How cheap will thermal get in the next 2 to 5 years?
Not very. It took nearly 50 years for gen 1 NV stuff to drop below $1K and thermals are only really coming into their element now. Unless you mean low-res low-ref trash like Torrey pines viewers, which are basically childrens toys.

I've been conceal carrying a commander sized 1911 for about two years now, I'm getting kinda tired of trying to conceal such a (fairly) big gun since I always have to dress around it.
I started looking looking at both pic related and glock 26. Only hangup I'm having is moving away from a more traditional safety on a gun, to just the passive safeties that the glock has.
Anyone have any experience in general with the glock "safe action" system, or just moving from carrying a 1911 to a glock?
>>31791154
The Glock "safe action" works in that the gun will not go off unless the trigger is being pulled. The firing pin is blocked and the striker isn't cocked when the trigger is forward. So it's basically impossible for the gun to "just go off." Safe use is up to you not pulling the trigger. The Glock trigger is fairly long and deliberate, which makes it harder to pull unintentionally. Really, your holster is your safety. A mechanical safety is just a crutch, the gun should shoot when you pull the trigger.
>>31791154
I went from a 1911 to an XD, which is similar enough to a Glock in that it doesn't have an external safety, just a grip safety that will definitely get me killed.
Just be careful when holstering your gun, and practice your draw in clothes you would normally wear. Carrying a smaller pistol is definitely worth the change though.

>A mechanical safety is just a crutch
Yea I've been trying to shift my mentality to that. Hard to go from 'Cocked and Locked' to 'Cocked and ready to blast'. That said, I'm more than willing to spend money on a quality holster, so that's no problem.
>>31791305
What do you mean it'll get you killed? Not quality grip safety?
Hello friends.
I just purchased my first firearm. I'm sure experts like yourselves don't need me to specify, but it's a Glock 19 Gen 4.
Two things: 1) Did I do good? and
2) What modifications on this gun are in your opinion essential?
P-please be gentle

>1) Did I do good?
Yes
>2) What modifications on this gun are in your opinion essential?
Put some night sights.
Other than that, buy magazines and have fun.
>>31789782
Steel sights. The Glock-branded ones are fine.
Extended slide release lever, I like the Tangodown/Vickers model
Smooth Glock 17 trigger (for me, I don't like the serrations, if you like it then disregard)

Class of two ships before the rest were cancelled.
Not a real assault ship, can't launch amphibious assaults as it has no welldeck.
At 50,000 tonnes as big as the CdG or other nations fleet carriers yet no ramp to support the superior numbers of F-35b's it can carry..
>>31789619
>cancelled
It's not though, they're just adding a well deck to it for the future ones after Tripoli.
>>31789637
The whole point of the America class was to have a larger capacity hanger for parts, fuel and everything else needed for increased aviation operations.
Realising they made a huge mistake they've changed the design for LHA-8 and onwards.

Fucking hell, this is too accurate.
Shit, if Nova Scotia got put in charge of making it, it would start off in planning rivaling anything the US has, and by the time it's done be at triple the original budget and still only end up like what's in OP's post.
And then we'd be shelling out half the province's GDP to keep it from sinking in port, since it wouldn't be able to do anything.
