Hmm..
The CTRL and Functions key are inverted on the thinkpads, do you like this layout? Do you tweak them on linux to invert them?
I don't know i don't use the Fn key that much and being on the bottom left is such handy for the CTRL key which is part of so much combinations.
>>57251686
it's easier for your pinky to reach without having to change your hand position since it's directly in line with A where your pinky rests
>>57251686
you tweak them in the BIOS
Because Lenovo aren't complete idiots
can`t keyboard just be like this?

Who csh here?
>>57252078
I used to use tcsh, switched to ksh a few years ago
>>57252107
I mostly use pdksh now, myself. I'm interested in learning more about csh though.
Is IRC dead or alive?
Both
dead
Past its peak but not dead

jesus christ, winbabies.
A good CCTV DVR?
I can only get my hands on chinkshit saxxom and Dahua.
I need something capable of managing at least 720p/30fps in 8 channels.
And NVR is just way too much for my current tier (poorfag).
Any Security-Fag around here?
>>57251221
>Any Security-Fag around here?
Yes.
99.9% of DVRs are Chinkshit, because analog cameras are poor-fag tier. NVR has taken over the higher end market, or people get Rackmount Servers with Analog encoders.
Get a Vitek/Dahua/Similar. They're all the same shit. Set record on motion/alarm only to save DVR processing power so you can get full 30fps recordings.
Also, you can get NVR software for free, and even dedicated NVR devices can be had for as little as $55 or less.
http://www.dx.com/p/escam-k508-mini-8ch-nvr-1080p-onvif-2-0mp-network-video-recorder-449413#.WBEAMvkrIUE
Toss in an old laptop HDD or buy a new 500gb drive for $50 and enjoy.
ONVIF compatible cameras aren't expensive at all. A little over $30 a camera for small 1mp bullets.
Analog Cameras are either poverty tier at $10/pop or special-usecase tier these days. Like if you need a certain priced camera with built-in IR floods, with specific dimension requirements. Or if you really love wasting money or paying some idiotic pelco contractor 6x the cost you should to do your security cams.

So my girlfriend got me a cuckphone 6S, and I mean I willingly excepted it because I didn't really have a choice as my previous phone is garbage
I am very grateful and everything but during a particularly heated argument about my loyalty to her I made the regrettable decision of indefinitely sharing my location with her (I am the first and only person she has ever been with so she gets paranoid about it)
While she is beautiful and thick I have other women in mind that I'm trying to see but I can't really be without my phone what I mainly wondering is if there is a jailbreak plug in that allows me to spoof my location to someone over find iPhone or find my friends so when I go to over to this girl's house to fuck it doesn't look suspicious to my girlfriend
A pretty sickening request for a pretty sickening place I guess
Accepting*
Fuck this cuckphone and its shitty dictation
>>57251207
Be a man and draw the line, that kind of insecurity will suck your life and nothing good will come from it.
Or just pretend that the phone was stolen, but before doing that remove the icloud account from the settings, problem solved.
If you jailbreak it, you'll definitely find something very easily

Torrenting shouldn't be your hobby, the things you download should be
>>57251400
Who's to say what is and isn't a valid hobby? I enjoy the archivist aspect of torrenting and collecting media that I enjoy. How is this so hard to understand? I don't know how I can be much more clear about this but I'll reiterate it anyway: I only download things that fit into one of two categories:
1) Things I intend to watch/read/play/listen to in order to see if I like them.
2) Things that I have already watched/read/played/listened to and know that I like so that I can archive them to return to as and when I please.
I don't have to know with certainty that I will return to consume something again in order to download it, I merely archive in order to retain that option. Saying 'it'll be there to download when you need it' isn't an option because with the nature of torrenting that simply isn't a guarantee.
What are the chances that will be able to run mac os without any hardware incompatibilities?
Very slim.
Could be possible to do if you have a programmer who can create the drivers needed to run the Mac OS on the surface hardware, but will likely have to keep having new drivers made when Apple do software updates (not upgrade) for their OS.
That said this would not be worth it and would be expensive.
Would be cheaper to do your research and make a standard Hackintosh (usually uses Gigabyte motherboards) that is specialised for a hardware intensive task which only works with or works better with Mac OS.
>>57251238
>this would not be worth it
It might be if apple continues to ignore the pro market and never offers a competing product. A 27" touch screen cintiq is $2800 by itself and has a much shittier display.
How would a weaponized quadcopter be efficient weight-wise?
I was thinking using poisoned needles or flechettes, since carrying a reasonable amount of lead slugs isn't viable. Has this issue been explored extensively?
>grow deadly bacteria or virus
>put on quadcopter
>make it slowly release the bacteria
>fly quadcopter over new york city
Put laser designator and thermal camera on the quadcoptor
Put the laser-guided weapons on something big enough to carry and launch them.
>>57251688
Chemical weapons are more efficient.
So, today I decided to fuck my PC up.
>rubbed the motherboard with moist cloth (water and tea) whilst turning the PC on and off
>placed my strongest magnets all around RAM, GPU, CPU and motherboard
>stretched a pin, trying to fry my GPU
>a spark flew out
>PC rebooted and everything was fine
Why is it so god damn durable and why do faggots constantly fear of fucking something up on their first build? It's nigh impossible if you don't *try* to break it.
pic unrelated

>In terms of energy conservation, the leaps made in energy efficiency by the infrastructure and devices we use to access the internet have allowed many online activities to be viewed as more sustainable than offline.
>On the internet, however, advances in energy efficiency have a reverse effect: as the network becomes more energy efficient, its total energy use increases. This trend can only be stopped when we limit the demand for digital communication.
>Although it's a strategy that we apply elsewhere, for instance, by encouraging people to eat less meat, or to lower the thermostat of the heating system, limiting demand is controversial when applied to the internet, in part because few people make the connection between data and energy.

What's /g/'s opinions on the massive power draw of the modern high-speed large-file internet, including 3G and 4G?
>The increasing energy consumption of the internet is not so much due to a growing amount of people using the network, as one would assume. Rather, it's caused by a growing energy consumption per internet user.
>The network's data traffic rises much faster than the number of internet users (45% versus 6-7% annually).
>There's two main reasons for this. The first is the evolution towards portable computing devices and wireless internet access. The second is the increasing bit rate of the accessed content, mainly caused by the digitalization of TV and the popularity of video streaming.
In other words, fucking normies, phoneposters and gaymers.
>>57251051
I doubt mailing DVDs around was more efficient than streaming
>>57251051
Greens never have any solution other than reducing everyone's standard of living.
Right now in Washington state environmental groups are campaigning against a carbon tax. Yep, they're fighting a ballot initiative to tax CO2 emissions. Why? Because it's revenue-neutral, the proceeds will be used to cut sales and business taxes. They don't like this and want the tax to be added on top of existing ones.
