I'm gonna make a MUD game but with more modern devices. It will not use telnet, it will be usable in the browser. It will also be written in a modern language.
I'm looking for people who want to make this with me, whether it be to contribute code or stories or just suggestions.
I'm also wondering what platform /g/ would choose to do this in. I'm thinking not much in the way of a framework is needed, just a basic http stack that allows user input. I'm thinking I'll either right this in python, rust, or C#. Any ideas or suggestions welcome.

Jesus christ, kill me.
>right
I meant write. You'll have to excuse me, I'm very tired.
I'd like to join in on this. Will there be a central "location" for us to meet and chat about this or will it be done over irc or something? I can contribute in the way of code, maybe sketches/drawings, regular game design elements, story bits or plot lines. I have always wanted to do something like this but none of my friends are nerds the way I am. They will play dnd, not make their own game, though.
One question, though. Since it's going to be a mud, meaning all text and maybe some glyphs, why not just use C? It'll be quick, handle character streams very well ( I can help with this code, btw ) and since it's a mostly text based deal will not require the shortcomings of C to collide with efficiency requirements. Also, the code will be fairly barebone and simple considering it's just a regular game and not some 3d hypershaded marketplace steam derivative of the hyperloop.
I'll be monitoring this thread.

If it is going to be usable in a browser, would it not make sense to do it with JS? Simplest way to start, no?
Aether is a peer to peer communication protocal (+ client). Wonderful. Unfortunately, Aether's development appears to have stalled in a non-functional state.
Any alternatives (other than Usenet).

Have you tried zeronet?

I don't know if you were here two or so years ago but To was shilled here quite often back then. I don't know what happened to it then now. I just recall people were butthurt with the licence change to LGPL

Why is Intel CPU so much faster then AMD even the low end i3 outperform the higher end FXseries.
Amd puts more money into their GPU lines but they do not have nearly as much money as Intel or NVIDIA
>>55859535
Why is intel's perf/price so shit tho?
Thanks for your post, Intel employee. You may now leave while we laugh at your obviously wrong post.
What valid reason for using Windows is there besides video games?
Professional programs like CAD/CAM software, video/photo editing, various music programs.
>>55859456
>CAD/CAM software
Siemens makes CAD and CAM software that is avaliable on linux, which is used by Mercedes, so this arguement is invalid.
What valid reason for using Linux is there besides acute autism?
You guys always talk about assembling PCs.
But can you build at least an 8bit computer from scratch?
>>55859387
shit balls
>>55859387
Where the fuck am I supposed to find the parts for an 8 bit computer?
>>55859387
How am I supposed to build a transistor from scratch?
How safe is Kodi for streaming movies/tv shows?
I setup a Kodi box for my mom and shes likely to use it often, so can I expect an email from the MPAA or some other organization at some point?
>>55859363
No more safe than torrents, I'd imagine.
Since that's basically what it uses.
>>55859363
My father has been using the genesis tv addon, or whatever the latest one is, for half a year now and not a single letter so I wouldn't worry
chances are you'd only get caught through p2p so just don't do anything with torrents on it
>>55859363
My uncle has been selling Amazon fire TV sticks with kodi for about 6 months I'd say and no letters or shit he says
About to buy this monitor.
Any reason why i shouldn't?
Main use is for browsing web, console gaming and graphic design.

fuck off applecucks. your race of faggots were the first to embrace this botnet bulllshit.
Windows went forever as an untainted OS, now we have to suck the botnet dick because applefags love that big dildo up their ass and never complained.

People still use public trackers?
3 hours. It's been over 3 hours and they're still going, working at trying to disassemble and reassemble a standard, office PC
I took this vocational course because I thought I wasn't ready for university but these people are failing at what is essentially a children's block-in-the-hole game
6 more months of listening to them spouting reddit and 4chan memes in class
I wish I could do something like that to get a degree
>>55859148
IT is for complete retards. Sounds elitists since billions of normies don't know how to assemble PC and install drivers but for everybody else IT is a brain dead job with lowest paycheck.
>>55859148
Wow, and I thought I was bad
Why is 10 gigabit networking still so expensive? Normally technology filters down from the enterprise level to the consumer level and the only consumer stuff becomes totally obsolete yet gigabit ethernet has been the consumer level standard for over a decade.
there is no reason for consumers to use 10gbit
>>55859122
Why do you need more than 100mbps?
The network has no reason to go faster than a SATA3 HDD can. Until workstations start using SAS HDDs, 1GB speeds are plenty.
How can people just accept that something is broken without trying to fix or find out what is wrong?
>why is it so cold in here
oh, the heaters not working
>why dont you have your laptop
that thing? nah its broken
>why do you use the buttons on the TV
remotes fucked
>why is the country turning to shit, unemployment rising and economy crashing
government is broken
a screwdriver, some duct tape and a bit of knowhow can go a long way
Whatever
Whatever
>>55859059
Unlike you my time isn't free, you gross NEET shitstain. I'd rather be earning money or enjoying my free time than spend hours trying to fix whatever disposal-by-design piece of consumer electronics died instead of just replacing it.
