hello.do anybody know an exercise that can replace the viewfinder exercise in "drawing on the right side of the brain"? I dont have a viewfinder.
Its literally a fucking piece of paper with a square cut in it. How the fuck do you not have that?
>>2954318
just do it from the sticky
op here.got confused.google result show camera lens.
thank you.
Does anyone have or know where to find these original Craig Mullins painting process videos?
I have tried googling it, but even the reuploads have been taken, which is undestandable since it goes back to 2007.
I would really like to see his early process.

I've seen the tank and bridge ones. Tank one as of a few years ago was still being hosted on some asian equivalent of youtube, possibly in a few parts. The bridge one if I recall correctly is more of a sped up thing with like 10 frames and not very useful. Honestly you're not missing much. They're seriously ancient, I think he recorded them like around 2001 or so. They're entirely unimpressive by today's standards, and are low res. The tank one I think was done with a mouse, and the others may have been as well.
Even as a huge fan of his work I don't find them interesting. If you want to see him paint there are several demos he's done more recently. He did a floating ship over an Ian McQue sketch, he did a demo at THU (I haven't seen it, but I think you can purchase the event and his demo is in there), and he did the Gnomon vid with the snow archer.
Pic related is the tank he paints, and it's pretty basic stuff, he lays in a gradient to start I think then puts in the silhouette of the tank and just very slowly paints the scene. A
>>2954117
oh ok i see, it may be a bit too early. I just liked the idea of him painting before he used the mixer brush and such as he does in the Ian sketch.
But okay, glad to know im not missing out.
>>2954117
Okay I just checked and the tank videos seem to still be on Youku. The site isn't in English but you can still search his name and the videos will show up. I didn't bother testing if it works since I was satisfied seeing the thumbnails there, but I think it makes you wait for a bit before the video starts so have some patience.
Pic very related

If you are a /beg/inner in art, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice. We should not have to make new threads or post in the drawthread with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (I recommend ShareX)
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new (and cleaner) sticky in town! You can see it at:

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

Found it. The artist name is Gabor Szikszai
It's actually an artist Duo http://boros-szikszai.com/ .
Story is as follows.
I started out artfaggotry on phone, with the AutodeskSketchbook app, and their included copic pallete helped quite a bit as inspiration for my first few works I ever was happy with.
Now that I moved to PC, and Paint tool Sai, I'm looking for a color wheel or chart of similiar magnitude. The ones I found are too small, and I don't think they include all the colors that were in the mobile app.
Does anyone have a large color wheel, or a chart with most of the colors?
Thanks in advance.
Coolorus for phostoshop (CC versions?) and painters wheel for older CS releases.
>>2952308
Currently runing sai. If I could just have a sheet of color swatches that I could open and pick colors from it, that'd be awesome.

I've seen multiple people suggesting this artist as an anatomy source for beginners despite the fact that he has wonky anatomy and half the time you can't even understand what's he's drawing.
>>2949975
That's because you suffer from Dunning Kruger Syndrome. 0033 knows more about anatomy and the human figure than you will ever know. You are just not good enough to see skill in anything other than detailed renderings.
>>2949982
Look at his fucking finished shit. I've seen intermediate level artists do better than this.
>You are just not good enough to see skill in anything other than detailed renderings.
>uses simplification as an excuse for wonky anatomy. Is this the 2017 version of muh style?
I'm actually an animator, so I can see the value in simplified drawing, WHEN IT'S DONE RIGHT, this guy is as hack.
>>2949975
> and half the time you can't even understand what's he's drawing.
are you projecting? his drawings are easily readable.
We all have totally normal artist friends that draw porn outside of the public eye for their own reasons. And they share that porn with you or maybe even draw it for you to begin with. How do you deal with the crippling desire to share their masterpieces with the world?
They can trust you, can't they?
>>2948585
>We all have
>>2948588
Some of us, then.
>>2948585
none of my friends art.
So.. I was making some figures for a D&D campaign. and this rex kinda looked stupid, so i went a little crazy with him.
How do you deal with the disinterest zone?
To make certain illustrations sometimes you need to dwell in really boring and tedious subjects. Like, you have to spend hours rendering dull stuff like rocks or paper.
How do you approach this?
Disinterest zone would be like drawing the trademark tumblr style. Why would I ever go that far?
>>2954256
I mean something like a car engine. It's very complex and really boring. But you still have to do it. Sometimes such jobs just happen.
What then? Some suggest trying to put your own personal taste into the image or giving personalities to the subjects, but I just can't feel like doing that.
>>2954262
Step up to the challenge.
Though I suppose that only works if you have a confrontational personality.
I recently decided to get into realistic drawing and I've been using the video tutorial series The Structure of Man: Learn To Draw The Human Figure From Your Mind by Riven Phoenix. I'm enjoying it so far and was looking for other resources I could use to help me improve and this seems like a good place to ask for pointers.
>>2953747
This guys channel has lots of good videos and a great supplement to Phoenix's class:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yz1hdz4kzWU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vk0P7d67CRg
Assuming this is the same guy I wouldn't study his videos
>>2953761
Nor would I study these.
if you intend to learn anatomy proper, look at text books or find artists with teaching merit.
How the fuck do you use this medium? People say it can used like a watercolor, yet it loses much of its opaque properties when you add too much water. How the fuck do you mix this shit properly?
>>2951334
lol
>Mix to the consistency of Elmer's glue
>Don't treat it like watercolor or acrylics. Gouache really is its own thing.
>>2951356
>elmer's glue
I think you mean melted ice cream
It's my birthday /ic/
I graduate art school in a few months too.
