American civilians simply don't have an appetite for grand displays of military power when the nation is not in a big war. It's not in the culture and has been that way for a long while. Probably something to do with that "no standing army" thing. That said, America substitutes it with other things like airshows, fleet week, flyovers, and a handful of holidays.

Steyr M9-A1
2 light primer strikes today. One primer strike was at the edge of the primer and the other was at the center.
The gun seems to hang on something occasionally about 3mm short of going into battery. Possibly cause of light strikes?
Any suggestions?

I have two scopes sort of in that price range, the Burris Droptine .22lr 2-7X and the Leupold VX-1 2-7X. After a short while playing with each I settled on the Leupold for my main rifle. They both offer nice clear views, no distortion, crisp reticles. But the Burris view bothers me a bit as the ring around it is too substantial, the scope doesn't 'disappear' while I'm looking through it. The ring around the glass with the Leupold is almost not there at all, very subtle and not at all disturbing. That's the biggest difference between them. After that, the Burris glass doesn't seem to show quite so deep contrast as the Leupold and isn't quite as bright when light gets very low. These differences are relatively small, but helped me decide which I use all the time and which goes on a rifle which sits in the safe most of the time.
