Any medium/shortwave listeners here?

Bumping because I like these threads. Got nothing to post because I just use a direct sampling modded RTLSDR with a random wire to listen. Not really happy with it since the noise floor is way too high. It did fall from a height two times, though so maybe something got detached inside? Still, wish I had a money for a proper HF transceiver and a place to easly string a dipole on. Southern Europe here, usually can hear up to India and not much more. UZB-76 can be barely heard only at night.

Thinking about getting a handset to jack adapter so I can control it via soundcard and become a radiohobo.

don't have any shortwave at the minute but I was considering getting an upconverter to give range from a few khz to a few ghz

I'd love some nice radio gear but it's very pricey and the best thing I have is a hand-held baofeng

Extra-class hamfag here. Yeasu 857 in the shack and car. Meaning to look into SDR stuff, but too busy with other stuff.

20/40 meters, mostly. 80 requires a larger antenna than I can really get away with.

I have some SW radios, mainly for when I am in the field, to kill time, but house is near a militairy base.
So, most of the frequenties are being jammed.

Anyone has more info about it and/or has a simular issue?

Is the base transmitting on many frequencies or just one that overloads your receiver and makes everything else silent?
