Anybody know how to clean a Colt 1851 Navy? I'm trying to figure out if it's original and I am also trying to clean it

What are the markings? This should be the most simple damn thing to figure out if it is an original.

I found a couple on it, these are on the right side of the pistol

What is on top of the barrel?

Just took the photo

Reproduction Italian made. Petty beat shape and no danger of you fucking up a real piece of history.
Have you figured out how to take it apart?
>>31113615
Yep, for the most part. The Issue I'm having is getting in the little crevices between the nipples of the cylinder. That, and that ugly white stuff on the top.
Got a couple of photos of current disassembly, barrel condition, and the paper it came with

Take a rubber mallet and knock the wedge out from the right side of the gun to the left. If it has a screw above the wedge remove it. Once that's done it's pretty self explanatory. You can use the ramrod to push the frame from the rest of the gun. Use a nipple wrench to remove the nipples from the cylinder. Use muzzleloader cleaner and make sure you dry everything well.

How can you tell it's an italian reproduction?

Wait, what's a nipple wrench? what else could I use for that? Same thing with muzzleloader cleaner. This is my first experience with non-cartridge guns so I'm doing everything blindly
And here's the paper
By the way nevermind on>>31114083
I found the great big text underneath the gunk that read MADE IN ITALY

Also the proof marks are Italian.
Now you can make a shoulderstock and mount a bayonet without guilt

It's actually my neighbor's, I like working with guns and he had a couple he wanted me to take a look at. The other one is a Spanish 1916 Mauser

It's a wrench you use to remove the nipples off the back of the cylinder. The caps sit on top of them and that's where the spark goes through. I would use some liquid wrench to spray on the nipples to loosen them up. Let it set for a while and twist them off. You can get the wrench at any gun store

>Nipple wrench
As name implies, it's a purpose buikt wrench for removing the nipples, it has no other use. Don't try to remove the nipples without it tho.

I may have to pass on messing with them then. As I had mentioned, the gun isn't even mine, so buying a wrench for something that I can/may never use seems like a waste
