i'm sick of ask this material design bullshit that takes up unnecessary screen space
how would i go about making the top bar smaller?
preferably if someone has a way to make the bar shrink down on all apps with this awful design that would be a godsend
also, how would i change the color?

Then

It all makes sense now.
>>56948071
The only trustworthy fan spec is the RPM which you can verify yourself. Every other number is made up, and there is no standardized test for static pressure, CFM or decibels.

Nobody wants noisy pc fans. Noctua do a good range, they are very quiet
Fan thread? Why does pic make the noise of 1000 angry misquitos? Taken from a stock 95 "silent" am2 heatsink

do you have to prep them?
Hey /g/
Has anyone here soldered a new 3.5m jack onto a pair of headphones? My jack broke and I'm hoping to repair them. I cut the cables and they don't quite look like the guides I've seen online. They have this white fluff, might be fibre apparently, but I'm not sure if the colors are the enamel I'm meant to burn off. Any ideas?
>>56948049
Jack plug? Buy a new jack. I know it's daunting doing it for the first time. Just do it. Buy a cheap soldering iron and solder and do it.
>Any ideas?
Google and Youtube. How the fuck do I know? I'm lazy too. You solder it on and it works. If it doesn't try again. Test it with your mp3 player or phone.
>>56948049
Burn the colors.
I used to make my own earphone cables all the time. I generally solder some MMCX connectors onto each earphone and then buy an aftermarket cable on Ebay each time a cable breaks.
Simples.
Studying at university, bought a laptop (Thinkpad L), never had one before really. I got a neoprene sleeve for it but was worried about it surviving in my backpack with all my books and junk.
All the laptop backpacks I've seen while shopping have been either horrible looking ("Hi I'm a blatant Laptop bag please rob me!") or really expensive or very small (Sometimes I have to carry a lot of stuff.). Is a thickly padded special separate compartment a good idea? Or would it survive in a sleeve in a regular backpack, a couple that caught my eye have separate compartments but aren't padded.

You should continue learning Java instead of dropping it for another language.
HTML, CSS and Javascript is NOT programming.

These announced rollup updates for windows 7 and 8.1 worry me.
As far as I've read the first cumulative updates will not remove the current pick-and-choose system for already existing patches, but in time they will disable it and you'll only have the option of cumulative updates (and if you install any cumulative patch the telemetry gets installed aswell).
How should I go about creating a comfy option to get 8.1 with security updates on new computers with no telemetry?
>Clean install 8.1, get all the essential KBs, disable updates, and then image that disk? (Never used imaging before so would that even work for any future hardware build?)
>Use http://www.wsusoffline.net/ to create a custom offline patch?
>Just keep installing cumulative updates and then clobbering any telemetry executables/libraries/services? I don't know if this is feasible at all.
Are there any other options?
>inb4 just use Windows 10/telemetry is your friend/gentoo etc.
At all the lengths winfags will defend using an OS with no updates, my question is why? If you have to do all the special crap just to be self to run .exe's at a subpar level, is t that the same as doing it with wine?
>>56947745
You see, some people actually develop software.
Those people often want to make sure that software will work on all target platforms.
This means they need to test on those platforms.
Wine is not one of those platforms.
I am aware MS offers images of older OSes free of charge for testing purposes but that does not fit my needs.
The neets are always the loudest aren't they...
>>56947595
Just a Linux neet reporting: wusus should do it. But if you only have a professional use for windows, it will suffice to disable the telemetry in the vanilla settings.
Your post reeks of bait, but will bite.
