My SKS blew up.
Seems like a pierced primer with Golden Tiger ammo. The firing pin broke off at the tip, and I know I kept the thing well cleaned and tested the firing pin for sticking. Was a really nice M59/66.
Anybody have a similar experience? What did you do? I'm going to at least need to replace the bolt.

What's /k/'s opinion on 4/6 position carbine buttstocks on full 20 inch rifles?
Would look a lot less odd if it had a rail system instead of an A2 fore grip.
>>33047684
I have a collapsible stock on my rifle length AR
but /k/ unanimously hates it so I guess not
>>33047684
Do what you want, but do it with the VLTOR A5 buffer kit. That's what its for.
A classic battleship would be the ideal defense for the straits of hormuz.
A heavily armored beast with guns and cannons on every inch of it's deck. Nothing else can stand up to wave after wave of small attack boats.
>>33047628
>Nothing else can stand up to wave after wave of small attack boats.
You're a fucking idiot, for sure.
>>33047751
Did one of the barrels blow off?
>>33047628
>A classic battleship would be the ideal defense for the straits of hormuz.
What? By sinking it and trying to make it a blockade?
You do realize that a lowly RPG-7 can penetrate any location on an Iowa right?
Legitimate question: Why do people buy pistols that are not Walthers? I scratch my head trying to figure this out. Scratch scratch scritch. Every non-Walther I have owned was a POS, except the Steyr M357. Good looks, ergonomic, chamber indicator, ambidextrous, quality, best trigger in the game. Why buy anything else? Glock=no safety, looks gay. 1911= heavy, old. HK= Too big, too expensive. Springfield XD= why? Smith and Wesson= just a badge engineered Walther for Yankees. SIG= Honestly don't know anything about SIG other than my brother and Elliot Rodger like them.

What's the general consensus on 10mm. I'm thinking of dropping 700 for one of these beauties.
>>33047378
It's a great bullet, but isn't very popular. It can be hard to fund and expensive to shoot.
>>33047393
Shit, gotta see if these rural Kentucky asshole shops got any around.
>>33047378
Do it
10mm is kinda a niche but its a great hunting round. If you want a powerful semi auto handgun (yes i know 10mm revolvers were made but whats the point?) you dont plan to surpress its the ticket.

