what does everyone's ammo and mag stockpile look like these days? I have about 1k rounds of .223 (range won't let me shoot FMJ rifle rounds so .223 HPs are the cheapest thing I can actually shoot.) I have 10 mags total, 9 30 rounders and a 20 rounder.

I've also got 500 rounds of 9mm on the way, considering ordering more since it's cheap now and I'll probably kick myself in a few weeks for not just ordering more.

Hey fuckers, I just built my first AR. A 5.56. But it will only shoot steel rounds. When I load brass, only a fraction of them go off. When I compare the dents in the primer, the one on the steel rounds are visibly larger than their brass counterparts. Everyone I know irl that might have a clue has never heard of this issue. Any ideas?

have you tried a different brand of brass ammo?
usually its steel with harder primers, not the other way around but who knows.
i would also try a different firing pin. basically, you swap out parts until you can isolate what the issue is.
also, switching between steel and brass ammo without cleaning can be an issue because of the different rate at which steel and brass fills up the chamber. but that wouldnt cause issues with light primer strikes. just thought id mention it anyway

It's a Lightweight Champion Operator. I've had it since May or so. I like shooting it, but I bought it with the intent to CC it, but didn't really like carrying it vs my M&P. It initially had some odd FTExtract/Eject issues, but I sent it to Springfield, they tuned the extractor, and it hasn't had those issues anymore. I have however had issues with locking back on the last round. I'm trying to figure out if it's me limp writing inadvertently, my choice of ammo, or a cosmic conspiracy to keep me from shooting 1911s well.

I've neen trying to sell it on armslist for a couple weeks to no avail, since everyone wants to trade me two XDs and a HI point for it.

Everything in the pic for $1100-ish. It's about 300 rounds of ammo, two sets of VZ grips, 3 wilson 47d 8-rounders, 2 springfield 7 round GI mags, and all the stuff springfield handguns come with. I'll even throw in some paperclips to disassemble the gun with.

I've also considered just keeping it. I really enjoy shooting it, but I kinda felt like I would be better suited to get an Operator of the full size nature.

My hand loads move at 3k FPS with a 75 gr OTM out of that setup. They don't go trans sonic until near the 1k yd mark.

It's fun to push the ballistic capabilities of a cartridge as a challenge. With 5.56 NATO you must be very good with wind calls. It's also a lot cheaper to shoot than my other 2 precision rifles, a 308 and a 300 win mag.

I haven't been keeping up with the huge amount of new products that sprung up this year, but I believe the Octane 9 is still top of class in sound reduction. It's pretty light and very easy to clean, and because it's well established there are a thousand adapters which are widely and readily available, which is a big deal.
You'll get jizzed by any suppressed handgun. It's not so bad, wear glasses.

Had had a higher-mag scope on it previously, but the extra weight sucked since I was hiking the mountains chasing elk and a 6x lowest mag fucked me twice trying to get on running elk at close range.

I'm debating on getting the Razor HD 3-18x since the HS is in Talley QD's, would be nice to be able to swap quickly from target to hunting gun.

Best part is I was first-shot hitting prairie dogs out to just over 400yds. Really happy with the rifle.
