Need adv /ic/.
I've attended a 3d course in max and my father told this to an aquaintance of his who now wants me to come over to their video game studio and show sum stuff. They always need help with some very basic models and shit.
My issue is: no1 I am a 2D artist primarily
no2 max sucks and I'm planning on switching to Zbrush like the whole rest of the industry.
so I was thinking maybe doing a very low poly model in max and doing a proper sculpt in zbrush plus hand in my concepts for the thing I'll do.
the catch is i never used zbrush properly and i dont want to give off the impression that im primarily a 3d artist. The studio isnt really AAA but it definetly aint indie either.
wat do ic?? Should i just send in crappy max model (wich this guy knows i can do) or step up my game and do a zbrush model instead + concepts (wich he doesnt know i do)? Its nothing serious but it is a chance to see whats the industry like. Should i go balls deep or do what my dather told the guy i do. Hes already asking if ill come by or not, hes a senior 3D artist there.

Also forgot to mention he is fully aware im a total 3d beginner. They steel need help modeling rocks and buckets

>2d arist primarly
from what youre telling us, thats not the case anymore. take it or leave it. you cant do both.
>>
>>2831778

I would just talk to them about before hand. And if you don't have time or know how to get in contact with them prepare some stuff with max and zbrush. Show them the max and let them know the situation and if they are interested in seeing the other stuff you are prepared. If you want to do this, go for it. If your main reason for not wanting to shoot for this is that you are not a 3d artist as you say fine, but don't write it off entirely, as you can get work experience and possibly some connections down line line (plus they will pay you).

This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make anime works in-between their studies. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.

Submit your drawings, receive feedback or critique others! Share your knowledge and remember to thank those who've critiqued or red-lined your drawings. Most importantly, have fun!

The same way you design anything else:

What task is it supposed to perform or make easier?

Then once you have a general task then you decide a more specific part of that task it should do or help with.
>>
>>2831751
Oh and how it will perform said task.

So I was reading pic related, and besides the 10,000 hours meme the author talks about how crucial it is for people hoping to master a craft to have a good mentor early on in their lives.

I guess this is mostly for people who went to art school but did anyone here happen to find a good art mentor? how did it affect your art path? I guess internet friends can be considered mentors but I'm sure face to face instructors are much more effective if they take you under their wing. Do mentor-less artists reach a different peak than mentored artists?

/ic/ helped me understand the fundies instead of giving me asspats.

That book was talking about stealing your mentor's powerlevel then moving on until you couldn't anymore. In the end, it doesn't really matter if you had a mentor or not if you can manage to find your way around. Author says it's crucial because /beg/inners are lost so a mentor just makes it quicker since they know what you need to do to improve. /ic/ already does that until you get one or two years in. After that, /ic/'s power throttles and you need an actual mentor.
>>
>>2831228
thats funny cuz ic hasnt taught me shit
everyone just says "learn fundies" and expects beginners like me to just get it like OH, YEAH, I KNOW ABOUT THOSE, LET ME GO STRAIGHTAWAY TO LEARNING THEM!

well that's the price you pay (or save) for avoiding going to art school. learning on your own is twice as hard because you have to work twice: setting your curriculum, self critiquing, setting your deadlines, holding yourself accountable, and THEN also actually putting in the work. In school the teacher does the first half and you just show up and put in the work.

But learning on your own is pretty liberating for people who like going at their own pace and exploring at their own pace as well.

A Thread A Day

Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.

AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:

#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (I recommend ShareX)

#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller

#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new (and cleaner) sticky in town! You can see it at:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uwaXKU7ev6Tw_or__o8ARpUb6r2rCZYJGqwSFV9AD98/edit#bookmark=id.15jx3pyuimvj

>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

I see a lot of pixel art resources around, but I'm curious if there is good resources and communities based around creating low poly art like games in the 90s and early 2000's?

I'm inspired by the new game Devil Daggers.

Post your current drawing here and provide helpful criticism and advice to others!

This is not a thread to discuss your autism, the rest of the board is for that.

Please make sure your posted image is clear, DOWNSIZED TO AROUND 1000 PIXELS WIDE, ROTATED TO THE CORRECT ORIENTATION, and that any unused space is cropped.
If you want critique on a drawing from the previous thread, you can delete it there and repost in this one and then kill yourself.

changed some stuff, realized bow in left hand + axe in right hand makes no sense
also the legs were too short

the bow is pretty lazy, but it's a concept for a game where I was thinking the weapons would have flat shading so the color reads from a distance
