Apple needs an indian CEO in order to get good once again, Steve Jobs got enlightened in his journey to India for good reason. It's the sort of ethic that changes companies for the best.
What's your drive setup look like /g/? Servers, internals, anything
256gb SSD in Laptop, 128GB flash drive that I carry around with me all the time with tons of stuff on it, 700GB external for movies that I watch on the go,4TB that I transfer between home and torrent box, onn desktop 256GB SSD, 1TB WD blue, 1 2TB drive on the way. I ultimately want 10TB, but I'm scared of Raid.
my computer is my server. <100W idle so nothing to worry about.
>>57249813
Oh yeah, and about 10 2GB flash drives that I have distros and shit on
Do you think Apple will outperform microsoft october event?
>>57249763
>Oh look, an a tiny screen instead of function buttons.
Microsoft is so far ahead in the game I can't even believe this has happened.
I really miss the Apple that released new shit. Apple can't even catch up with touch based operating systems that aren't iOS. Microsoft has done their painful as fuck transition, but at least they're on the other side when it comes to touch enabled operating systems. Apple hasn't even started.
>>57249824
Apple has planned everything.
Normies will switch to iOS.
Microsoft had an event? There wasn't a sticky? hahahha Winbabby's BTFO!
How do I get better at programing /g/? I'm going into a computer science/engineering career and I want to know how you learn faster.
>inb4 meme career
I just want to know how I can learn languages faster

A) Don't ask advice from 4chan unless you're technically competent and are only asking a technical question that the dumfags/ rails devs can't answer
B) Practice on your free time
C) If you're not legitimately fascinated by CS, give up you probably won't enjoy your job or be as good as the people who do
D) Contribute to FOSS projects
E) Learn as much as possible and whatever possible
Realistically how long would it take to learn and be competent in a language like java?
I'm a month in and I just finished classes. Am I working at a decent pace?
WHAT THE FUCK MICROSOFT? YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SHIT!

> $ 2,999 PC with 28 inch + touch screen vs $ 3,400 Cintiq 24 inch
How is this even a competition.
If only they took that sort of care with Windows
I've got an Acer 4820tg with a switchable Radeon HD5650, back when switchable graphics used to be based on some weird mux.
The thing is, the 5650 apparently died while switched on, so now I can't see a thing and I can't switch to the integrated intel card.
Any ideas on how to save this fella?
Desperate bump.
>>57249523
Try to remember the workflow to switch the graphics and do it blind with arrow keys, tab and spacebar.
Try removing the dead card.
Check in Bios.
Try if windows+p does anything.
>>57249892
Yeah, sadly I can't see the bios either and the card is soldered in the motherboard. I guess I'm shit out of luck.
Lightbulbs, switches and wiring are technology, how would you solve this?
>>57249519
Old and easy
>>57249534
Pls don't share if you know the answer, but I wouldn't say it was easy.
>>57249519
Turn first switch on.
Turn second switch in a middle position when its kinda both so it flickers.
If its on, first
If it flickers, second
If none of above, third.
Just upgraded a base iMac 5k with a 6700k, 1TB 850 EVO, and 32GB of ram.
Total spent $1440 (refurb iMac) + ~700 in upgrades.
Sold the stock i5, stock hdd, stock keyboard/mouse, stock ram for around 400.
Total spent: $1740 for a 5k screen, 32gb ram, 1tb ssd, and 6700k. and I guess an r9 380 but I don't game.

How much did you spend?

If it's not a perfect allegory to the state of american society i don't know what is.
Next time save as .jpg.
There's absolutely not a single fucking reason why the picture of yours should be over 3MB in filesize.

I've always been a windows user due to its user friendly nature. After talking to many people online it seems that the general consensus is to "get gentoo"
I am by no means an experienced PC user however I would be up for the challenge if it really is that much better than windows for my purposes ( gaming, academic work, social media) It is my understanding that linux does not have support for direct x so it does not seem like a viable option to me. What are the arguments for getting gentoo and is it really worth the hassle for someone who is not a computer science expert .I'm willing to listen to what you have to say and if its really that good then I'll consider installing it.
Gentoo is needlessly complicated, it's just a meme that goes around /g/ in order to frustrate people with how cryptic and hard it is to use. Gentoo is a distro that makes you customise everything from scratch, compile almost everything from source and the entire system is pretty DIY. It's an okay distro if you want to learn more about how Linux works, but it doesn't perform that differently compared to the ton other distros out there.
>>57249354
Thanks for the advice man. What would you recommend then? Ubuntu?
>>57249392
Funtoo, Slackware, Exherbo. They're similar to gentoo but less DIY. Ubuntu is babby's first Linux, you can try out if you want.
Does anyone actually LIKE to use email? I do. It's customary and more acceptable to write longer responses, you can attach stuff, it saves all the history very well and its clearly a superior way because you can respond whenever you want to, it's not annoying and distracting like constant messaging. I mean, both have their uses, but I feel like I message everyone when some people could much better be contacted via the use of email.
I do too. I actually spent quite a few months where email was the only way to get a hold of me
I hate mails because they are ancient technology
>>57249287
I too use e-mail. Usually the more formal stuff goes through e-mail, but even less formal quite often.
Anybody successfully delidded their CPU? Was it worth it? Post your temperatures, pictures etc.
I'm thinking of buying this tool:http://www.rockitcool.com/
Delidding is only worth it if you're into extreme overclocking
If you're not into that then it's pointless work and could damage your CPU just to save a few degrees that won't matter since modern coolers and thermal pastes already keep things cool.
This is dumb af
>hey lets open up this delicate component lmao
>>57249286
It comes with risks. Don't do it unless you can afford to buy another one.
