I was recently doing an install in a home under construction and noticed one of the rooms had 1/2 inch thick ballistic panels in the walls. The door was a heavy automatic slider and the ventilation for the room was covered by thick steel grating. It was a safe room.
Didn't really know these existed and thought I'd share. I had always assumed a safe room would be like a concrete walled bunker. I'd guess this stuff was level III rated for handguns, seems like a rifle would pass right though. The material was either fiberglass or kevlar, resin infused.
Found a video with similar material being installed, looks nasty to cut, like fiberglass.

Entertaining myself thinking about all the ballistic panels I'll have in my house one day...

it's woven roving with fiberglass resin
Stops up to level 3

How about building houses from stone instead of papier-maché walls? Every room would be a safe room

Interesting take on SHTF....
>>33032365
yeah, i dont pay for the electric jew
it's alright, but cable scifi shows tend to have shit endings because their writers ran out of good ideas.
like Falling Skies. which was a great SHTF alien invasion series. Until it was obvious they had no idea on how to end it and it looks like they got shorted a season or two.
the hosts are converting people in the blocs into well, hosts. so they can repopulate on the Earth as humans.
the main character will find his missing son, but he will be converted already. then eventually the converted son will help them defeat the evil alien plot.
Whats it about? Half of us don't have telescreens so we're in the dark

What can /k/ tell me about this? I just picked it up on the cheap. I know the ammo is hard to find but I know what it is and I just wanted to collect it from some fudd. If anyone's knows anything about vz 52 serials that would be so helpful.
Close up of the serial.
surplus ammo is stupidly rare and corrosive. it also wasn't kept in dry places. so it might not work.
you can make the ammo using AK bullets and resizing common full size rifle brass.
magazines can be a problem.
I have one. It's a safe queen because I cannot into reloading right now.
cartridge is just a few tenths of a milimeter too long to be used in an AR15 pattern rifle.
neat gas system.
she's just a collectors piece for me. i found her on a buy/sell/trade group im in and wanted to make sure she found a good home. i just want to know a little history. does anyone know anything about manufacturing dates or anything? i probably wont ever get to shoot it but holy shit i got her for 250.

Let's ignore the fact that Russia will never be able to actually afford this. Is it even a good design?
>>33031524
Are they bringing back pagoda masts?
It is hard to judge it when all we have is a model and vague specs.
>>33031524
I like the look of it, but I like the look of Russias incongruous ship design overall.
Hey /k/, Newfag to firearms here.
(pic not related)
Not completely dumb, but I lack some knowledge. 19 and I've never bought a firearm (yet, can't afford)
So I've got a stupid question.
Have any of you ever "mixed" ammunition types and why?
+ strange ammunition you've seen in person.
Types, not different sized rounds. (duh)
>Mixed ammunition
If you don't value your hands go for it champ!
You'll get some cool hooks in return.
>>33031476
Are there any types you CAN mix without incident?
>>33031491
Certainly. Most .357 MAG can accept .38 special. I'm not aware of one wheel gun that cannot. .223 can be shot out of a 5.56 chambered weapon. And it should go without saying .50 BMG and .50 AE are interchangeable. Most guys I know buy .50 BMG for their Deagle brand Deagles. Much cheaper because of surplus and all that.
So here I am watching the hit TV show V.I.P.E.R., about a Viper with guns on it and it hits me.
Militaries need sportscars. With guns on them. What needs to be done to make this happen?
Pic related was a aid vehicle during the Balkans War.
1st pic is a 2nd gen camaro. I have a 1981 z28.
So Mercedes sells bulletproof sports cars.
Ever since I found that out, I've been fantasizing about buying several nondescript houses in a major metropolitan area, and shuffling between them in unpredictable routes, at unpredictable times, never sleeping in the same bed two nights in a row.
I just need somebody to try and kill me while I do it.
So what's /k/'s opinion on the Leatherman Surge multitool?
Is it worth the $100+ price?
yes, its huge though
>>33031437
Fuck it, I'll get it next payday.
That way I can get the bits and the bit driver with it.
I have the old version, it's pretty good but if you intend to carry it around on you get the wave

What?
>Repealing the unconstitutional Hughes amendment will restore our second amendment rights that have been under attack for a very long time.
This reads like something abe simpson would write to the NRA if he were a gun nut.
Let's fucking do it!
The deadline is February 19th and we have only 68,000 signatures.
To anyone who wants to get an opinion out of the Trump administration, sign (and most importantly, SHARE IT) so we can see what they think.
Conservatives control the House and Senate. The Administration is pro gun and has established a pro-gun coalition lead by none other than Donald Trump Jr. himself. Ronald Turk of the ATF and other officials within are also willing to remove some regulations as well.
There will NEVER be a better chance to get something done or at least make our case. The time to start pushing to restore the second amendment is now.

Alright, /k/ommandos. I'm a U.S. Army paratrooper. Ask me your questions.
Of course, while I post a few airborne-related pictures.
How does it feel to risk your life training for an obsolete combat role?
>>33030832
Honestly? Both awesome and remarkably self-aware. We know it's obsolete. We don't get paid enough for it, either. But, hey, that's the Army for you.
Greetings Gentlemen, I write to you whilst on my travels through Eastern Europe. All is currently well, with the exception of the Balkans, where something always seems to be happening, but I'm sure that nothing that happens there will ever effect the rest of the world.
Anyhow I was in a cafe in Austria-Hungary when I heard that the Russian Empire had just adopted some Belgian monstrosity as their new side arm (illustration related). I thought that their new Czar being a complete idiot was just a meme, but once I heard this I am now convinced that this man cannot run a country, even one as simple as Russia. When I read about this news I immediately crumpled up the paper I was reading and threw it at a waste-bin. Unfortunately I missed and it hit some six year old boy in the head, but luckily nobody saw me do it and the boy's mother just blamed a rabbi that was nearby.
Nice to know European. Myself, I'm heading out to the Arizona territory with my new Marlin lever action in .45-70 I aim to collect the bounty on that southern scum John Wesley Hardin.

Alright genius, what do you think he should use? Those "self-loading" pistols are a dumb fad.
In fact I bet you 10 dollars that nobody will make a reliable self-loading sidearm, and an extra 200 if they manage to do it within the next year.
