>“The nonpartisan GAO has concluded what we’ve been arguing for years: there is no justification for the Air Force to prematurely retire the A-10 fleet, and doing so could leave the military with a serious capability gap our military needs to confront complex security challenges around the world.”
>The service “has not established clear requirements for the missions the A-10 performs, and in the absence of these requirements, has not fully identified the capacity or capability gaps that could result from the A-10 divestment. Without a clear understanding of the capability or capacity gaps and risks that could result from A-10 divestment, it is also unclear how effective or necessary the Air Force’s and the department’s mitigation strategies will be,” the Government Accountability Office says in a new report. “For example, although the Air Force has several efforts underway to generally mitigate the loss of capabilities that would result from A-10 divestment, it has not identified how or if it will replace the A-10’s role in combat search and rescue missions.”
>The Air Force doesn’t know enough about the missions that A-10 pilots fly or how it would replace the aircraft after retirement, a congressional watchdog says, putting yet another nail into the service’s attempts to save money and retire the much-loved Warthog.
Blown. The. Fuck. Out.

I am fully erect.
Why do they even keep trying? They get told no every time.
Why is Turkey using old Pattons instead of its Leopard 2s in its Syrian operations? The hull is just plain steel, and the ones Turkey have deployed don't appear to have any ERA. That makes them vulnerable even from the front to virtually any HEAT warhead around, including ancient ass RPG-7s and recoilless rifles.
Presumably they're keeping the best equipment with the forces that are still in Turkey and can counter another coup.
And for reference a high res picture of them from 2014 where you can see it's just the plain steel hull and turret.

are they digging for a mummy?
I'm gone through life thus far with only youtubers like hickok45 to welcome me to the diverse, intricate world of firearms.
So I don't own a gun, but I have a massive interest in them, and envision myself around them a lot one day. But what if I'm deeply depressed at times, as I frequently find myself. I've only held a couple loaded handguns, and I have this horrible urge to turn them on myself when I first grab them. What do you guys with depression or suicidal thoughts think about your firearms in respect to depression or that urge.
Sorry if this thread doesn't really belong here, I don't frequent this board very much, but you seemed like a good bunch to ask.
There are better ways to kill yourself that with a firearm desu. People think that a bullet to the brain is an instant kill like some kind of video game, but its more likely to leave you a vegetable. And then you're REALLY fucked. If you are seriously considering an exit strategy, ask /r9k/ about exit bags.

>>31096516
Yeah, I guess depending on how you do it, what you do it with, you could end up worse than dead for sure.
I just have this looming fear that I somehow couldn't control myself on some fateful night. And I really am a rational, generally relaxed person, not very anxious.
I'm paranoid about those few moments I felt when I held and shot a loaded handgun, I was afraid of myself.
I need your help /k/
I've got 2 mothers that are VERY anti gun and 1 hardcore fudd baby boomer mother(we come from a long line of liberal shitstains, don't ask) who are all up my ass about my enthusiasm for firearms. I have several .22's, but any more funs are unlikely to come about until I have enough money to purchase on my own(inb4 poorfag, I'm still in school).
They are severely opposed to handguns, shotguns, large caliber rifles, scary black school shooter rifles etc. tonight the argument is accidents vs self defense
How do I prove that people shoot more marauding Jerome's than themselves with defensive firearms? Any reasonable arguments/sources would be appreciated, I can't just call them fags and be done with it
>tl;dr- how to spread gun love one family at a time
Why don't you google cases where hand guns were used in self defense?
Mention how important gun safety is to the majority of gun owners.
Also, bang on your chest and rip your shirt off, then yell "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED"
>>31096317
Find out how many "accidents" are actually suicides. (Pro tip, the VAST majority of deaths with firearms are suicides. Past that it's mostly Jamal's gunning each other down.)
So basically as long as you aren't extremely depressive or a gang member, you're more than likely to be fine as long as you aren't also a severe klutz.
>>31096317
You can't really quantify crimes that weren't committed when the gun was drawn. Nothing would be reported if nothing past that happens.
Basically I'm saying you can't know the true amount of self-defence incidents if the guns aren't fired.
/k what's your opinion of lindybeige
>>31096245
He's based and red-pilled. Highly recommended.
SPANDAU
>>31096245
Garbage. Idiot who spouts off his opinion without ever providing sources.
Hey /k/, I'd like a really, really small automatic pistol. Right now I'm looking at the Kel-Tec P-32. I was going to go with a Seecamp, but they're almost twice the weight, really picky with ammo, and have a whacky battery of arms thanks to the retarded safety features.
If there anything smaller or around the same size/weight as the P-32 in at least .32 Auto? I'd like something smaller than a P3AT / LCP.
>>31096025
>automatic
>>31096048
>what is context
You think all of Colt's "automatic pistols" were machine pistols?
>>31096057
>what is context
Just bought a Taurus Curve as my new cheapo goin-inna-ghetto EDC.
How much of a retard am I? Paid $250.
>>31095625
The gun is fine but that fucking case is vomit-tier.
That's pretty dumb, especially when you can get a Ruger LCP for the same price and it's better in every way.
>not Taurus
>less bulky
>not ugly
>decently accurate for a .380 pocket pistol
>high capacity mags available for chimpout repellant
>pinky extensions available
>more comfy
>not curved
>Jamal won't think it's a taze toy
>>31095655
It's the shitty one that came with it.
Hey /k/ I don't ever come to this board but I'm looking to buy a quality respirator on par with those offered at Avon. I'm pretty certain I can't buy directly from them because I'm not buying for a military or police force. Can anyone help me out in finding a good mask for a relatively cheap price? (<$300)
>>31095556
Go to granger.
You can buy what ever you want.
>>31095556
Just buy commercial grade so you don't die from riot agents, smoke, dust and fumes, anything that's of military grade these days will kill you or leave you wanting to suckstart an 870 since it can absorb thru skin.

