How? Last time /g/ held a strawpoll, I'm pretty sure Arch won by a long shot, followed by Ubuntu.
I am concerned about possible malware or spyware installed on computers sold on eBay and Amazon. Do you think this is safe? http://www.ebay.com/itm/42434WU-ThinkPad-T520-i5-2520M-8GB-RAM-500GB-HD-15-6-1366x768-Win-7-Pro64-/172295766897?hash=item281da0c371:g:Tu4AAOSwPYZU8zS~
Bump. I need help.

I will download a distro of Linux. I just want advice on how to safely buy an old Thinkpad, please.
>To be a CS major, you also have to minor in math.
>Thinking that's hard
Consider a different line of work, my boy.
If you're a cs major and you don't enjoy math, you're no better than a Pahjeet
Math is okay but math classes just become busy work once it becomes conceptual and not actually learning how to do things anymore
Pretty much everything after Calc 1
do VPNs even matter?
correlation attacks are a bitch
>>57255044
Yes. The point of a vpn is to ensure that you're not found. Correlation attacks only work if you have a suspect and are monitoring their traffic. Even then, just leave the VPN on all the time. How can they tell apart logging in to @fbiarelosers and browsing 4chan?
For torrenting, yes. For browsing the interwebz, maybe. Web browsers nowadays leak so much information you can build a fingerprint and track someone across multiple IPs but as long as you don't enable JavaScript there is very little information that can be gained (e.g. HTTP headers) and it's fairly easy to spoof.

You can program on any OS that has a basic text editor.
I use Ubuntu with nano.
because they want to develop for the iOS ecosystem where you get more money for your apps

Is ramsonware literally pay or get fucked? Or is there hope if you get this tipe of shit?
Pic unrelated
A lot of ransomware is very poorly implemented. For example some versions reuse the same key. So it really depends on what you caught.
But a proper one will fuck you over. In fact, some poor implementations cant even decrypt or fuck up files trying to decrypt them.
>>57254935
if you're hit by something brand new, the former.
if you're hit by something that's been out for some time, there may be some decrypt tools available.

But luckily you still have your unconnected external backup and your offsite backup.

What is even the point of running linux in a virtual machine? Why do people do it?
tfw to intelligent; to run linnux in a vm
what is even the point of running linux?
>>57254889
To try it out for the first time before actually installing it or you're doing this for server purposes.
Hey, NERDS
How do I continue to push this FUCKING BEAST to the MAX?!?!?

Are ultrawides just memes?
looks nice to me
>>57254836
Depends, they're kinda limited by size, get into the larger sets and it's a bit too wide, and finding a good one is much harder than 169.
>>57254836
I have a U3415W and just one of those alone cost me more than most people on /g/'s entire setups.
Ownership of an ultrawide is a privilege only a select few have. I will soon be privileged enough to own a second U3415W--or I may even hold out and wait for LG's new 38 inch ultrawide.
Post unintentional glitch art. Just woke my computer from suspend, saw this, and took a screengrab. Interesting how there's elements in there that I looked at a while ago.

Here we are going to make Brainfuck better.
The name would be Brainfuck++++ and [somebody draw the logo].
Let's not make it to look like C, Haskell, or Lisp, but let's make it a bit more readable but still Brainfuck.
We propose what would we want to implement.
And yes, Brainfuck++++ compiler should be compatible with Brainfuck code, so []+-.,>< are reserved.
The first thing - operation multiplying, let's write 4+ instead of ++++. Multiplying should work with +, -, <, >.
So, we have Hello world program.
Original Brainfuck:++++++++
[>++++
[>++>+++>+++>+<<<<-]
>+>+>->>+[<]
<-]
>>.>---.+++++++..+++.>>.<-.<.+++.------.--------.>>+.>++.
Brainfuck++++8+[>4+[>++>3+>3+>+4<-]>+>+>->>+[<]<-]>>.>3-.7+..3+.>>.<-.<.3+.6-.8-.>>+.>++.
Let's have fun!
>>57254708
Lets have MFC support and call it Microsoft Visual Brainfuck
Nah I'm too lazy.
The only thing that would make brainfuck more bearable is functions. That way, you can sorta nest programs on top of each other
There's no good way to do it with current functionality other than to have a program pre compile everything. Functions would allow basic "x*y" operations , and maybe we could even simulate object oriented programming
Since Brainfuck operators are one-character originally, I think it would be better to do the same with operator multiplier - set values from 1 to 9 or 1 to F.
>>57254846
I think it would be better to make some B4 virtual machine.
Let's say, cells before 0 (BF programs start at 0 cell) would be some system parameters.
>>57254848
How about that:
S operator tells B4 to run the program from the cell, which number is stored in the current cell. After jumping to that cell, if runs program by taking values from cells, each command per cell.
The stop value is 0.
Will a usb solar charger work overnight?

No. That's why you also need to buy a lunar charger.
So,arch breaked again for no reason.And I experienced two random system freezes this week.I used to think that arch was the best distro but I was wrong.So a friend of mine suggested opensuse.Is it good?What are the differences with arch?
>>57254515
Haven't used openSUSE yet but it's hard to go wrong with Debian or Ubuntu GNOME

If you're going down the trashcan you might as well get the best of the trash Linux distros and get debian. Or you could go full retarded and just get fedora.
