I have been thinking of buying a tikka t3 chambered in 30-06 to elk hunt in colorado, but being a 145 pound guy im scared the recoil might be too much for me, in that case would it be a smarter option to go whit one chambered in .308, even for elk?

They're basically the same. The only difference is that .30-06 is a longer bullet, which can be seen in your image. This allows for a heavier bullet and more powder, but recoil should be about the same.

Recoil isn't going to be much of a difference between 308 and 30-06, and I wouldn't worry about it much if you're just hunting. The tikka is a very light rifle though, I think it's under 6lbs empty and not scoped.

literally was dealing with this two days ago and now own a savage 11 308
for factory loads across the 150 and 180 gr loads 308 is about 120 fps slower.

Biggest thing though is being a good shot. Inside of 400 yards both a 308 and 30-06 are comperable. Beyond 400 yards get a 7mm mag.
So inside the magic 400 yards, you want to focus on being a good shot. 308 is cheaper to buy (assuming you aren't reloading) so get a 308 and git gud.
if you reload literally everything, then get a 30-06.
I practice with surplus most of the year and switch to reloads/factory hunting in September.

Very similar in performance. I'd shoot both and see what feels best. I don't think you'll be able to decide based just on the numbers.

My elk rifle is in 7mm Rem Mag. Out of the two options you listed I'd take .30-06 though.
