His rise to fame was meteoric.
His artwork was played every 20 minutes on the big screen in time square.
He painted the Berlin Wall.
His artwork can be seen around the world still.
He wasn't effected by art critics.
Bffl with Andy Warhol.
Literally did it for the kids.

Why haven't we seen an artist rise to this level of superstardom since Keith Haring? How did he get so famous so fast? Was it Andy Warhol? Was it the fact kids fucking loved his artwork (me and my brothers)? Was it because his art was in the public domain? I remember watching MTV one day and he was painting the entire set. Anyone else love Keith? He got me into art.

My 4 years old loves Kieth Haring which is pretty cool. Every interview I've seen with him, he comes off as a nice, geeky guy that really enjoyed making art for everybody. I'm definitely a fan.

Are there any tutorials or basic steps I can take to start replicating this style?

Find concept art and selected works by the main artist and study them. Try to get into their head, and break down the process.

Replicate, understand, repeat.

Draw minimum 2 hours a day.

My new years resolution last year was to draw every day and although I stuck with that, that usually only entailed doing mindless doodles for like half an hour with the very infrequent actual study session.

I ain't gonna make it if I don't step up my game.

i hate to admit it but neopets
i was one of those ten year old girls who made sparkledogs and petpages for our speshul wolf OCs with tragic pasts to explain how they ended up as our pets in the first place. i made no friends on neopets because i sucked at roleplaying so i continued focusing on drawing and surpassing everyone and then eventually leaving neopets for deviantart while the rest still play neopets to this day and never improved their art skills, or they went over to tumblr to become SJWs

How do you design a character.
I'm currently stuck with a faceless, empty character and I can't dress him.
I looked for Moebius' chara design because I want to make some sort of engineer but with a completely fantasy output, but not medieval or futuristic. Something you can't really put a period or time on.

Personally, I like to design from the inside out; as if I'm using the characters in a book or a story. I find it makes it easier when designing outfits, poses, accessories, etc. Most don't like this method but it works for me.

IMO in your case it would be better to establish what a singular esthetic of the characters 'goal' might be. Even though it has no time period (which could just translate to 'modern'), it has to have some kind of easily recognizable but universal base qualities (e.g. Engineer=tools, mechanical parts, oil/grime spots, schematics etc.) You could just pick an adjective or a noun and work off that if you want. Or you can establish a form and function and mess with them. Experiment. Simplify. Experiment some more.

Instead of starting with a mannequin, try doing really quick thumbnails and branch off that. Draw some prominent, but simple, shapes. Write down what they might carry on their person when leaving thier 'comfort' space. Are they pragmatic or flamboyant? What kind of engineering do they do? Do they take care of themselves or is their only goal in life to work? These things (and others) will affect how they are presented to the outside world.

Anyway, I hope it helps. Sorry for the long post and any English mistakes.

Well in my drawing, the central point is a character stuck on the window of a building, at first I wanted to make some sort of thief, but while drawing I thought, what if I make him some sort of engineer/worker who is working on the facade of the building for some reason.

I thought about making him mainttained by cables, but overall I have an issue with th easthetic aspect.
I guess working with a more "scenaristic" approach might help. I'll try that. What tools does he uses, like you said.

I decided to post this here. I would like a critique of a opening of a story I'm thinking of writing. I'm not a very good story writer and I'd like to learn something. I posted on /tg/ but they weren't being very helpful. Picture is completely unrelated.

I mean it'll probably be like a live-journal thing or whatever but its something.

Once upon a time there was a dark lord named Ronald. Despite coming from a long line of dark lords, having a particularly evil family Ronald wasn't very evil at all. Some might go as far as saying he was moderately pleasant to be around. His brothers and sisters all became legendary evil underlings of the great Lord of Darkness. It was even rumored that his eldest brother Demogorgon was going to usurp the title of Lord of Darkness himself.

Ronald was at the age of all dark lords where they had to chose whether to serve the Lord of Darkness or strike it out on his own. Many dark lords who were young opted to join the Lord of Darkness as it would guarantee them security and provide them with luxuries they were accustomed to. They could study magic and become a great sorcerer like his sister Nephi, perhaps they would aspire to become a black knight like his middle brother Matchite. There were many other jobs and ranks but none so coveted as his Eldest brother's Demogorgons job of Dark General.

However the internal politics of the evil Lord of Darkness didn't interest Ronald that much. Lord of Darkness despite his immense power was always fighting with his neighbors and trying to fend off constant attempts on his life. It was rumored that the previous lord of darkness Sam'il became so obsessed with protecting himself from assassins that he died by setting off his own traps. Ronald would have to strike out on his own.

How do I draw good anime eyes?

I don't mean how to draw a generic anime eye in a generic style from the front, I mean, what kind of 3d shape a big, expressive with thick eyelashes makes? There are plenty of pictures (and of course real life) to take reference for real eyes, but for anything more abstract it's just symbols. I know most people who draw moe just memorize how it should look from most angles, but I find this inefficient if you want to have a little face variation on your characters.

Know the structure of the face, where the eyes sit in the sockets. From here its just practice and stylistic choices.

Why /ic/ always parrots these meaningless phrases that sound smart to retards?

I can draw realistic eyes. My problem is with stylization.

Bumping because I need ideas, too. Some things off the top of my head:

-selling prints through sites like tictail, maybe deviantart? idk

-posting your originals on instagram and putting your contact info in your bio so people can email you to ask for the price

-make your own website

-I have no idea what I'm saying
>>
>>2799575
Getting tables at conventions might help you out more than selling on tictail (which won't get you any traffic unless you advertise it a lot), building an online presence via constant updates and stuff to engage your audience (giveaways or daily challenges) will also be helpful
>>
Bump, I need help on this too. How do you even get a table at a con? I've seen like, really shitty webcomic artists at cons before, but they always have merch and stuff.
I know there are sites like red bubble and patreon, and you can use those to raise money. But what other options are there, aside from leveraging an online presence into some studio or commission work?
