If I was looking to buy an m1903 Springfield, how much money would have to spend?
Same question for a colt m1911

1911s depend on what you want. A more modern colt 1911 without any special attributes could be gotten pretty cheap off gunbroker. A US Property colt 1911 would be a lot more, over $2k easy. A pre-A1 would be more. This is also heavily dependent on condition.

Springifelds range ~$600. Check the serial, if it's a low number production its receiver may be improperly heat treated. If it has been used a lot before you buy it then the likelihood of it failing is small. Also look for a Hatcher Hole on the left side of the receiver, nothing wrong with them, just a neat thing if its there.

I would like one that's most similar to the ones used in WW1 and 2.

Gotcha, thanks.

WW1 was pre-A1. Your options are colt commemoratives (they did several) for around $1.5k, the real deal $2k+, or cimmaron's repro $500/600.
WW2 was A1. There are a million USGI repros. RIA does a cheap one. If you have to have a colt, the price is way higher.

I looked up a comparison of the two, and I believe I would/will like the A1 better. Do the USGI reproductions and RIA ones look and function the same as the colt?

>600
Bullshit

All you have to do is look past the bubba stock and see.
>tfw got a RIA 1903 unfucked for $400 in February
>>32018907
lol more like $900 and up. But keep spouting bullshit what do i care
Just bought a Ruger SR 1911 at local Cabelas gun library. $600. Looked brand new. It was apparently there display gun.

>buying one "hand selected" when you can pay half that at a pawn shop and fix it up
It's like you don't like working on your guns.
>>32019224
Yes. Basically any series 70 1911 will be the same in function as a colt.

Someone over paid. I got a 1918 serial for 550 with a box of ammo.

I paid 300 for mine 2 years ago.... remington 1942 2 groove

OOooh nice, I have a 1906 RIA. Did it come with the sling?
>>32022005
How do you like it?
>>32022080
Yep!
>>32022097
The only other 1911 I have ever shot was the RIA g.i. model. The Ruger is way better. The trigger on the Ruger is nice. I need to get some snap caps. I think I'm dipping the nose anticipating the recoil. Past 20 yards I'm always shooting low.

Nigger you can dry fire a modern pistol...
