What's the natural way to encode "state" in Python?
For some months now, I'm coding an interface for a large array of laboratory instruments, and all the settings during fun time are stored in a dict of dicts. The GUI mostly just manipulates the list.
This developed naturally from using json to save the current state/settings, but I wonder how common this approach is?

I run Windows 7, and for years I've never felt the need to have an antivirus software on my computer because I don't do a lot of sketchy browsing and my firewall is always on.
But for somebody who feels they HAVE to have antivirus, what is the absolute best one to have for Windows 7? Most dependable and especially the most lightweight?

I'm using AVG and I'm getting more false positives than any actual viruses.
Also, it asks for a PC restart at least once every two days, if not more often.
