Is the Reilly method as good as people say? Apparently a lot of artist are using it.
imo it's only really useful for full frontal shots, it starts falling apart as the head turns
it also leads (at least for me) to exaggerated facial structure
it's more valuable as a method to learn the rhythms of the face and how they/the muscles interact with the face when drawing expressions then as an actual method of constructing the head for normal work
also, your question is retarded, you should learn every method, regardless of how good or bad someone says it is or who uses it
if you only learn one thing about one facet of head drawing from it, it's done its job

Fun to watch, also good anatomy from the neck down to his feet.
- I'd change that anime nose, looks hideous.
- Feminine pose for a masculine character. Not appealing.
- Thighs too femenine in relation to his torso.
- Use different local colours, so it stands out more from bg and add local color to every segment like one for hair, one for skin, etc. so we can differentiate his unique aspects from eachother.
- I think the arm holding the gun is a bit too low from his shoulder.
Overall: betterthanme/10, I still like it.
how do you get you brush to look natural and pencily like that?
>>2947592
nice, how long did it take you in real time?
Why isn't getting a reference from pixel art a more popular advice for beginners? It helps to instill a sense of aesthetics while at the same time demanding less from knowledge of proportion, leading to very satisfying work?
Btw, this music video is full of interesting references.

Why is this book so shit
>>2945662
What's shit about it anon?
>>2945662
I believe it feels more stylized. all the samples/demonstrations that book has, illustrates the anatomy in ways that they will never look in real life. well atleast its better than Hogarth lol

>Teaches you how not to draw things.
Ah. That does sound pretty shit.
How would you rate the artwork of Naruto's mangaka? I don't read Naruto but I really like his style. How long would it take to reach his level? Is he very good or just good/okay?

Shit art, shit story, yet still make mad cash
"Passable" (to normies) art, story with stakes (with extra gore and needless tragedy a la Berserk) but most importantly let's not forget:
>being consistent and producing results on a regular basis
Basically you have to just market yourself and hope the public sees you as worthy and unique.

How do I improve my drawing? I need to draw some simple sprites for muh game
>>2947205
The best method is to read the fucking sticky
I think the approach on the left is the most solid.
I'm not sure how much of a programmer you are but I'd suggest having his sprite having everything but the hair, arms and legs. Have those be separate objects that move independently. I could see his hair moving around with physics for each 'ball'.

Shut up fag.
I found this link, it should help immensely.

Does anyone know more hacks to be more creative? I never would've done this had I been completely aware.

So, I've gotten ye ole egotistical itch and decided to reverse search some of my artwork. Lo and behold, some of my pieces have been reblogged on Tumblr, getting hundreds of hearts, likes or whatever they do there.
Meanwhile, I've never gotten more than 20 on anything in my personal Tumblr page, even though those reblogged images have a very clear source to my page. Am I just tagging shit wrong? Should I even care? Have any of you experienced something like that?

Try to make the coolest watermark possible so that even your watermark is renowned :)
There's disadvantages at drawing for being left handed?
>>2946656
I hope not.
The only disadvantage I encountered so far is with calligraphy, and I don't really care much about that.
Stay away from tools with ergonomic grips.
Your parents buying needlessly expensive "left-handed art supplies" and people asking why all your artwork is upside down when opening your ringed art diary.
Hello /ic/
I'm having some trouble with Illustrator and would like your help
How do I "crop" out the redhead woman's hat shape from the grayscale woman's arm?
Here is some context: I just finished a t-shirt art and now my client asked to make a 'stylished' version that would look nice on a small print. (a decorated mug, in this case)
So here it is. Left pic is the t-shirt art, right pic is the progression on the second art.
My problem is: this art has a lot of overlapping pictures and I can't always change the order. How do I "crop" out the redhead woman's hat shape from the grayscale woman's arm?
In Photoshop I could just make a mask and brush some stuff ):
Just some elucidation: the theme is brazilian popular figures, the pictures are forming the geographic shape of brazil
>>2945977
just put her on a higher layer.
If they aren't all on separate layers already then what the fuck are you doing.
>>2946000
in this case I can do it, but in others I WILL need this crop thing
for example, if I wanna make a shadow, some lines must be exactly on the basic shape's lines, so I have to crop out the exceding part
I bought a Intuos 5 Touch from a friend. I've had it for almost a year now and I think I've gotten a hang of it. My Illustration professor said I've been Improving too. I wanna keep going but I don't really know where to go from here. I wanna improve my anatomy and background work. Any suggestions?
>I wanna improve my anatomy and background work
If you want general anatomy, try Loomis (not meming you here) and medical books. There are a shit ton of resources and tutorials on the internet, way more than what you can find on /ic/.
As for backgrounds, you should probably start drawing from life (eg buildings, parks, cafes). You can get a feel for distance, proportion, and perspective that way.
Never heard of loomis, but I do borrow my brothers medical books for body reference. Its translating it digitally that sucks for me. Hand drawing work is fine and the I work on it in photoshop and it goes to hell.
For anatomy I'd recommend Hampton. I fumbled around with Bridgman and Loomis for a while, but I never really understood the way they brok down forms and made little progress. After I spent some time doing figure studies while reading Hampton it was like a lightbulb went off, Figure Drawing Design and Invention is a really useful book.
If you want to do backgrounds, what >>2945418 said is good advice. Wait until you have a decent feel for just how things are supposed to look before you go nose deep into perspective. Try dissecting the backgrounds of photos and drawings you like to gain a better sense of composition, and draw lots and lots of thumbnails to practice composing environments.
Could heinous acts be justified under the guise of art?
Could someone killing themselves ever be considered, and perhaps glorified, as art?
What about cutting off the hands of great painter? Could that be considered somekind of strange paradoxical artistic expression amongst you little tea sippers?

I think the definition of art is broad and vague enough that it could count. After the last century basically if you declare something as art it is considered art. Just because you can technically define something as art though doesn't mean it's good art, and it wouldn't be a legal loophole either to get out of murdering someone.
Kind of a stupid thread and a stupid question.
Can we have one of these?

hallo /ic/,
What's it called when an animation does this weird pulsey thingy?
Is there a program I can use to make my pictures do it too?
Thank you.
>>2947265
No no no, you simply have to draw it that way. it's line boil, just don't draw the lines perfectly each frame.
