Why do freefags use the internet?
>>56948983
Gay people are free because marriage is type relationship only between man and woman. They use internet to advertise aids, windows and opera browser.
>>56949023
There's nothing wrong with Opera.
I love that game
I hate Facebook, I hate Twitter, I hate Snapchat, etc. (because of the ads, cookies, and shit) I hate Skype too. That program works like shit.
Which is the best way to keep online with online friends if you hate that?
Telegram that nobody uses?
Any other tool?
Or should I just have my own website and send emails?
SMS/MMS, phone calls, email, iMessage and FaceTime (if they're Apple users).
Facebook Lite and WhatsApp
Phone calls. Irl visiting
Where are the good phones? Where are the landscape keyboards?
no more on screen keyboards without tactile feedback. no more losing screen real estate so some could cheap out on parts.
Post glorious physical keyboards.

A particularly unique design.
Would quantum computing be the end of humanity?
>>56948750
Tell us the reasons you think why or why not?
>>56948757
If it would be invented it would be incredibly expensive I presume. So only governments or really big companies would be able to use it. What does the government use computers for? For spying on it's people "to spot terrorists". All current encryption methods would be useless since they would be able to break them in no-time.
The day that quantum computing is introduced is the day that they can really see __everything__ we do.
>>56948866
>The day that quantum computing is introduced is the day that they can really see __everything__ we do.
It's not that I have anything to hide, it's just the principle of invading someone's privacy that I really don't like. What if government computing falls into the wrong hands?
Why are Linux desktops like gnome and unity touch screen optimised?
Touch screens haven't taken off and those netbooks with touch screens usually have really hackery buggy Linux support. Why don't they resign their UI to be more PC optimised?
pcs can have touch screens.
and it has usefull applications with a decent swivel mount.

this is why you don't use gnome 3 or unishit. use KDE or cinnamon.
I'm looking to buy a pair of speakers for the purpose of listening to music.
What type of speakers should I be looking for? Active ones?
Also, my budget is like 500€. Yes, that's not a lot, but I'd still be thankful for some recommendations.

Hilarious. I bet you're the class clown.
If your room is decently big and it's treated, the best speakers are Yamaha HS8.
If your room isn't decently big and it osn't treated, don't even buy speakers. For half of your budget you can get excellent open heapdhones.
sup /g/.
I just recently switched to Linux Mint and I absolutely love it, however the one program that I didn't expect any trouble with was VLC.
It's always been my favorite video player, but after installing it, it seems like the video codec is totally fucked (which is strange because I've always known VLC to be notoriously reliable when it comes to codecs).
Uploaded a webm showing the difference between the default Video player and VLC. Any advice is greatly appreciated. If I really have to, I'll just use the default video player and uninstall VLC, but I'd really rather not if it's a simple fix.
>>56948559
update: switched to X11 video output and disabled accelerated video output, still the same issue.
I PM'd you the fix ;)

How much of a hassle is it to encrypt your files in 2016? Do you always have to decrypt everything before being able to read it?
If I upload an encrypted video file to cloud drive, is it possible to stream it to my devices? Is there a video player that support decryption like that or I have to download the file to local drive, decrypt before being able to view it?

veracrypt is so easy to use
basically hoe the easiest method works is like this
>Decide how large you want your "folder"(container) to be, and create password for it
>it creates a file
>open veracrypt and mount the file (a bit like a usb) using password
>put shit in and when youre done, unmount
>file is now secured and everything inside it
honestly it is so easy to do, however you cant stream stuff this way.
keep in mind this is one method encryption, and is also a (better) fork of truecrypt which was recommended by snowden until devs left
Aren't older programmers easily replaced by fresh college grads that know the newest languages and frameworks?
Since the IT sector is and will be full of H1B1 that replace American workers, and IT is looked down upon as a cost,
Why even work in tech at all?
Yes. Basically if you don't find a specific niche and you get fired the age of 40+, you're fucked.
>>56948284
What are some examples of this "specific niche"
Security Expert?
Artificial Intelligence Researcher?
>>56948280
>Aren't older programmers easily replaced by fresh college grads that know the newest languages and frameworks?
They may know the names of the latest languages and frameworks, but they are not programmers. Many of them are simple copy/pasters who rely fully on stackoverflow.
Post your rigs, what you listen to. Bonus points if you are in America and can recommend a station.
I've operated pic related in Hawaii, Maryland, and Texas. Not a whole lot going on. Lots of Radio Marti and unintelligible Chinese stations.
Bumping because I like these threads. Got nothing to post because I just use a direct sampling modded RTLSDR with a random wire to listen. Not really happy with it since the noise floor is way too high. It did fall from a height two times, though so maybe something got detached inside? Still, wish I had a money for a proper HF transceiver and a place to easly string a dipole on. Southern Europe here, usually can hear up to India and not much more. UZB-76 can be barely heard only at night.
>>56948274
My ol' trusty radio can tune in SW real fine although most stations are chinese so its of no use to me. Living near china so it makes sense I guess.
