly, 300cc is the new gold standard for learners, and I recommend getting your first bike for as cheap as possible. But if you are set on getting a 125, I recommend a Grom, Rebel 125, Aprilia RS125 (that's a two stroke), or a Yamaha R125 (that's a four stroke). Pick your favorite style, basically.

How hard is it to pick up a bike that's dropped? I don't ride, so I have no frame of reference for how much they weigh.
Is it a one person lift or do you need another person to help?
>>1421038
I can "dead-lift" my 400lb ex500 from its side to a standing position, but for heavier bikes, you need to do this to lift them:
https://youtu.be/cEqrxg3kC9o
>>1421054
'heavier bikes' meaning absolutely fucking massive 1300cc+ cruisers with a tare weight of 300kg+
I can lift the 250kg GSX650F up from flat without doing that
>>1421067
Yeah, that's why I said heavier bikes lol
That technique works with all bikes, but lifting it while facing it and "deadlifting" it depends on your personal bike and strength.

I don't even understand how this happens. If I over-apply the brakes, my rear end just starts raising. At no point does my front tire want to wash out like that
>>1421038
It's pretty fucking hard if you don't know how to lift them correctly or are weak. With that said, it will feel pretty easy if you're picking it up just after a crash when you have a bunch of adrenaline pumping.
Source: crashed my 250 and picked it back up out of a ditch by the handle bars like it was some plastic toy from Walmart. Then I dropped my 250 while wrenching on it in my garage and I struggled A LOT to get the fucking thing back up
>>1422446
thing is, you can see him anticipating the driver going the same way as him but then suddenly steer in to go across. i would have made the same mistake but i would most like slowed down enough to make a emergency stop until i just barely hit the car
>>1427962
Must be weight thing. Just like you're unlikely to wash out with bicycle, if the bike and person are light, they lift away from ground.
Also, might be your posture and reaction to braking. Maybe your body shifts forward heavily due to braking force, while others push away from handlebars.
During the training I almost always activated ABS and skidded front on emergency braking exercise and only once, when i was so tired I let myself slip forward on seat my rear rised.

>>1422255
Throttling would have done 2 things bad for him:
1)increased his speed, and therefore increased his turning radius
2)take the force vector between his tires and the road and point it NOT perpendicular to the path of travel, to the center of the turn, meaning that traction is wasted accelerating when it could be used for turning
The only reason braking during a turn is bad is because it uses traction to brake, when that traction could be used to make your turn tighter/keep you from skidding out. However throttling while you are failing a turn is even worse.
>>1422446
>>1427975
I think from the car's point of view, he checked both ways then started to leave the parking lot, then after he's committed the biker finished his left turn and appears on the street, but the car is not watching that lane anymore, and the motorcyclist is just going too fast. I can see in the webm that the car starts to leave the parking lot right as the biker finishes his turn and gets into the same lane of traffic of the car.
>>1428311
I agree with this guy.
Bike was going way to fast for a car doing shady shit driving like they are lost.
Car is a shit person for pulling a weird ass u-turn or left to go around the divider. not really sure what to call it.

That's not true at all. All it takes is the car to do something suddenly - which is exactly what he did. The rider was not, in any way, doing anything wrong.
>>1431722
at least he kind of tried to look through the corner.
>meep meep
>>1430898
what are you reading from your phone?
>>1428311
Honestly the car should have checked again before cutting across 2 lanes and the biker only got up to 32mph which likely wasn't speeding. The car would legally be at fault BUT if I were the motorcyclist in that situation I would have slowed down when the car started out with that weird maneuver just in case he did pull that so I could avoid it.

The first drop is hard to figure out. My best guess is he put his left foot out too far with the wrong footwear and lost grip, so the bike just fell out from under him.
The second drop is easy to do, if you let the weight go past equilibrium to the opposite side of where you're walking the bike. Always keep the weight on your side of the bike, into your hip with your legs braced.