(You)
This is the anon from yesterday's thread where I mentioned that I probably just wasted $2000 on a bunch of fake World War II-era Kriegsmarine hats. Just wanted to do a quick update and ask for any more advice.
Here is the lot for reference:
https://www.rockislandauction.com/detail/1028/4808#detail
>call the auction house
>ask if they verify the authenticity of things before they sell them, even if they can't "guarantee" it
>they say no
>but they have an "expert" or something who can take a look at them for me
>he does
>they do a blacklight test
>he calls back and tells me that the first one displayed no fluorescence, the second displayed a dull glow on the cloth, and the third displayed no fluorescence on the cloth but some on the stitching
>furthermore, the patch on the second cap appeared to be very loosely hand-sewn on, and the first cap (the winter cap) displayed some fluorescence on the inner sweat band
So how accurate is the blacklight test? I'm well aware that it isn't some miracle for determining the date something was made. But from what I've been told, Germany in WWII used very little treated cloth. I believe there's a few examples of genuine visor caps that used fluorescent velvet for piping and stuff, but I'm not an expert.
They said they'd talk to management about canceling the purchase but I'm probably fucked. Is there even a slim chance these might be real, knowing the above results for the UV test?
>>33047151
Why don't you just wear the hates OP
>>33047174
Because they're probably fake as fuck and I paid $2000 for them. If they're not real what's the fuckin point?
>>33047151
don't be a bitch about it. Absolutely refuse to accept them and don't pay a dime. They tried to sell you a counterfeit product and that's not your problem. Tell them that unless they have products that are actually what you purchased they can take a hike.
>They said they'd talk to management
Nigga, they aren't doing that. You should know this, even car salesmen do that. "Hmm, let me talk to the manager" then they just shoot the shit for two minutes and tell you to get fucked.
I don't know why but I just can't bring myself to buy any AK on the market. Even if they're made from parts kits or whatever, at the end of the day it's just some parts on a gun made in America. Same way with lots of foreign milsurp. Like 90% of it has import markings and shit. It just triggers my autism so much.
Anyone else have this problem? It sucks because I really want an AK, but unless I have the money to buy an actual pre-ban AK made overseas, my autism simply won't allow me to own one. Like from a collector's standpoint I just can't bear to see it near my collection.
Shit sucks, man.
>>33047022
I just can't bring myself to spend a grand on a rifle that's finish is going up bubble and cook off after a few magazines
And it sickens me so many faggots on here shill for it
>>33047036
Are you referring to an AK? I've never heard of this problem before. My brother has a SLR and we've shot it quite a bit, never had any problems with the finish bubbling off
>>33047036
Arsenal owner here, apparently that was a problem with a certain serial date range. My 107fr has literally never had any of those problems. Arsenal suffers from the fact that they know they are Arsenal and dumbasses shill for them without admitting that their QC can suck. Just inspect and you'll be fine.
Bought an early Yugoslavian SKS from a gun show the other day. It's a pre 1966, before they added the grenade launcher and sight. I paid $400 for it in pretty nice shape. Did I get a decent deal?
>>33046838
If it's all matching numbers you didn't do bad as much as it pains me to say, can't believe we're in that day in age. But I'll share a little anecdote
>be me
>get off work early
>decide to check out a pawnshop down the street to see if they have any good deals or gunsmith specials in a barrel
>read all the time on /k/ of all the great buys found at pawnshops so I get my hopes up
>walk in
>you could say I found a lot of gunsmith specials
>about all of the guns on the racks
>rusted beat up over under they probably paid some guy 50 bucks for
>$500
>worn out old Henry lever action they probably Jewed off a grandpa
>$1100
You get the picture
>far end of the shit excuse of an inventory
>see good looking SKS
>ask for price
>$225
>no way
>ask to see it
>figures, not a single matching number to be found
>can't complain, fair enough price for at least great condition, even if it doesn't match
>filling out 4473, on the second page, about to sign
>bitch walks back up to me
>yeah sorry I read the price tag wrong
>it's actually $450
>mfw
>try to explain that it's not even fucking worth near that
>in one ear and out the other
>she's the owners daughter and doesn't have the authority to lower the price
>what the fuck ever
>turn 360 and walk away
Fuck pawnshops
I know they have to make a profit and all but it's fucking slimey to give people half of what their gun is worth, even if it's not even worth triple digits, and then try to sell it for what one would cost brand new
>>33046934
It's pretty ridiculous. Even at the gun show some people were selling beat up M91/30s for like $350 and saying "hurr durr make me an offer". I realize you want a good deal for yourself but I'm not going to spend that time arguing with you to get the the point where you're only raping me a little on the price. Just give a straight honest price and we'll both be happy.
>>33046934
Some pawn shops are great, others are super Jews. There are 3 pawn/gun shops near me and 1 has good guns and always gives me great deals on whatever I buy from them while the other 2 overprice all their guns by at least $200-$300 and sell scopes and accessories above MSRP.
Which is better?
In a duel or on the battlefield? What time period?
>>33046804
Both.
First line with spear & shield, second line without shield but with longer pikes.
(and obviously plenty of the same behind to fill any gaps in the lines)
>>33046804
>not dual wielding two spears
I dont know shit about guns, but I live in Chicago and I'm certainly considering it.
I was considering a 9mm for home defense
and a .22 for target practice.
Is that recommended?
Are there any guns between the 2 ammo types that feel similar enough to where it wouldn't feel that different when interchanging? I'd just prefer the cheaper ammo over the long run for practice, and having actual self defense ammo loaded in, and safely stored in my room at all times, while my target practice gun would simply be locked in my car in the trunk or something.
>I live in Chicago
no guns for you
>>33046638
>I live in Chicago
Ha ha ha ha ha

>>33046648
Pretty sure handguns are openly sold, considering there are at least 2 gun shops within my area.
only "assault" weapons are banned from what I understand, whatever that means.
Remmington 700
I am interested in purchasing a remmington 700 bdl in left hand. I am aware of the recall and this gun falls under the recall date. It has a ribbed trigger, though I'm not sure this makes any difference.
>>33046618
Since you're wrong handed why don't you just blow your brains out mutant?
Get a lefthanded Savage instead. You're less likely to misspell Savage.
>>33046624
I've considered this, but I think that buying a rifle would be cheaper than a funeral.
/k/ can you explain to me why we still need fighter jets. Can we not use satellites and ground launched weaponry to do everything they do, for less money and fewer casualties?
Honest question, please no bully.
>>33046575
>Can we not use satellites and ground launched weaponry to do everything they do, for less money and fewer casualties?
No.
>>33046575
Cost efficiency
>>33046575
First off, what >>33046642 said. You seriously underestimate how ridicously expensive it would be to replace every role filled by airplanes with satellites.
On top of that, there is also the military-industrial complex to feed.
is there atleast any chance to restore a rifle or a machine gun to working condition? been thinking for a while to buy a metal dectector and try searching for ww2 relics near some battle sights

it's possible, but it's gonna depend on what you find. I've seen some fuckin magic done with electrolysis. Something like your pic? doubtful without some major fabrication on the level of completely rebuilding the bitch from scratch.
Not a chance in hell. The rust is the only thing holding it together. Even if you managed to clean it down to bare metal, it would be so pitted and deformed.
