Posting some pictures I've found of groups of people. Seems like a useful thing to study drawing.
>get a message from some guy who wants a comission from you
>tells how much he likes your work and stuff
>you both talk and you ask him for references
>tell him that price depends on what exactly he wants
>get references and talk more - everything goes cool!
>SO...HOW MUCH IT WILL BE? :D - he asking
>you sit for a hour being embarassed fo yourself because you dont know what to answer
I feel like if i say my actual price, i might scare him away. And i dont want to do that because hes a nice person and his idea of a drawing really fits me.
But i also dont want to be cheap.
fucking hate this shit.
How other people dealing with this?
Do you have the same problem?
>>2818143
Why would you not research and make a price list before taking commissions? You dumb as hell son
>>2818165
>a price list before taking commissions?
im not "taking comissions" in terms of DA/tumblr.
I just post drawings and sometimes get messages like that.
Im just a little shy and dont want to put a post where i say that i want 120$ for a full body picture.
Because on Deviantart or Tumblr people paying 5$ for a full body picture.
Its just...i mostly work with videogame companies and they are ok with paying 120$ for a concept.
But we talking about teenagers and early students in their 20-something. Im afraid they dont want to pay that much or dont have money.
I remember when i was in my early 20s. I most certainly wouldnt pay that much for a picture because i didnt had money,
>>2818171
So what if they don't have money? Does that make your work less valuable? If you can sell for $120, why would you want to sell for less?
It's not about them, it's about you. They're not the ones putting in the work. They're complete strangers on the internet, you don't owe them any favors.
detail on a 3D sculpture project for university, modelled in zbrush, I study 3D animation. First completed zbrush sculpture but there was a lot of concept art and prep work completed beforehand
I really want to continue down this route of digital sculpture and flesh out my digital 3D portfolio, any thoughts or feedback? Going for more "artistically" inspired pieces that are interesting for me, c&c also welcome!

that looks really cool anon.

This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make anime works in-between their studies. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.
Submit your drawings, receive feedback or critique others! Share your knowledge and remember to thank those who've critiqued or red-lined your drawings. Most importantly, have fun!

Thanks!
I always studied from photos but I noticed that a lot of good artists studied from drawing life. Also a friend of mine who studies in Art College has to draw from life every day there and he made some good improvements. But that's probably because they make him draw every day.
I've tried a couple of times in uni to draw my lecture room but didn't really look good so I gave up.
Is there any benefits from drawing from Life that we can't obtain from drawing from photos ?
>>2827592
It keeps you from procrastinating on a computer.
Also lets you see things as closely or as far as you want. Let's you see the actual form as you move your head side to side. You can also actually see an object which makes it feel real unlike a photo.
>>2827592
>Is there any benefits from drawing from Life that we can't obtain from drawing from photos ?
Learning how to actually draw.
People who learn to draw from photos are always worse than those who learn to draw from life.
The reason is that drawing from life is harder. And to prove this: A CHALLENGE!!
Place something somewhat complex in front of you, like a person, or one of those glued on figurines. Now draw it. You get 30 minutes and you can not move it.
When that's done, take a photo of the thingy from the same angle as you drew it earlier and draw it again. You get 30 minutes and can ONLY the photo as reference.
Drawing from photos are great. But it can spoil the shit out of you so that you believe yourself to be better than you actually are. Photos should be reserved for the artist who at least is familiar with drawing the subject from life and are not afraid of it.
>>2827615
I see thanks , so apart from that no big advantages than just photo studies ?
Well I'll include quick sketches from life into my schedule then.
What makes an aesthetic appealing? Looking at Persona 5, the actual art is animu tier, but somehow it's a fucking fantastic looking game. Is it witchcraft?
Everything from the character designs, the color scheme, the character models, the textures, the menu designs, the music, the animations, the effects, etc. serves to build to a cohesive aesthetic. That consistency is what makes it "good." The character model style they lifted from Catherine is really fucking nice, too.

