I think these could be called "Narrative Illustrations", but then again most illustrations (arguably all) contains a narrative.

The one you're looking for apparently lay heavily on social commentary, OP.
In portuguese, they're called Charges, in English they are Critical Cartoons, etc.

The problem is, Cartoon is a REAAAALLY inclusive word. Cartoon can mean pretty much anything that is drawn, be it animated, a comic strip, a politcal cartoon, etc. There should be a more specific word for these type of Visual Narratives with focus on social comentary, imo.
If there is one, i'm unaware of.
