Siemens makes CAD and CAM software that is avaliable on linux, which is used by Mercedes, so this arguement is invalid.

Windows has a better UI than linux (objectively speaking)

Linux just steal ideas from Windows and Apple UI. Basically unoriginal and not forward-thinking. I believe some of them have Win98 philosophy which is pathetic in this age.

So in essence: Windows has more risk-taking UI, better support and more options.

You can use Wine for that you know (the only major problems I know about Wine is that it doesn't support beyond DX9).
>>
>besides video games
Oh dear, it's such a tragedy you can't play your shitty new pseduo-game movies on GNU.

If a game isn't available on GNU, there's a very good chance that it's shit anyway, and if it's one of the very few that is good but not on GNU, there's a good chance wine runs it flawlessly. And any left over, who really gives a flying fuck?

There's no reasons left to run Windows. None.
>>
>>55859617
WINE does not play nice with CAD/CAM software.
>>

For me it's an Equalizer APO equivalent, and yeah video games too.

Linux is used heavily for backend stuff you do not see like servers and such
Android is also Linux based
Windows is just popular because lots of people grew up with it, it comes with every new computer that is not a Mac, and because nearly every piece of software is made really only for windows.
Mac is for normies who don't like or know how to use PCs and artists/musicians.

I actually literally tried to install a linux distro today and it didn't work, it is NOT easy

and it is not because I didn't use google or research my problems, it is legitimately hard for people who aren't computer people or something, let me tell you what happened

first of all I installed the network installation to my flash drive and plugged it in and my computer couldn't find it

so I did some research and learned some computers block USB from the bios, also some newer computers have something called UEFI which doesn't accept USB boots or something

so I went into bios settings and no, my computer accepted USB fine, I moved it up to highest boot priority

but it still didn't work, so I checked if the checksum was right, if the formatting of the drive was right, it still only found HDD and ethernet(wtf? boot from ethernet?)

so it turned out some ports aren't bootable apparently, I finally figured out how to even open up linux but it still wouldn't install because it can't find the repo

after going through the settings I put in the wifi info to install and I kept on getting a "DHCP Configuration Failed", what does that mean? i put in the internet right, but even if I selected no auto DHCP it says "repository not found"

so I had to do it manually, inside, I followed the instructions and it asked me a bunch of shit like IP address with network prefix, Gateway IP address, Name Server IP Address, these are NOT things layman know about

and still after figuring out what those things mean and putting them in gave me a "repository not found"

so I did some research and found this
http://hnng.moe/BgR
apparently if you don't install it right on the drive it won't work? there is no slow USB speed, I think my problem may be my flash drive (2 gb) is too small/corrupt or something

and I STILL didn't install it. Installing linux may be easy on your computer but it's not working on mine. I will try later

JACK/JACK2 allows MIDI with very low latency. My Scarlett interface "just werked" with no driver installation needed on archlinux. ALSA immediately recognized it and had no problem playing audio through it. Installing JACK/JACK2 allowed me to pipe the XLR inputs directly to any program that takes an audio-in, like audacity or any VST manager or sequencer like LMMS. It has been a few years since I have mucked around with that software, but Linux-compatible pro-audio tools work fine if you aren't an idiot. Yeah, somtimes specific VSTs don't have a linux port, but most of the time the work fine with wine.

As far as the software crashing (during a live performance or whatever)- This has only ever happened to me with windoze VSTs that don't play nice with wine.

>Why does no Linux user every recognize this fact?
because it's a false claim

>you have to look sometimes for a shitton of commands to make simple things
No one buys this if you're talking about consumer oriented distros like ubuntu.

>And you can't even guess those.
You don't have to guess, there's manuals, it's not an obscure thing even if you try to imply that.

>you have to look them up on forums and copypaste
Do you prefer to follow long tutorials with a lot of screenshots or videos with a guy writing in notepad?

Hot opinions dude and nice attempt at pulling an argument from authority fallacy.

As a windows certified engineer i can tell you that the windows driver subsystem is a mess that no one should be using:

Linux is an operating-system. Why? Because Linus said so.

I like being able to print in a constant basis from my wireless printer. Bluetooth not crashing after I connect my device would also be a plus.

If windows had a proper package manager and microsoft weren't a terrible company i would probably consider to use windows.

Linux is an operating system. But it likely isn't the operating system people refer to when they mention "Linux". Those people are likely referring to GNU/Linux.

>GNU/Linux
Don't you mean X/GNU/Linux? Or as Stallman took to calling it at one point, LiGNUX. Even then, the divide is somewhat arbitrary. Where does this name end? SystemD/X/GNU/Linux? Do we just keep slashing until the name is a wall of text?
>>
>>55869449
No, just GNU/Linux as those components are just subsystems of the GNU framework.

>X and SystemD are subsystems of the GNU framework
You heard it here first folks!
