>hmm really makes you think

These paintings are literally one step above political cartoons. They say nothing of value and normalfags still praise them for being ""soo deep" and "real"

If I see one more if these paintings shared on my facebook feed, I'm going to explode.

I actually think they're pretty cool.
Yeah, they're pretentious shit.
Yeah, normies think they're "WOA SOOO DEEP TELL THEM LIKE IT IS!!1", but they are still pretty good for what they attempt to achieve.

Attention to current social norms, for example.

Also, I have no idea of what naming convention is used to describe them.

I thought at first that they are summoning pagan demon in the rape-hut in their occult village in Fireydickwoods.

Examples of artists/creatives with day jobs/who started late
Any modern representational artists? I've mostly seen writers, though I think part of it has to do with the nature of writing. I imagine there's a greater job market for visdev/entertainment design than there is for novelists.

TS Eliot
Pynchon
Faulkner
Steinbeck
Philip Glass
I know there are at least a few guys working in concept design who started in their mid-20s, such as Mullins (although he did study products early on) or Joon Ahn at Riot.

Just looking for some inspo. If anyone can relate or has advice to share I'd love to discuss this.

I'm at a bit of a crossroads, dunno whether to commit to art or to support myself independently and work toward being an illustrator on the dl.

Committing now would mean getting a headstart, avoiding possibly regretting not having started earlier. Avoiding the existential dread of working 9-5 at some dinky unimportant office job, totally unsexy. Downsides are borrowing from the parents, getting less art school finaid, no backup plan - not all that sexy either...

Working would mean financial independence from the parents, comparatively stabler outlook, and the peace of mind to better work creatively. Doesn't necessarily eliminate the possibility of attending art school or atelier either, it'd just be years later. Downsides are a lost sense of identity, though I don't know why I care so much about being an "artist" anyway. It's OK to drift, r-right? Not all those who wander are lost, or something like that.

Note that I'm not interested in being the "best" artist who'd give up anything to improve asap, or has some inhuman work ethic like the kids in Bakuman or anything.

Artgerm, famous for wacom product advertisement, didn't get "good" until his late 30s.

Also you still have at least 6 hours in the day to art even with a 9 to 5; just cut back gaming & anime.

Am I missing something? He seems like a really mediocre artist whose work contains a lot of technical mistakes. Most of his women's faces are samey. His colors are oversaturated to fuck. He doesn't clean up his linework in most of his paintings. He only uses one brush from some reason?

"Rofl, Brunet worked at Blizzard- must be good," not really. Friend of mine works there, says there are lots of assholes who just knew the right people.

Imo, he has a huge following of tasteless amateurs, which is what Cubebrush.co makes money off of. Don't particularly like it when a shit artist teaches other people for money.

So my last post was how close I was to a KJG level. A lot of people seemed to think I was way over my head because I didn't do any finished pieces. Well this time I attached a finished piece, my DA is jpeg96

Anyway, I'm wondering right now If I have finally surpassed sycra. I've been on his forum for a very long time and I look up to him. I especially love the way he draws faces, he sees to convey so much expression.

Now, putting his style aside, on a technical level, do you think my work is superior to sycras?

Dear /IC/ and rest of 4chan internet heroes!
I'm looking for a specific Polish painting that was made in XIX/early XX century.
It pictured some kind of catholic procession (I remember it as either Corpus Cristi or Palm sunday), on the picture You could see many little girls either holding or throwing flowers (and a priest of course since it depicted catholic procession) I believe there was a church also.
I looked through and through, even asked polish forum about it but they weren't able to help
the picture looked quite similiar to these paintings :

What I also remember is that the picture could use more strong colorus , like its colours fade away with time became less and less saturated....
please /IC/ help me out with this I'm looking for weeks for this one picture. Few years ago I did found it, I even noted what was its title and I again forgot it...

Yours,

Dynio

Are you sure it was Polish? It could take time, but here's a list of various Polish painters from that time period. Google each one and skim through the images that way to see it in thumbnail: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:19th-century_Polish_painters

well, I want to understand why 3D looks so "3D", you know ?

is it because the way of how lighting is applied is too "perfect" ?

excuse my english.

>When you realise all drawing is scribbles, some are just more mentally endowed than others :)

I want your scribbles /ic/

this is not a euphemism for anything; literally just open a canvas and scribble; but if you could grid it out follow the following format:

1) open eyed random scribbles
2) closed eye random scribbles
3) holding your breath and only scribbling when you are holding your breath (aka stop drawing when you redraw your breath, hold it again and resume)
4) same as 3 but with your eyes closed
5) Take a previous scribble, from 1-4 and now trace it (like set it to 50% opacity and draw on top of it, or put a new piece of paper on top of it and trace it)
6) take 5 and mirror it along a vertical axis (easy digitally, but if you working traditionally flip your paper over and trace)

That you need to rethink your life.
Real talk, the palm leafs are overly detailed for the rest of the pic. The font is too small(poor choice of color, too) Why is the landscape so featureless? The shading on the rocks is too soft. Same goes for the clouds.
