Hey /g/
Retard here, sorry, but I'm looking for a new laptop and I wondered if you might be able to help me out.
Are these any good?

Only difference I can see is 2.5 vs 3.1 GHz processor. Am I missing anything?
Or is there anything else you could recommend?
I'm looking to spend at the very most £700. Don't need it to be too powerful, just need to be able to play HD movies to my TV well, some photoshop usage for translating comics, some gaming, but nothing too serious, I don't play the most graphically intensive games, mainly strategy and lolsoquirky indieshit. I don't need it to be especially portable, my previous laptop was 17 inches so I wouldn't mind something that size.
How is this?

Are MSI shit? Lower clock speed but more RAM and slightly better graphics card, worth it or not?
As a general rule, if you don't know what the specs mean, ignore them.
Higher clock speed =/= More performance.
Look up reviews for all these laptops and compare their individual components and you'll see what's better

So what should I be looking for in these individual components?

Performance.
Find out what the processor(cpu) in each of these laptops then find a comparison site and see what has better performance.
Then do the same for the Graphics card.

Thanks, so it looks like the MSI has a better processor and better graphics card. Just 2 last questions, how are MSI laptops in general, are they pieces of shit that will fall apart easily? Also, it says the RAM is SO-DIMM, I looked it up and I understand it means they're smaller but is there any practical difference? All else being equal, would a machine with 12GB DDR4 SO-DIMM outperform one with 8GB regular DDR4?

As for the quality of MSI laptops, I have no idea. But I know their GPUs are good.
As for the ram, 12gb is better but if you're not using that much ram there will be no performance difference
