I've always shot 9mm +p loads, I recently had the opportunity to shoot a .40 for the first time, and I couldn't tell the difference in the felt recoil. I've always been for 9mm, if I want a bigger round I'll go 10mm, but after shooting .40, I might be switching over from 9mm, any one else have similar experiences?

I might just switch to standard pressure for the recoil mitigation, the big complaint of .40 is the snappyness of the recoil, I feel the same about 9mm +p

minor research says you can get a 40gr bullet going 1181 out of a MK III 5.5"
which would equate to 123.86 foot pounds
(BBTI is to be trusted as precise)
I've hunted small to medium deer with a .22
I'm thinking if it can pierce a deer it can pierce a human.
That's the logic I'm going on, if you have anything to add it would be very helpful.

It will poke holes in people. It will be quiet... Especially if you suppress it. I know of people who have used it in HD situations because of the low noise of the round just to save thier hearing while shooting indoors.

1911s depend on what you want. A more modern colt 1911 without any special attributes could be gotten pretty cheap off gunbroker. A US Property colt 1911 would be a lot more, over $2k easy. A pre-A1 would be more. This is also heavily dependent on condition.

Springifelds range ~$600. Check the serial, if it's a low number production its receiver may be improperly heat treated. If it has been used a lot before you buy it then the likelihood of it failing is small. Also look for a Hatcher Hole on the left side of the receiver, nothing wrong with them, just a neat thing if its there.

Very possibly. Did you cock it, or was that how you found it?

You have to keep an eye towards the barrel when you try it. Look for a small spark near then end, with bullets still in the cylinder of course. This is to test if the hammer is still functional.
Old guns like that get rusty and need to be fired every now and then to work. This is a good way to make sure it still works.

I went n killed Chamonix, my lovely ol recurve Bow. I dropped it in dewy grass n got left there 24 hrs.
In my defence, I did go stop my neighbour getting rolled in his house by 4 Africans. Fuckin niggers killed my Bow.
Anyway. Need a new one now. (Fix, maybe, but good excuse) What does /k/ suggest in the way of recurve bows? What am I looking for specifically? This was a gift. I bought a compound a while ago but I don't like it much, no feel, ergonomics all wrong, n pull is to short. sure I could tweak it, but would cost buckets in gimmicky. the recurve has had 4 strings on it now n never felt wrong. Getting ever shorter as my shoulders beefed.
Chamonix was rated at 22 lb at 64in, but I've probably pulled 4-5 in off the string over the years. The 40lb compound is effort, but not hard.
So, what Bow comes /k/ recommend? I'm pretty much just plinking targets in the back yard, nailed some bunny's tho when holiday n far from people.
Au supplier preferred, but can wait for worthy.
