Why boxes? Why no love for the other platonic solids? I mean try drawing one of these bad boys head on, that's already a challenge, let alone in perspective.
>>3097141
dude I asked about this awhile ago and no one replied.
I think platonic solids are useful, if you approach it as, "create a icosahedron from a box; in perspective."
It would be wise to print out some templates and add them to your still life setup. Wouldnt hurt to study platonic shapes from life.
Because boxes are more simple and you should learn how to draw basic prisms before anything else.
>>3097229
How does a box fit into an icosohedron?
Asking a favour to our community if you could vote for my entry in Australia's Tradie of the Year comp.
I'm looking to blow the other contestants out if the water with your help.
TIA

I'd like it like pic related, very stately and unstyalized, but I don't want it to be too objective. I want to see how an artist would depict me. I'm very curious.
How would I go about doing that? Is it very expensive and time consuming? You don't have to sit for 10 hours do you?
>>3094399
>I Want to Commission a Self-Portrait
Are you sure you know what self portrait means?
>>3094403
No. I am art-illiterate, that is why I am asking here.
I am assuming it is a portrait of yourself.
>>3094399
if you want it in actual paint then it'd be pretty expensive, depending on the artist you probably would have to sit for quite a few hours, but you don't have to sit still usually.
if you want a digitally one done by someone on the internet from a photo that would be much cheaper
Hello /ic/, I'd like to share this guy's work with you all and I hope you guys can share too :

It would be really cool if there are any of his patrons or ex-patrons here that can share his artwork and tutorials that aren't available at CGPeers.
This will be wholeheartedly appreciated
Have a good day.

That's not nice OP.
Hi guys,
I've always wanted to be an anime artist but life got in the way. Recently, I've been watching Mark Crilley videos and I figured if an old guy like him can draw then so can I? Anyway, I've been at this for 1 year now and I'm just not seeing any progress. Can I still "make it" or am I too old?
>>3097498
Can't you old fuckers at least not fall for the animango meme?
>>3097498
Mark Crilley is an excellent resource recommended here. Just go through his videos and I also recommend Draw with Jazza. If you use their videos for another year before you go balding you'll git good in no time.
>>3097503
Oh, is that supposed to be funny? You know I've been browsing here for a while and I've seen countless hate threads of jazza which I believe to be an above average artist. Mark Crilley on the other hand is phenomenal and i'll regard any negative comment about him as coming from a place of hatred and jealously.
Now, I did not come on this board to have my favorite artists ridiculed as amusing it may seem to your youngsters out here who have nothing better to do with your freetime than be jack asses online and disparage successful artists. I came here for hope. I came here to hear the opinions of artists who started at my age and still found success. Thank you. PLease refrain from shitposting.
Hello, /ic/! Over there at Kiwifarms, great artists have taken their time and effort into redrawing the artwork and designs for YandereDev's game, "Yandere Simulator" respectively. The original artist and character designer is kjech from deviantART. What are your thoughts and opinions on their work?
What do you guys think of WritScrib? Apparently it's some livejournal like site that will allow posters to earn money somehow. It's being shilled a lot on Tumblr because it will somehow destroy Tumblr and become a better community? I don't really know but what are your thoughts if you've heard of it?
I'm cautiously excited. I got tired of Tumblr's tantrums long ago and deleted. The person behind Writscrib sounds reasonable but I still don't want to get my hopes up about the site itself.
I want desperately for it to be good, and on paper it sounds that way. But I'm sure that it's going to have its own share of problems even if it ends up successful, and that's a huge 'if'.
I imagine that a ton of people who are rightfully sick of tumblr will jump ship the second the site drops but whether they'll buy into the weird micro-transaction system they're going to rely on to stay afloat is another question.
>>3096976
>the weird micro-transaction system
After going through most of the available information, this bit is what worries me. The demographics of the site will look to be mainly underageds and otherwise people not looking to spend money on a fucking blogging website. Like most things involving microtransactions there's going to be the whales with income to burn just buying the biggest 'chip' package just for the sake of it, and then handing them out as they please. The majority of users will just not buy anything, or buy only a few chips at a time for the pay-for-view posts. After all, why pay a fanart/fic site of all things when there are completely free sites that don't require money to view and like posts already in place?
Should this be the case, only artists that cater to the big buyers will get the attention. And then more and more, considering that there seems to be no free likes or favorites system, so should there be a front page or the like for popular posts only the highest-paid artists will get that exposure.
I would be on board for this if the chip system were additional to a bookmark system like pixiv uses, so that the top posts are the ones people bookmark(or like, or favorite, etc) the most, not the ones that encourage people to pay for them. As it stands, I foresee this to devolve into yet another host for smutty fanart and fanfic.
However I haven't gone through all the Q&A, so my quibbles may have been answered already. But in any case, all I really want is a good, casual, English-speaking gallery site catering to artists. Gimmicks like these should be left at that, a gimmick, and shouldn't be expected to sustain a community, let alone a website.
Hey so I've been contemplating quitting the art scene lately...I've seen no growth this year here is a practice sketch i did of one of my most favorite artists Waveloop (as known on Instagram Deviant Art etc...) this year my focus was on torso anatomy and still I feel no growth. I may upload some more if you want to see but idk I'm 22 at the moment is it too soon to quit?
Its always too soon to quit yet in a purely existential sense its never too soon to quit.
>>3097028
>posts a sketch referencing a popular artists' work
>complains about lack of improvement over a short time
>mentions age
yep, it's a shitpost
elaborately crafted, I'll give you that
>>3097036
well desu I feel the same I did last year and I do practice from life and such but style wise I reference my favorite artists to add to my own style which is why I shared a quick sketch. And yes I mentioned my age but still there are people younger than me accomplishing more while I sit at home practicing and finally getting a job in over 7 months.
Im somewhat new here, i usualy show my art to my friends , gf, and family. but no one realy knows how to draw or anything about art. so their " wow that looks incredible!! " dosent realy satisfy me. looking through a few threads, ive come to the opinion that you guys here at 4chan are the hardest, coldest mother f**kers, when it comes to critique. so ima upload some of my best works over the years and id like to hear you honest opinion.
this first drawing is of an old co worker. i tried to make it as realistic as possible.
OP here.
Heres another!
HAHAHA I GET IT
as you can tell i just draw with paper pen and pencil. scaning usualy fks up the shading alittle. but that was with my old scaner. i got a new one a year ago. thisone scans much cleaner.
What is a process for making these?
>Draw a grid
>distort edges to form recognizable shapes
>cut out template piece and trace across page
It's called a tessellation, brainlet.
>>3097188
I know its called a tesselation. I didn't even mean a process for crafting it. I meant a process for making the design.
>>3097198
I think it's kinda what anon told you dude. You do that with the basic idea in mind and work your idea to fit the shape. Once you do one, you've basically done the whole thing unless you're doing it pen and ink (i.e. not digitally). Even doing it pen and ink tho you can use digital software to turn it into a tessellation from there.

This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make anime works in-between their studies, however, all forms of stylization is welcome here. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.
Submit your drawings, receive feedback or critique others! Share your knowledge and remember to thank those who've critiqued or red-lined your drawings. Most importantly, one must not forget what fun is!

Looks like she has an index fingger instead of a thumb.
How come one artist be so lazy, yet so exquisitely sensible of colors and image patterns. Warhol might be a total hack, but you can't deny that he was very talented and influential. Also, I like how he didn't betray his philosophy of creating mass produced art for the mass produced, fast food society.
>>3092964
And Warhol influence is one of the best things to ever happen to visual arts.
