would any one help explain to me why peripherals such as the logitech g13 and similar additional keypad devices can not be programmed as standalone unique keystrokes and have to be bound to a pre-existing key from the keyboard or macro involving those standard keys?

No. You seem pretty stupid and it's a rather layered, albeit simple issue.

What about my question makes me seem stupid? If I knew the answer I wouldn't post on a technology board about it. It's layered but simple doesn't that just mean you don't feel like answering it? So you use a simple question, with an admittedly simply answer, as an excuse to be not only lazy but an asshole. You're not coming out looking so good here. You were better off just not posting.
>>
>>57256178
You are the stupid, it's not an issue at all.

>>57256232
If you can write a driver for it, you can make it happen. There are some snags, like I don't know if Xorg or whatever the fuck Windows uses allow custom keycodes. When I did this, it skipped the HID system entirely and just ran commands.

Post your component list, rate other anons', ask questions in general.

Always state the purpose of your PC, your budget, AND YOUR COUNTRY if outside the USA.
If you are asking for improvements, clarify whether you want to lower price, or improve specs or build quality.

I have a X240 and Lenovo did indeed fuck up the trackpad in the 40 generation ThinkPads. It's massively improved in the 50 series, so time to upgrade.

Why does /g/ hate prebuilt PCs?

>>
>>57255564
They used to be over priced trashed and it became a meme to hate them ever since. You can get some pretty good prebuilts now though if you know what you're looking for.
>>
>>57255564
Generally slightly more expensive than building it yourself.

They also cut corners by using cheaper components.

Not fully customizable.

Business PCs have TPM botnet.

You can't without removing the illusion of whatever ecosystem being "developer friendy," but if you're really committed, I guess you could always increase the price of entry past $100

That doesn't do anything about the companies dedicated to producing only shovelware, just individual developers

There's also the option of requiring every developer to submit a list of "feature points" and refuse to release any but the first with that exact feature set

>>57255512
As long as Google/Apple are making money off these shitty apps, they'll keep letting them on the store.

You know how in Windows you can post images/files on 4chan without having to save them to your computer first by uses the image address instead? So how do I do that in Ubuntu 16.04? Or is it impossible? There's no search bar.

If I've learned anything from Marxism is that entertainment really catches the minds of the people. Maybe eventually, but I want something that's going to have a practical use when it's done.
