Why do people say this? Obviously, the work in there is gonna be shit. If someone does improve, they move on to the drawthread or alt styl thread. Saying /beg/ thread doesn't improve because there is shit art is kind of redundant...

is this.. just a meta thread?
if so kill yourself

I had to sell my house and pack everything away to show the house and move to my new house. I haven't drawn or painted in 3 months and now I'm so rusty that I feel like I'm learning to walk all over again.
Has anyone else taken a break and suffered the same consequences?
What did you to do to get back into it without giving up?
>>3094865
You did not give up, you just fell off the horse. Giving up means never thinking about picking up the pencil again to pursue something else while shitposting on /ic/ for 16 hours a day to bring others down in misery with you.
>>3094865
>Has anyone else taken a break and suffered the same consequences?
Yes, but i got back at it again fairly quickly, don't get too frustrated
>>3094865
The good news is, more hours of practice you put in, the less you will lose by taking a break. If I took a 3 months break it would have basically no effect cause I've been drawing for 10 years.
hey writers out there check out my stuff and share yours

Why is Ron Lemen so difficult to master?
>>3094841
He's just ferocious like that. Strong, independent and beautiful. Deal with it.
I'm afraid to show my portfolio to my art school because It may be rejected like hitler because is filled with realism and anime pieces, like most of this board.
So, what non realistic styles should I learn and how do I learn them?
>>3094751
You should get rejected and become the new Hitler, it has been far too long.
>>3094751
>going to art school with anime in your portfolio
>>3094751
don't worry, art schools won't turn your money away no matter how shit you are
Hello !
I'm really bad at drawing and unable to use programs like PhotoShop.
But I really want to create a fursona who will be my avatar.
In fact I would like to start streaming on twitch but I need and avatar and stuff like banners ... but I'm really bad at design and stuff like that :(
The photo is an exemple for my fursona , it isn't my work and wasn't designed for me so I can't use it as an avatar that describes me :/
[I know that "furries" may have a bad image because of the fetish stuff .. but there is nothing like this in my request ^^ I just like the design :) ]
Is anyone free to give me a hand ? Thank you a lot !
All credits to the artist of course
>>3094609
Oh wow how generous
>Is anyone free to give me a hand ?
Somebody is free without a doubt, but nobody would do it for free
So I have an Upwork account, and someone just messaged me to do a storyboard test. But this was his message:
>"Are you able to do a test on this? I will be selecting a freelancer tomorrow, and the final output has to be delivered before August 13. Budget is $40 all in to storyboard four scenes from the pitch script. If you're alright with this, please find attached the first third of the script and accomplish this test:
Storyboard sample for Sequence 3 Scene 3 (this is one of the four scenes to be boarded upon selection)
Freelancer will be chosen from applicants based on the quality of their test submission. If the pitch is successful, the same freelancer will be hired to storyboard the additional necessary scenes as chosen by the executive producer with a working budget of $250."
Is this guy asking me to do free work for him? How much does one usually charge for storyboards? $40 for four sequences does not sound like a lot.
The guy also attached his script, and the sequence in question will be at least 10 panels.
Thoughts?
Test =/= Free work
Of course, you won't know until you do it and get hired. It's impossible to know really, but that's what you get for being a freelancer with no legitimate contacts.
>>3093835
That sounds absolutely shit tier.
>>3093850
Tests are usually done by real companies and studios for in-house applicants. No self-respecting freelancer does a "test" to apply for a fucking 40$ commission with the prospect of maybe doing another 250$ commission at a later date.
photographer here
do you guys critique composition, lighting (or in your case shading/illumination) etc?
or just stick to brush strokes and what not?
would it be alright if i made threads here to display and converse about my work? /p/ is dead and summer killed it, too much drama and gearfaggotry happening and all the good/old photographers are gone.
I read the rules and there isn't any mention of photography being allowed or not allowed. I understand there may be a certain threshold of quality of photographs to be accepted here, no snapshits and whatnot.
i'd be happy to allow (you) to draw/paint my photos if anyone would like to do so.
>pic related is a photo i took a long time ago
>>3093687
Photography has a completely different set of goals and standards, and has no place in drawing and painting threads. If you just want attention, create a Tumblr or Instagram.
Go post in /p - it's dead because you're not posting THERE.
>>3093722
fair enough, /p/ is dead for whole different reason, anywho thanks anon, stay safe
>>3093687
I bet if you made threads with a focus that people try drawing landscapes and things from your pictures, it'd go better
why does /ic/ hate on artists who are better than them? especially the female ones
they stop studying and exercising, instead they got moderately decent and then they sell out drawing porn or fanart for the rest of their lives because it pays the bills.
its sad seeing a good artist lose their motivation for improving.
>>3093340
I don't.
I don't talk shit about anybody better than me
>>3093340
I have nothing against female artists personally, however those feminists who judge your work based on your gender can be rather annoying
>hate on artists who are better than them
Yeah I've noticed the best artists on here get the most shit, the only exception being Vetyr
The purpose of this thread is to allow the community to learn together and provide accountability for interested Anons. We will go through lessons and books together to provide us with some structure. Through these experiences we will find how we compare to our peers; which will hopefully drive us to improve and add credibility to critiques. This thread is mainly for beginners, but artists of all levels can join. For those that are not interested, you don't have to join.

Post your work in this thread for critique.
Do we fucking need two of these idiotic threads ffs?

No damn it, I was going to make a proper one. Delete this.
As more or less experienced artists and knowing what you know now:
Which ones would be the first things you would do/not do?
What would you work on first?
>>3090852
i would have focused on being expressive and using design well. i think with some more experience that it's actually way easier to start with the abstract elements of a picture and then work out how to do the formal stuff then it is to start with a sort of diagrammatic figure and try and make to stretch and bend it into some appealing.
although i think some people have like a natural primacy of design, so like they're always trying to make good pictures, even when they're practicing technical stuff, so they can probably skip focusing on design first, but i shouldn't have
>>3090852
I would work on refining my sight size measuring through rigourouse studies. Aswell as sketch a ton from life, pictures and imagination to expand my visuall library.
Thumbnailing more. Composition is important
>/ic/ will defend this.
what?

The chin
Is anyone here using medibang paint to draw artwork or manga? Is it good?
I do, it's pretty nice for a free program. I like how the interface is nice and simple. The brushes kinda suck though, compared to the brushes you can get in Photoshop or Krita, but I make do just fine by using whatever brushes it has to offer. The cloud feature is nice too, because I use my phone to draw sometimes so it's nice to be able to transfer art over to my computer conveniently.

WAAAH WHY THE FUCK IS PAINTING SO FUCKING HARD?

>>3094583
Have you tried doing the CTRL Paint course on color?
What do you think about it? Is there anything that you want to improve in particular? What was you're inspiration for this?
I think you should go for a more interesting pose and show her face, you'll improve more as an artist if you push yourself