>>1422274

>>1436956
Reaction time. If I have the time to hit my horn button, I usually have enough time to maneuver away from the hazard instead. Probably thought the car was sticking to the right lane so he went left, then the car veered over for that u-turn
>>1436936
yeah small deviations to avoid rough patches. even in sandy deserts you might want to take different lines over the terrain. the only place i have seen where you could go straight for as long as you wanted was just outside of coober pedy
>>1436891
Ded.
>>1437025
That was more than enough time to use the horn and maneuver or brake. If I see someone pulling out like that after I make a turn I hit the horn one or two quick times so they know I'm there and slow down a bit.

Anyone who has taking any type of mc course knows that a emergency evade involves no throttle of breaking.
On the other hand I was also thought that in an emergency if you're not sure what to do (or in a panic) just break as much as possible since lower speed means lesser chance of death.

This one is hard to tell because so many riders are such huge pieces of shit that it might have been warranted.
>>1431722
>he rider was not, in any way, doing anything wrong.
The rider was not at fault, but he was doing shit wrong. When you see a lazy sunday driver pulling out just as you made a turn, you slow down. You drive defensively. And you also pick a lane and stick to it. The care will be held at fault for making a shit turn across those lanes without signalling.
But when youre on two wheels out there , who is or isnt at fault doesn't cut it. You need to ride extra defensively, assume everyone else on the road is retarded (because they all are), and you need to take responsibility for your own safety.
>>1452391
Given the jackass in the back revved while the dude is on the phone trying to summon a mediator, im going to guess youre all assholes, and you probably passed too close/fast
>>1449572
classic driver looking into the low sun and can't see the rider scenario
>>1452634
No, he wasn't doing a single thing wrong. It's easy to say that you should be foreseeing every single possible outcome of every single vehicle interaction on the road, and it's easy to say that he should have seen the accident coming when you know it's going to happen. The fact is that, every single day you ride, you encounter scenarios that you never saw coming, and never could have seen coming; the only difference is that most of the time, nothing goes wrong. It's neither reasonable nor even remotely possible to expect people to constantly expect the worst of every single person on the road.
If you want to pretend to be a perfect rider and say "I could have avoided that," fine, but that act will only last until you crash.
>>1452391

>>1454238
That's what I do. Unfortunately I'd say 75% of the crashes I see aren't the motorcyclist's fault. I try to learn from the other 25%.
>>1452698
Unless there is actual footage, i'll just assume the riders are assholes based on that interaction.
>>1452883
No, idiot. I'm not saying i expect people to foresee every accident. But you should ride correctly and ride extra defensively.
Imagine the car is pulling out. He sees the motorcycle turn the corner and drift into the far right lane. So he cuts across the right lane to make a turn from the left lane, not realizing that the rider corrected back into the left lane.
What could a rider do to mitigate the risks of being involved in an accident like this? Slow down for one. Be more cautious around vehicles making turn - you can cry about whose at fault all day, but youre the one that's going to get hurt, so just don't give anyone else the benefit of the doubt. And you can stay in your lane and signal.
Say what you want about the speed, but the lane drift is actually something he did wrong that could have directly caused the accident.
Im not a perfect rider, no one is. But you do what you can, and you take responsibility for your own safety, even if the other guy is at fault. Accidents happen. THere are always risks. You mitigate them as best you can, and no matter what the situation, if you end up on the fucking ground you should be asking the question "what could i have done to avoid this"
>>1408928
Why is always the idiot with sport bike?
>>1456900
I retract what I said about him doing nothing at all wrong. I forgot he turned into the right lane, instead of the left lane. However, he signaled his change to the left lane. More importantly, the car signaled neither their lane change nor their turn, nor did they bother to look before doing either of those things. But I know that's not what we're arguing about.
You missed my point with the last post; there are hundreds of potential incidents that we encounter every day and never notice, and many that we do notice we dismiss as not being a threat - that's exactly what the rider did here. He saw the car pulling out, and with the information he had available, he dismissed the car as an immediate threat because the car seemed to be continuing within traffic. It's easy to say that, because the car did something unusual, the rider should have taken special action, but that would be inappropriate just considering how many incidents we encounter every day. Eventually, something bad will happen, out of your control. It certainly doesn't help that the driver made that lane change and turn suddenly and quickly - too quickly to react effectively.
You can't foresee everything.

You could do that, since that will put weight on the front wheel. However, it will be less effective than leaning forward, and it will be difficult to manage to not lock your rear while leaning forward at speed, especially during a high-stress situation, like a tank slapper.