How does /k/ feel about those high school drill teams and those JROTC stuff
>>31095543
Funny as fuck when those retards go to BCT and think they know everything.
>>31095565
any more because my friend wants to try it out and I told her it's just a bunch of larping faggots who wanna be seem cool cuz DER IN DA SCHOOL MUHWEENS
>>31095543
when I was in high school we frequently laughed at them. Not because of "hurr militury" but because for some unforseen reason they were all overweight.
We have all see the images and videos of China boasting about hypersonic missiles, etc.
So the question is how do you stop that? ITT we try to develop some countermeasures to this new and dangerous technology.
NOTE, for it to be viable it has to meet the following criteria:
>Must fit on the Carrier or a carrier escort.
>The technology must exist in some form, or be a combination of existing technology (no force fields, for example).
>The technology must ensure the Carrier survives, even if it is damaged.
>The technology must fit within normal arms conventions (no nuclear device allowed).
With that being said, here is my simple proposal.
>pic related, 1 billion hours in Paint
The idea is that upon impact, the warhead will either miss (due to the flight path being interrupted and the warhead deflecting) or be deformed and slowed to the point it loses some of its effectiveness.
I am aware of the weaknesses of plotting an intercept-course, but in the future this could be improved.
>>31095529
I did forget to mention, the bag would be deployed via rocket-powered interceptor, launched up into the flight path of the high-speed warhead.
>>31095529
>So the question is how do you stop that?
Turn about 10 to port.
>shooting missiles at missiles
We have lasers for a reason.
The judge, a .410 and 45 LC, pistol is completely legal.
So, could I cut the stock off of pic related and just have a pistol grip?
>Inb4 Atf pls go or any version of that unfunny meme
The stock on mine was shittly made and is spitting in half. So should I risk it?
If you don't cut the barrel.
>>31095479
Probably would have been better off buying a Contender pistol.
So I have to choose between an M1903, an M1903A3, or an M48.
I would like to get the 1903 because it's the oldest of the three, and I think that's pretty cool; but the 03A3 has better sights.
I'm considering the M48 because it has that sweet mauser action and I like the bigger cartridge, but unless it's that much nicer than the springfields I would really like to have an American rifle as my first.
Do you guys have any imput you'd like to give me?
>>31095476
I hear some of the early 1903s weren't heat treated properly and are dangerous to shoot. Maybe something to keep in mind.
>>31095476
1903A3, there are many 1903s out there that are not safe to shoot. .30-06 is more readily available and plenty powerful and if I'm not mistaken, isn't the 1903a3's action based on the mauser?
>>31095476
Get the M1903A3, that way you can shoot ANY 30-06. 1903s Pre A3 arent weak but I wouldnt put any hot 220g hand loads outa one. Plus 30-06 is panic buy proof. Alot easier to get then 8mm Mauser. There is something about the ladder sight M1903s tho...

>San Mateo, California
It's a honeypot
>>31095377
Wait do people do this? How does one even acquire only a SCAR upper?
>>31095377
Protip SCAR lowers aren't serialized firearms you dumb fucking faggot
9mm is pretty much superior to 45. in every way.
People always saying that the 9mm doesn't do as much damage but that 9mm is faster than 45., which doesn't make any sense. A faster bullet will always do more damage because the projectile is traveling faster and therefore hits harder and does more damage.
I honestly don't get why people say that 45. is better.
it's more expensive too. Literally doesn't make any sense.
>literally doesn't make any sense
As opposed to figuratively not making sense? Literally kill yourself.
>>31095331
>i like something
>that means it is best
>everyone else should like what I like
Just fuck off and let people do what they like.
>>31095331
What is "45."?
So, for those that aren't completely up on this event, can someone give a tldr on what's going on from start to finish of this whole ordeal and where the many different factions fit in?
>>31095180
just go to wikipedia, we dont need a thread detailing nearly 5 years of war
we have a Syria general on here you can check out it's full of good information, theres one on /pol/ too but I don't care for it as much but it's still alright
>>31095180
a cluster fuck of shits fucked. includes about 7000 different warring factions in a huge free-for-fall of shit
