If you had 30 seconds to prepare for your neighborhood to be invaded by mass protests, gang members, violence, criminals, etc. would you be good to go?
>30 seconds
I wouldn't be able to get my roommate ready in that amount of time

Yes. I have no friends and spend my money and free time on guns and survival supplies. Shits already ready..

My Converted Salga 7.62x39
Between me and my 2 neighbors one who served in desert storm and the other nam one with an M1a and the other with his retro AR I think we could at least keep our Apartment building from being burned to the ground by sitting on the roof if stuff gets to hairy and if we had to contain it. Since the cops are not doing their job I guess?

>Rock Island Auction having their regional auction this weekend
>on phone waiting for gun I want to bid on to come up
>some WWII German caps come up
>on a whim, buy an alleged Waffen SS NCO visor cap for $475 because nobody else was bidding, and three alleged Kriegsmarine caps for $1600
>realize afterwards they're probably all fake as fuck and I just made a big mistake
What are the chances that I'm fucked? I mean the auctioneers have to at least make a mild effort at verifying them, right? Like a UV light and checking for obviously fake insignia?
How bad did I just goof? I'm hoping I can just resell them for what I paid at a gun show if they turn out to be questionable.
Pic related is from Google, not what I bought
>>33039562
IF it were any other setting than a legitimate auction company, I'd say almost certainly.
Still, I'd be wary. Go to jewgle and see if you can find anything about maker's marks, how they did the stitching, etc.
And I realize the chances of the Waffen SS cap being fake as extremely high, but I just couldn't resist the possibility that I might get something worth like $5000 for $500.
>>33039562
kek, I'm a big-time surplus shitter and there's a reason why I never deal with Nazi militaria. I simply don't know enough about it to be able to weed out the fakes and repros (and there are many, many of those) from the real Krautshit. Why would you buy a ~$500 hat that you apparently know very little about, let alone one that's likely to be faked?

I have been thinking of buying a tikka t3 chambered in 30-06 to elk hunt in colorado, but being a 145 pound guy im scared the recoil might be too much for me, in that case would it be a smarter option to go whit one chambered in .308, even for elk?
>>33039296
Not much difference either way.
>>33039296
They're basically the same. The only difference is that .30-06 is a longer bullet, which can be seen in your image. This allows for a heavier bullet and more powder, but recoil should be about the same.
want to buy my 308 tikka T3? It's threaded and has a muzzle brake on it; I'm in Colorado.
Recoil isn't going to be much of a difference between 308 and 30-06, and I wouldn't worry about it much if you're just hunting. The tikka is a very light rifle though, I think it's under 6lbs empty and not scoped.
I stumbled upon a Beretta 21A Bobcat nickel plated (exactly like pic related) in great shape at a pawn shop today and got them to hold it for me until next week.
its listed at 349.95 with ammo and a key(i dunno what that is)
good price?
I really like the gun and have been looking for a reliable .25 for awhile.
just wondering if the price is right
plz help

lol buy it, its cute and you can put a little nappy on it if nothing else.

agreed, thanks anon
tl;dr Looking for an actual complete recipe for replicating factory milspec 5.56 with XM855 projectiles?
There are a lot of factors involved in the performance characteristics of handloaded ammunition. People mostly think about powders and projectiles as the key pieces- and maybe they are- but primers, case trim length, cartridge overall length, and crimp can all affect muzzle velocity and accuracy.
The gun itself can also affect accuracy and muzzle velocity. Parts of a 5.56 chamber fits a round slightly looser than a .223 Remington chamber, making for lower pressures with the same loadings.
In searching for load data, the only thing I can seem to find is .223 Remington. I can't find any 5.56. Shooting handloads with .223 Remington recipes in my 5.56 chamber seems to result is much lower muzzle velocities (sometimes 300-500 fps lower than factory).
I can measure *most* of the factors for factory ammunition. I'm using surplus 62gr projectiles with a COAL of 2.250 and Wolf small rifle magnum primers in lake city brass. I dissected a factory round and measured 26.5 grains of a spherical powder that looks a lot like Winchester 748 but who knows what it is.
Does anyone know what Federal puts in these Lake City 5.56 milspec rounds?
>replicating factory milspec 5.56 with XM855 projectiles
If you say something like that, I have no idea why you don't just buy it instead.

How much more elite are the Marine Corp versus regular infantry? Are they comparable to Rangers?
>>33038824
They're basically trained Gorillas who are sent anywhere the army is too smart to go.
>>33038824
> amphibious sandbags/human wave offensive
Somewhere debatable between stupidity and bravery.
The only 'elite' marines are the Royal Marines imo. I doubt the US Marines could yomp 90 miles across the Falklands in 3 days over terrain so difficult the Argies didnt consider it possible to be attacked from there.
>>33038824
Infantry is a type of soldier, Marine Corps is a branch of the armed forces. The Marine Corps have infantry soldiers the same as Army and National Guard.
Marine Corps infantry go through additional training compared to other branches, with National Guard having the shortest training period, Army the middle, and Marine Corps the most. From my understanding, they typically go through 3x the duration of training that Army does. The actual training between branches are different, but not drastically so - I believe Marine Corps have slightly higher standards for standard enlisted. I do know that the Marine Corps has a much more physically-intensive officer exam, given their belief that leaders have to be physically superior to their subordinates.
As for Rangers v. Marine Corps infantry, and which is more "elite", it depends on what you're measuring and who you ask.
If you could have only 1 AR-15 for SHTF, what length would you go with and why?
Probably 16" especially if house clearing.

Got some offers coming my way, what do y'all think?
Offer 1:
My Russian capture K98k (beat up, mismatched, rough barrel) and a good condition K31 for a Swiss commercial Luger in .30, good barrel
Offer 2:
My K31 for a 1940 Type-14 Nambu with holster, accessories and ammo
The Nambu trade is obviously better in the value department but I do want a .30 Luger
Pic clearly unrelated but cute af
>>33038572
if you want to shoot it at all I'd get the luger
.30 mauser is still manufactured, the largest supply of 8mm nambu is currently sitting at the bottom of Tokyo bay
unless you want to fuck around with forming brass I'd get the luger
>>33038792
I see what you're saying. But just to be clear it's chambered for .30 luger not 7.63 mauser.
>>33038832
7.65x21 yeah
.30 luger