Not him, but also nobike. Isn't the weight shifting forward when breaking just inertia? It's basic fucking physics, even nobikes should understand that.
>>1450671
bikes always ride in the leeft part to not be pushed off the road

It's a nice bike shame he drops it.

Think he'd cooked himself there, too slow into the corner and couldn't lean enough to get the turn and if he'd turned the bars themselves he'd he'd have layed her down, natural target fixate and straight into panic mode. All about that entry and exit
>>1497338
do you want a sport, or cruiser?
>>1437368
have you tried the nullabor
>>1454236
Sport bikes and other types of bikes with lots of fairings on them are pretty costly to repair if you lay them down.
Other bikes, such as Dual sports, can take a fucking beating. I lowsided my DR650 a year ago at like 55mph and aside from some scratches on the tank and crank case, it was fine. I however, tore my tricep and shredded my crappy 200 dollar motorcycle jacket. Dual sport stronk

like any other facet of 4chan, every interest group and thread is usually attacked by shitposters and people who can't help but bitch about things they don't like. Given the fact that motorcyclists are already given a bad rap by car drivers, this vitrol tends to be a bit worse.
That being said, crash webms help us learn about what to do/what not to do in similar situations. They're kind of like after action reports that you do in the army: What could they have done to prevent it, who was in the wrong, what they did right, etc
>>1453842
the 70mph road doesnt mean shit if there's an obstruction (other dumbass drivers). Chances are, the same cuck that blocked your 2 wheels is the same type of cuck that's blocking our 4
>>1453842
>>1453281
I despise both of these types of people.
Love making normies mad when I filter between them in a traffic jam. It's not my fucking fault you decided to drive a big ass vehicle that cant maneuver in tight spaces, and I'm not slowing anyone down or getting in the way by passing between or going around you

I think the guy destroying his clavicles on the curb is wearing one of those roller suits, he hasn't come off a bike. Not that that will have lessened his injuries.

You're right, but if she didn't have the information to make a good decision, she should not have pulled out. She couldn't see, so she should not have gone. There's no excuse for that.
>>1498650
He's talking about lane splitting (filtering). When he goes up the middle of 2 lanes, between cars, people block him.

What an intelligent individual.
>>1501569
>he thinks that bike is registered
>>1501530
>he thinks coming to a complete stop is safer than going just slow enough to observe traffic
And why do people insist on believing that the person who posted the webm is the one in the webm?

If that's her only option, yes. Don't pretend to be an idiot. If you don't have the information to do something safely, you don't do it - full stop.
>>1504341

I'm starting to see why you think I'm the person in all these webms.

wtf is this awful music
>>1504701
it is exactly what you said, actually
>>1462504
hnnnng that framerate
>>1505611
No, it isn't. I said that going slow enough to observe traffic is as safe as, if not safer than arbitrarily coming to a complete stop at a stop sign. That means that many stop signs should simply be yield signs, not stop signs. Replacing stop signs with yield signs would allow most of the same traffic rules to be followed, with some alterations.

How fast is everyone else driving there? It looks like you're only going 50kph faster at most.
my friend crashed yesterday. what was the cause, internet telemetry analysts?
was it
>a
cold tires
>b
poor body positioning/lean angle
>c
throttle control
>d
riding on the lane line
>e
all of the above
>>1515270
>reddit: the webm
probably a combination of being a shitty rider and trying to go too fast on the street
>>1515270
pretty clear the front washed when it hit the white line, at high speed + high lean + on the gas the front just tucks under and the back rolls over and the bike goes down. If the tires were cold then MAYBE they would have gripped the paint a bit better but it would still have twitched badly.
>turn in way too early
>too much throttle too early
>riding around the inside of the corner
>on supposedly 'cold' tires
your friend is lucky nothing was in the oncoming lane
>>1515270
>cold tyres
basically never the cause.
>poor body position/lean angle
not that much lean angle at all.
>throttle control
hard to tell
>riding on the lane line
almost guaranteed.
Tell your friend he's a fucking idiot and that's not how we apex corners on the road for safety reasons, you start wide and finish tight, you don't apex it like on a track.
