How cheap will thermal get in the next 2 to 5 years?
Not very. It took nearly 50 years for gen 1 NV stuff to drop below $1K and thermals are only really coming into their element now. Unless you mean low-res low-ref trash like Torrey pines viewers, which are basically childrens toys.

atn, flir, Armasight ...
only the ones considered to be hunting grade or useable to id at 200 yards

>>31792101
>he thinks the price of thermal will drop noticeably within 5 years
wew
>>31792101
Considering you can buy a thermal unit for your phone for $150 and my current phone has integrated FLIR optics in it and I got it for under $600...
I think flir has already dropped by multiple factors in price.
>>31792101
ill let you in on a secret
its already cheap.
the .mil keeps the price inflated through contract negotiation with FLIR and Harris and the like
systems come and go, stock gets thrown away, new and old. its chump change for the manufacturing side of the military/defense contracting industry
its all illusionary pricing
the cost is kept prohibitively high so that companies can sustain the massive margins they get by selling it to uncle sam. Much like HK rifles, Harris radios, OshKosh trucks ETC

holocuast victim with gun and diamond

breh . . .

I work for Oshkosh, you are wrong. Go ahead and check their civilian divisions, Pierce, JerrDan, JLG, etc. Their vehicles are expensive because they are made extremely well, in the United States.
>>31792424
FLIR has a ridiculous employee discount
>wife worked for flir
>>31792889
not that anon but I do have to say they are overpriced... Look every one knows that everything made in America is overpriced not because of the workers or how hard it is to make but the bloated management and upper workers who get paid absurd amounts and crazy bonuses
>>31792947
I'm not saying otherwise, but Oshkosh military vehicle prices aren't bloated because of contracts- they are bloated because everything they make is overpriced.
>>31792845
Fine boroque, you know what I meant!
>>31792958
yeah, same thing with cars in the 1990s you could buy a brand new corolla for 9k now it starts at 18k with the increase in automation and off shore manufacturing the cars should probably only sell for 12-15k base.
>>31792973
I'm a sucker for art porn especially with weapons, those are rare.

>How cheap will thermal get in the next 2 to 5 years?
They will only get cheaper if the technology gets cheaper, by means of some technological revolution, with is unlikely - but than again, we have no idea.
Also, please remember, thermals are one of the few technological advances we have over mudslimes, so maybe it should not become cheap/accessible.
>>31792101
It's already cheap retard. Google is your friend.
>>31793972
I've seen that piece in real life, I popped a marble boner right then and there
>>31794102
yea not talking about the usb plug-in shit
>>31794102
You're the retarded one. We tested it, (T10N vs FLIR 3-gen )and it has range of only like, 15 meters.

+1 google is very shady. Oops we left off Trump as a candidate, try clinton auto-complete on google vs any other search
OP here, Shitposter can go buy a $8000 800x600 60 hz 2-24x 100mm scope and then lecture me. Or post that thermal scope. On the other hand I found this.
https://www.leupold.com/hunting-shooting/thermal/lto-tracker/
I'm still need more range and resolution, but it is another step into possible.

Feet are nice too
>>31794612
I see I'm not the only one that likes marble.
>tfw no statue to feel up
The sensor chips are the problem. Only a few companies can produce them. Russia and China failed to invest in chip fabrication. They aren't made with silicon unlike normal image sensors, so you need a special fabrication setup.

Look up Oleg Volk, it's the photographer. He has quite the unmistakable style.
Be prepared to see a lot of cringy pro gun propaganda though. His pictures are better than the slogans he writes.

If they're so well made, why do they have to be updated before they ever hit the fleet and why do they constantly break down?
