Post your simple/small/stupid questions here
take at least 10 seconds to google first

Chrome just updated by itself and all my bookmarks are gone please tell me theres a way to get them back please
>>58490674
Your daily backups of course
>>58490674
go in to
C:\Users\<faggot_username>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default
look for a file called bookmark
if its 2kb large, its likely nothing
but look in to it, you might have your shit there, or in some backup file in there with the bookmark in name
also did you sync with google account, might have them on another device
Are there any color laser printers with
A. No botnet (https://www.eff.org/pages/list-printers-which-do-or-do-not-display-tracking-dots)
B. Work well with linux?
asking for a friend
color printers do the dots too

It makes your site more bot-friendly. That's either a good thing or a bad thing depending on the site.
>>58490513
If you care about accessibility, the later is preferred.
So this faggot is planning a presidential run.
How do I remove myself from the botnet before fuckerjew gets his dream of making privacy an outdated concept in society?
>>58490410
I fear trump might do that for him.

We have to create a new OS.
Could we potentially make a shell for Windows 10 with Gnu that puts a wall between the Microsoft doors and our data?
A virtual tin foil hat?
I just wonder because Windows 10 would be a fine os for me if it wasnt such an ORWELLIAN NIGHTMARE.
How the fuck do I stop it? I need Windows because it runs programs that WINE can't but I can't fucking stand this spyware bullshit.
>>58490570
run windows 10 without the inevitable castration by blender.
Are these things really the future of desktop PCs? Personally I think that smaller is not always better.
I doubt many people even know what a NUC is.
>>58490374
>Are these things really the future of desktop PCs?
For shitpost and facebook, maybe.
For slave wage jobs maybe.
For things that really matter, clearly no
Linus uses one of these in his home office iirc.
>dual sim card slots
>5 inch display
>at least 3000 mAh battery
>non-garbage SoC (4G, decent processor, decent ram)
Why is there no phone like this? The pixel would be perfect if it had two sim cards. Redmi 3s looks so close, but I'm worried about the 2GB of ram.
>>58490332
why do you need dual sim cards? Crime?
>>58490391
I have a work phone (Galaxy S6 Edge+) and a personal phone (Moto G).
I don't like carrying around two phones.
Why do you need more than 2 GB of RAM?
Forth and Lisp have extremely simple syntaxes with trivial parser implementations. What other extremely simple syntax formats are there?
Pic somewhat related, it's beautiful, but certainly not simple.
Had a good head-scratch, but I couldn't come up with anything that wasn't LISP-like or Forth-like (i.e., concatenative).
Brainfuck is literally the simplest.
friendly reminder that linux is so insecure that you probably have more people watching you than windows 10 does
Source faggot
At least they are the good boogie man and not the bad one.
How can someone be watching me on Linux? I can't even get the webcam to work myself. Good luck to the 1337 h4x0rz.
Recommend me a good 802.11AC AP for under $100, /g/. I can buy a Ubiquiti Unifi AC LR AP for $100 off eBay, which serves my needs.
Bampu
You get what you pay for. These cheap AP devices don't reach their speed limits. If you can live with that then get whatever highly rated device you can find because unless you are going to spend hundreds whatever /g/ seriously suggests will be outside your budget.
>>58490484
I don't really care if it doesn't reach max speeds, I'm still bottlenecked by my ISP at 100mbps and I don't have too many LAN transfers other than to my backup server.

Why Apple? You had by far the best case in the industry. Why the fuck! Honestly /g/ show me a more aesthetically pleasing case of any size.

Wrongo Friendo.
>>58490167
Real answer.
When you dont have to make a product that's easy to open by the consumer, you can save a lot of money on not having serviceable parts, thinner everything, less screws, faster assembly, and shorter life.
Its all profit.
>>58490184
That looks fucking horrible, takes so much space for slightly faster computing power.
I was viewing a screenfetch thread and I came across a theme which was named NanoOS and it was pixelated, oldish looking but cute.
The pic got deleted, but I was wondering where I could get themes like this, or this one? Thank you.

I'm not ben btw, I just happen to have this image saved.
Why do modern gaming consoles use 8 core cpu if most of the gaming workload is done by gpu?Wouldn't console perform better if you put a small, energy efficient 2-3 core cpu with beefy gpu
>inb4 go back to /v/
This is about hardwere preformnce not video games!
Because shitty little Jaguar cores are all AMD had for sale at the time of the XB1/PS4's development.
>>58490087
Sony and Microsoft chose AMD's Jaguar core arch because their perf/watt and perf/die area are very high. Though they're a relatively low clocking low power design, they do have higher IPC than prior higher power designs. Having 8 threads available, typically 6 for a game engine to utilize, provides "good enough" levels of CPU throughput.
The PS4's APU only pulls 100w~ while the Xbone's is somewhere around 60w~. The overwhelming majority of each power budget is taken up by GPU.
Its a balance of cost, power consumption, and other metrics.
>>58490087
Because, and this is important, If you bottleneck a cpu, games become fucking painful to play, if you bottleneck the gpu however, games just don't play as fast but are not painful.
according to sieges in game benchmark, i should be getting 70-120fps in that game, but because its cpu bottlenecked hard, I get stuttering and input lag so bad the game is no longer playable, it's one game with a built in benchmark but it's like this across the board.

A post from the other thread:Here's a diff file that fixes most common things from russian fellow if anyone care to build.
http://paste.fedoraproject.org/526781/32598714
use
./flower -j 1 -v --without-kde4
In root directory than fix dependencies by hand (e.g. it needs curl source code in /src/modules/ and such).
