Stop being a videogame playing virgin
besides framed ink what are some other good books to make good comics? i am considering this since you have on one side guys like Ilya who can paint but lacks storytelling and then you have guys like the One who did one punch and despite his art skill not being really the best he managed to capture the story well
Ilya is a shitter, zero of what he does can be applied to comics and storytelling. Comics are an unfinished artform, you'll never have the time to render like he does if you want to work in comics.
How To Draw Comics the Marvel Way, Understanding Comics and any of Will Eisner's how-to books are a good start.
Then study the masters; Toth, Wood, Buscema, Garcia-Lopez, etc. Or if you want something more modern, absorb absolutely everything Chris Samnee draws. He is the modern Toth.
I find manga's lack of transparency as to what was drawn by the mangaka and what was done by the assistants makes it less viable for study.
How did this bitch get into calarts

This is the dumb bitch who argues trans steve is canon? Who cares.
>>2825974
well now we know what calarts is looking for
Probably by making a portfolio didn't have fan art in it.
What's stopping people from having clients pay them for commissions with credit cards? How would I go about implementing this?
I'm worried of paypal nuking my accounts when they discover what degenerate fetishes I draw.
Enjoy setting up a website and business and then giving 30% of your profit to a payment processor
I don't see why you couldn't use STRIPE or whatever the hell it's called like carnies and convention artists use.

A Thread A Day
Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.
AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (I recommend ShareX)
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new (and cleaner) sticky in town! You can see it at:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uwaXKU7ev6Tw_or__o8ARpUb6r2rCZYJGqwSFV9AD98/edit#bookmark=id.15jx3pyuimvj
>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.
TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

Does anyone have any of the Kyle Brushes for Photoshop they're willing to share?
https://www.kylebrush.com/
I have the concept brushes and I'm willing to upload for anyone that wants to trade.
>>2828759
it's on cgpeers. they were also in one of the mega links in the art book thread some time ago.
Who can tell me please which tools they used to color here and does anyone have tutorials for something similar. Thanks!
Take a look at GDquests stuff, It's the only person I could think of off the top of my head who's work at least somewhat matches this type of style, and that does tutorials. Might not be what you're looking for, but oh well.
He's more focused on the creation of game assets, rather than figures or characters because that's what he does himself, so again that might not be quite what you're looking for, or perhaps it is, since this looks a lot like a mobile game graphic or something similar.
Not only that but he works exclusively in Krita, so if you use a different program that might be a bit of a problem
In any case it's worth a look. Best of luck, sorry if it isn't quite what you wanted

Oh yeah, and if you do end up using or have been using Krita he has some pretty good tools for this type of style on his site, a free pack and a full pack for about $10. I don't know if these tools would work with photoshop, so again sorry if this isn't entirely conducive as to what you'd like.

My friend really wants to become an artist, and I'd love to have him become one. I reluctantly agreed to teach him art, and he had trouble with blind contours, but I then tried to have him move on to gesture drawings of very simple objects. He did so poorly, I had to give him a basic geometry lesson to him. I tried to explain parallel lines, angles, and squares.
He never mastered squares, but I decided to move onto cubes, explaining how they are made. About 1 out of every 7 boxes he drew came out decent. He doesn't understand why his boxes and squares do not come out very good, and I try to point it out to him, and he doesn't fully understand why and what I am pointing out. I believe that once you're able to see your own flaws, you're able to fix them, but he doesn't understand what flaws are.
He tries very hard and wants to be an artist, but This is our 3rd week of basic exercises, as we're getting nowhere. I feel like a shit teacher. Does anyone have any advice? I've also linked him to draw-a-box lesson 1, and it's still a bit too advanced for him. What do I do?
Pic related is the last thing I had him draw last night.
>>2827552
You ever think he might have a mental issue
>>2827552
if he is a minor is fine. of not, he is not gonna make it, don't waste your time and go back to your draws.
Kylie Jenner completely ripped off this artists work for her make up line. This sort of thing pisses me off. Imagine being an artist and having some fucking Kardashian come along and steal all your work, make millions and not even fucking credit you? It would make you not want to make art anymore.
>>2827181
Well they could you know, sue that cunt.
>>2827181
What do you mean, anon? I went to Kylie Jenners Instagram and OP image is there but it's properly tagged back to the original artist.

What are some great screencaps from a film that would look beautiful on canvas?
Zombie 2 has the greatest shots and cinematography I've ever seen in a zombie film.
One more from Zombi 2.
Do the Japanese learn how to draw differently from us? Why is it so easy for them to keep proportions consistent on an empty plane without a frame of reference and so hard for us?
They go with the flow, who gives a shit about these mumble jumble terms. As long as it conveys the message, it's good.

That book was made by an American. My art's shit and I could draw something better than that.

Reminds me a lot of Bouguereau's madonnas, but I'm pretty sure it isn't. Tough to say, pretty generic style

I can't seem to draw simple things well. I have to force excessive shading or something and it ruins my sketches when I'm just trying to do something cartoony. Lately, I've been stippling a lot and it seems to strike a balance between simplicity and depth.
Does anyone have advice or rec's on stippling?
>>2827940
back when I used to draw pointillism was my thing, I have a good pen and ink book that talks about various ways to create the illusion of gradient with ink, it was a big influence.
>>2828288
What was the book?
how do i use this to improve?
