PAP's are Kalashnikovs built to Yugoslavian/Serbian spec, it's the same kind of weapon, it's just that it's different in some ways, receivers are usually made of slightly thicker stamping, furniture is not interchangeable with regular AKM furniture.

A WASR is a commercial market rifle from Romania, the old ones used to be really shoddy in quality, but the second version is a lot better made (they'll also always feature the scope mount on the left side of the receiver, so you'll be able to tell if it's one of the new ones).

The thing with Century Arms is that anything they actually substantially build by themselves or build from the ground up, is gonna be dogshit, the RAS47 is like a WASR if it was made out of AIDS, not even the old run of WASRs were as bad as the RAS47 is, they're known for rattling themselves apart within 1000rds and for the trunnion to occasionally explode on some rifles.

On the WASR, Century doesn't really do much work on them, most of that is done in Romania, Century just swaps out a bunch of parts for 922r compliance (most are made by Tapco, which isn't ALL bad quality), then modify the magwell from single-stack (required on rifles to be imported), to double-stack. They used to be really fucking bad modifying magwells, leading to a lot of older guns having shoddy and loose magwells, this isn't really that big of a problem anymore.

Century is trying to compete with the PTR91, trying to make their own G3/HK91 clone, the C308, and it goes as you expect, the worst build quality, for just a few hundred dollars cheaper.

So in short, something which Century just imports and don't do any substantial work on, will probably be ok, something they're actually trying to build on their own typically will NOT be ok.

If you want a decent entrylevel AK, the WASR-10/63 does just that, the only thing I really have against it is that it's not available in 5.45mm or 5.56mm

Foreign AKs are all built to a different spec so some might not have certain dimples, use different bolts/pins, and etc.

Arsenals (SLR) are Bulgarian AKs and are most similar to Russian 74M/100 series AKs in function(? don't know if I am using the right word), they also come in multiple calibers true to the 100 series.

Saigas are Russian sporters and are overall pretty nice but a bitch to convert into a "true" AK.

SGLs are Izhmash AKs, therefore Russian; they also have shotguns; really nice if you don't mind the lack of a folding stock.

VEPRs are Molot who makes RPKs so in essence they are heavy barreled sporters/shotguns; very nice products over all.

NPAP/OPAPs are Serbian AKs, OPAPs are based off RPKs while NPAPs are AKMs. They're okay.

WASR are Romanian AKMs, kind of shoddy quality but the used to be cheap. A good starter AK if you're looking at 7.62.

AMDs are Hungarian AKMs. Kind of an oddball AK. Not really familiar with them, I don't think you can do much with their furniture.

Beryl, top tier 5.56 Polish AK very nice, very rare. They also had a 5.45 Tantal, not too familiar but I've heard they're pretty nice.

RAS is made by century and is complete garbage.

PSA makes an AK and their second gen seems to be alright.

RD (Rifle Dynamics) is an expensive custom builder in the US.

There are milled AKs and stamped AKs, milled AKs typically can't accept the same furniture as stamped AKs which are much more common.
Some mags don't work with eachother and other small things but you're going to have to look into that yourself.

That's what the press said that it's part of the merk family. It was rolled out in less than 2 years not a lot of development time (unless they had some prototype ready that wasn't funded previously). Don't think that it was done from scratch.

Nah. Mosins aren't cheap as they used to be. You could get better deals with an AR (Like a S&W MP5) or an AMD 63/65 from classics that are around $500 bucks and with easily available ammunition
