Never lurked /ic/. I do fictional animal skeleton articulations. Bones are individually cast from 2-part smooth cast resin and painted to match the skull of a squirrel. It's grasping a grackle skull in its mits. Resting on laminated oak with brass name plate.

Cool stuff, any way we can get more angles? I wouldn't mind using this as a reference if I can.
Yes, but can you caulk a bathroom?
>>2825374
Professionals get out, go back to cuckdit. This is the place where the wretched artists create diseased art, not shitty bone statue.
I really wanna find a website where I actually meet art-friends who have mutual interests but I feel like most websites arent really optimized for that. I feel like its too hard to talk to people on tumblr and DA is way too overcrowded. Not really sure what other website would have sense of community like DA had back in 2008

Crimson Daggers, Permanoobs, and CA are still around. Maybe not lively, but around.
Post in a few sketchbooks and you may find a new circle.

Tell me what works and what doesn't. What needs to be fixed? Little things that bother your eye? Big things? I need to finish this by tomorrow. Thanks

Is that Adam Jensen?
>>2819918
is the banana supposed to be a subtle reference to your view of black men as "monkeys" who are stealing all your beautiful korean women?
i always enjoy how subtly racist chunbum is.
>>2819964
also is that literally a white man carrying away a korean woman presumably implying that white men are rapists? do you HAVE to be such a cunt?
What's the point of drawing photorealistic paintings or autistically accurate bone and muscle structures when real life always looks better? Why not focus on aesthetic qualities that real life objects will never posses instead of copying every single tiny aspect of nature? Painters like Masaccio are adored for their powerful scenarios, poses, and image composition, not for their crazily accurate visuals.
I'd more interested in having something like this hanging on my wall, something that conveys a vibe or emotion.

>that face
>awkward anatomy
Yeah I'm not getting much of an emotional effect here
>>2823112
What's wrong with modern artists is their selfishness, hopelessness, and banality. Imagination wise, they're sufficiently visionary, but all they think about is me me me. They create art for themselves, the meaning is only meaningful for themselves, that's their idea of what is whole. That's why their arts look so unappealing for other people. In contrast, artists in the past were selfless religious people who created art for God and other people. They want to create something that is meaningful for everyone, they aimed for something that gives humanity hope. That's why the themes they created are so emotionally powerful.
I'm curious, I used to lurk here years ago when I was working nightshift. I didn't know how to draw at all but I read some books and has you guys redlink my mistakes and got to an art level I was comfortable with. Either way. Someone posted this picture they were working on and I liked it and put it on a coffee mug. It occurred to me it might be interesting for the original artist to know I have been drinking out of his work for like 6 years or so now if they still hang out here.
Neat OP, I saved that as well when it was first posted here. I don't think that guy posts work here anymore, sadly.
>>2824053
I don't have the original anymore. Just the cup
Any of you got references for /fit/ female body types? I'm annoyed when i look on tumblr or pinterest and it's just models with big butts.
Hi /ic/.
So I drew this a few minutes ago. What can I do to improve it? The perspective seems off.
>>2814336
Also this was just a five minute doodle for fun if that helps.
>>2814340
If you want critique, put somework into it first.

>five minute doodle for fun
ey fuck you man
heeeheee its IS actually fun to draw!
http://www.alexhays.com/loomis/
Guys why didn't push this one over the rest? Its great! and actually fun (something all of gitgudders could use from time to time)
so far out of the ones I've read:
Fun with a pencil > Creative Illustration > Head and hands
haven't read figure drawing , successful drawing or the eye of the painter. I actually own a hardcopy of creative illustration.
what's your favorite Andrew Loomis book and/or diagram/passage?
>>2824246
why is loomis a meme in the first place? some things in his books are actually solid teachings when it comes to figure drawing and dynamic poses
Figure drawing all the way
>>2826401
Beginners seem to think you only need to read the book once. No, reread hundreds of times.
Fun With a Pencil is unironically the greatest book written about art that's ever been produced
Hey guys
I've been an artist for a long time but since 2017 began I decided to work my ass off and finally learn fundamentals and learn to be a better artist.
Problem is ... i get depressed everytime i try to draw something on my own without ref. Today I looked at sakimichan's art and thought , oh well that shouldn't be too hard to do. I tried to do something but i fucked up and it got me depressed.
How do you cope with not being a good artist ? And depression due to being sucky at art ?
>>2823040
You don't overestimate yourself and underestimate a master like sakimichan. You are shit, just admit it and move on. Get better until you're not shit.
>>2823040
Bite the table and get back to drawing Miguel
>>2823040
You just produce shit and move on. Don't try anything grand. Just sketch and do shit. All you gotta do is draw, and quality be damned. Just fill a page or two. Gesture sketch. Doodle.
Don't think too hard about it, anon.
>anime girls heads are 3d shapes
Good ones are. That one looks like trash even at the optimal angle. Is this a joke?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhl5afLEKdo
>>2825916
That doesn't look like anime, it's look like a plastic doll trying to imitate anime.
>>2825909
2D animation has tricks so that the animator has an easier time animating but it also has the benefit of making things clearer to the viewer. You have to do very dynamic stuff if you want to replicate the effect in 3D.
Am I wasting my time working with an eraser-less pencil if a Pentel Twist-Erase always gives me my best results?
My drawing instructor has pushed me to use a clutch pencil since he claims it has “saved him as a professional artist” and feels every drawing outside of class I do should be with a clutch pencil to develop faster skills.
I haven’t improved much with a clutch pencil in two years and I find it tiresome to constantly point my lead.
I just got some of those too op. I like them. I'm self taught so I can't relate to having rules dictated to me but if it works, keep using it.
And how exactly did a lead holder "save him" / how is it going to help you improve faster? It sounds like your instructor is just full of shit tbhq. It's still only a pencil, use whatever you like best.
It's a meme.
"If you can draw from life, you can't draw from imagination. But if you can draw from imagination, you can draw from life."
Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Absolutely.

TATTOO THREAD
IREZUMI MURICA EDITION.
>>2825678
I'm starting to work on my tattooing portfolio so I can become a tattoo apprentice, and I've noticed that /ic/ never seems to have ANY tattoo threads, why is that??
>>2825680
>>2825684
Are they any good compared to brick and mortar ateliers?
>>2824423
avoid them, nothing compares to the experience of live drawing in a class, online its always an echo chamber and everybody looks to get it over as fast as possible
>>2826381
What if there aren't any ateliers where I live?
>>2824423
I don't really care for the modern art but that looks comy as fuck still
Do you use porn to have good nude poses?
A few gif I saved are helpful to visualize the body in volume
The answers you will get will be - "It depends on the lighting, most porn has it awful".
But yeah, I agree that HD porn is very good for poses and other stuff.
