I honestly don't know how to add texture/intricate detail to objects.

I mean I -know- and I can get away with some bullshitting, but really it ends up looking fake-ish or unnatural.

SO, I ask /ic/ for some help to collect good material references that would be good to study. I'll post a few to get the ball rolling.

What's the oldest age you can still begin and still make it as an artists?
I'm not talking about mid twenty guys, I'm talking mid thirtiest, mid 40 or even 50.

Does it matter? The only difference is when you're older, you aren't going to work long hours for shit pay. One or the other is not on the bargaining table.

Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.

AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:

#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (I recommend ShareX)

#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller

#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new (and cleaner) sticky in town! You can see it at:

>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

Serious question. If all I want to do is draw anime girls, and I cannot draw, will trying to replicate pictures of anime girls everyday all the time make me able to draw them?
I don't really want to draw anything else.

Youll probably get better if you're really dedicated. Dont be surprise if the first 50 are utter shit. Soon though, if you're like me, youll start to crave more ways to spice up your craft and make it more professional, and drawing things besides anime babes will become 2nd hand. Thats not to say that there are a fair number of people who never step beyond their boundaries and keep drawing same face and same rendering after many years

Post your current drawing here and be an asshole to others!
Please make sure your posted image is clear, DOWNSIZED TO AROUND 1000 PIXELS WIDE, ROTATED TO THE CORRECT ORIENTATION, and that any unused space is cropped.
If you want critique on a drawing from the previous thread, you can delete it there and repost in this one and then kill yourself.

This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make anime works in-between their studies. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.

Submit your drawings, receive feedback or critique others! Share your knowledge and remember to thank those who've critiqued or red-lined your drawings. Most importantly, have fun!

Recently got really into the work of Nicholas di Genova (pic related) and it left me with some questions:

Do you ever get tired of seeing pictures of people?

Do you know of any illustrators or artists whose work doesn't concentrate on human or human-like creatures, or doesn't concentrate on creatures at all?

If there are abstract artists, are there any "abstract" illustrators?

I can recommend the works of American Artist Frederick Church, and of American contemporary Steven Kozar.

If you'd like something more experimental then I think Scottish artist Peter Doig is one of the best artists working within avant-garde boundaries

Can we start a general tablet thread? I know there's several other specific threads so maybe this can simultaneously condense that and get a few questions answered for myself.

I'm building a computer in the next year to upgrade my set-up, there's no way my pocket book can handle a Cintq, so I've been looking at alternatives and was wondering if any of you have had personal experience with the Yiynova monitors. I currently use a Surface Pro 1 for most of my work. Are you using anything else, what are your thoughts on that?

Sup guys let me start by saying I absolutely think I have no talent to draw, my imagination is shit tier and I cannot pass it on paper. Whenever I try something, it looks nothing like I imagined, I have no awareness on how to pass depth, proportions etc on paper. This depresses me as I really want to draw but don't know where to start.

Please share some tips with me, some tutorials, my hand and brain feel disconnected. Also some positive stories (Of people that sucked but got real good) would help. Thanks