fuck off weebcuck
>>2826732
name exactly one vidya with a better looking aesthetic
Anyone done these?
The 10/1/10 challenge.
You draw an image three times, each time with decreasing time limits.
10 minutes for your first.
1 minute for the second.
10 seconds for the third.
You get it.
So 11 minutes, 10 seconds, you can spare that, right?
Ill start.
(Im a lefty, so I went from right to left to avoid smudging too much)
Heres another, to bump. Soz for orientation, on mobile.
>>2822573
Whats the point, you cant make anything good with 10 seconds. Hell, I'd say 1 minute is useless too, it may be only cool for really experienced artist who got faster naturally.
>>2822620
>Whats the point, you cant make anything good with 10 seconds.
Not OP, but that's not exactly the goal. It's an exercise, it forces you to prioritize what's absolutely necessary to capture your subject.
It's useful practice for if you're drawing a subject that might not be in the same place/pose 10 seconds later (like, say, an animal).
Is ourguy dead?

LMAO
Who?

Is he garbage tier or a world class artist?
>>2826812
His art looks good.
Lets see yours.
>>2826812
He has the potential to make good things, but he needs to slow down.
>>2826812
He has skills but i feel like he produces meh art. Think its mainly cause he works, so he doesn't have much freedom to explore various styles
>>12171062
what do you think of this "art" ?
>>2827868
That's a fucking ceremonial mask. It's not supposed to look good.
NEXT
>>2827868
Those wings were treated horribly. They look absolutely terrible. I hope this person doesn't kill too many birds without knowing how to mount them properly.
>>2827868
>That's a fucking ceremonial mask. It's not supposed to look good.
That makes no sense whatsoever. A ceremonial object is by definition all flair and no practicality.
It's obviously designed to be aesthetically pleasing.
mouse vs tablet? which is better
Are these threads reportable yet?
Some time ago, I was perusing the topic of economic inequality on wikipedia, and there was a painting in the side bar that caught my attention. I think it was an old oil painting, maybe 17-1800's? Victorian maybe? That may or may not be accurate... I know next to nothing of art history, or art in general, really. The picture on the left captures the tone of the one I'm looking for, but this isn't it.
The painting portrayed a bunch of fat wealthy bankers and other socialites seated in chairs. Beards, pocket-watches, top hats, etc.. Appeared to be a whole sea of them, perched upon the broken backs of the working class. Every individual was busy toiling away at some horrible labor while simultaneously holding up these fat, undeserving bastards.
It was a very poignant piece, one that sticks out in my mind, but now I can't seem to locate it anywhere. I was able to locate it somewhat easily before with a couple searches, the subject came up in conversation and I was surprised to discover its now difficult to find.
Kudos to anyone who can manage to locate this thing, I regret not writing down the name of the piece or the artist. Could by my ineptness, could be Google's political motivations. lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Shameless bump..
>>2827613
is it this?
>>2827728
I saw that one in my search results too... but no, that's not the one :(
But, I didn't take a closer look at this one until just now... curious though. thanks for the input!

How do I tell the difference between realist art & photocopy art?
They all kinda look the same to me but /ic/ has reamed me out in the past for not understanding the difference.
As an example I think this drawing of qt ari is human photocopier-tier rite? Complete guess... I don't know WHY it's photocopy instead of realist, but it looks flat enough to assume that
One more example here that I think is realist art... again I can't say why I think so, but this drawing seems more constructed
All realist & photocopy stuff seems to mimic reality in a very precise way. Yet /ic/ shits on photocopy but glorifies realist
And I can't tell the difference so I'm left mouth agape drool falling from my lower lip as I question the true value of my optic nerves
>>2827119
>And I can't tell the difference
Well obviously you can tell the difference considering you identified which were copied and which were drawn.
This guy recently went to our country to have a talk about art.
What's the appeal of his works? I honestly don't know. And is this guy for real? While other speakers talked about their progress and advice, this guy talked about his OCs, his weird OC projection called toby and just a lot of "me" things. I am getting narcissistic rape-y vibes from this dude during the talk. Plus the fact that he has a cult like following consist mostly of females.
Just wanna hear /ic/'s thoughts on him
