You are symbol drawing in your portrait. The figure is leaning at an opposing angle to the reference.

It doesn't even look like you were trying with this image.

When drawing or paintg, start with the biggest shape or shapes first then slowly cut down to the details. A good way to avoid symbol drawing is to draw the NEGATIVE space around your subject instead of the space itself.

When drawing from observation, don't think of your subject, in this case, a face, as a face, instead, see it as a bunch of weird abstract shapes.

Color and Light - James Gurney

Don't judge it by the cover. This book breaks down painting in a super simple manner. He covers everything you need to know, makes palette and mixing suggestions, illustrates all the different kinds of light and shadow you'll deal with from the studio to real life, and talks about stylistic things. Read this book and paint every fucking day. In a few months, you'll be where you want. Just don't be unrealistic with your goals.

You're obviously trying hard to make it work, and I really don't want to bring you down, but you have to improve your drawing skills.You show promise by the way you're dealing with tones, and the technique isn't half bad, but you're going to keep hitting a roadblock if you don't start drawing correctly.

Well, starting to hate your older work is usually a sign that you are improving, or at the very least developing a better taste and higher standards. So that's nothing bad, just don't obsess over it. Focus on doing the best you can each time you work on something new and forget about the old stuff.

Unless you're posting cringy fetish shit and OCs, I don't see why you should be ashamed of it. People love inspirational improvement stories.

Ironclad/nogariko, yes you need mental help. Not because you're crazy but because you want recognition without criticism. The world doesn't work like that. If you're trying to do that you'll stay in the situation you are now in forever.

How to cure this?
1 stop publishing your stuff. Draw for yourself or publish it here anonymously so you won't need to create /delete new accounts on shit sites. Once you feel confident make your own page.
OR
2 grow some balls, fight the urge to delete and leave your stuff where it is. If you embarrassed about it, practice, publish new stuff and show off how well you've progressed comparing your art to your doodles.

Post some of your shit, let everyone roast you for it, and once you've taken enough punches to your balls you'll be tough enough to repel the shit they throw at you.

Here I've drawn some shit and anyone is welcome to criticize me for it. There will be at least 1 motherfucker who will say it's utter shit and I don't give a damn because I will either improve and do better next time or I like it as it is and others opinion doesn't matter. There.
