Presto was okay, it just didn't have the mainpower to fix all bugs. Most of its bugs came from the fact that many standards were not clearly defined as to how they should behave in certain situations. Like hiding parts of fixed positioned elements by applying overflow hidden to a parent.

One of the first things Opera team did after switching to webkit was starting to fix 10+ year old bugs.

One of the most recent versions of the best browser of all time's engine's source code was leaked.
>>
>>58479900
Otter & Firefox has nice benchmark performance, but the input & render delay is pretty huge.
Its one thing to wait for a webpage to send all the data
Its an entirely different issue that if you change tab, rightclick, open a new tab, or scroll, that the page/icon/UI is delayed.

Well, Hi. I succed building it under GNU/Linux. The exact working command is:
./flower -v --without-autoupdatechecker --without-kde4 --without-gstreamer --no-color --without-plugins

The exact list of dependencies is:
libvpx-devel
yasm
gtk+-unix-print-2.0
cups-devel
sqlite-devel
perl-XML-Twig

Works like a charm, 1000 times more fuster than laggyfox. AMA anything if you stuck.

This is why Opera Presto was the best. The UI was even faster than Chrome. Nothing could compare to its raw speed.

Opera 12.16

Release notes

Release date: 2013-07-04

Opera 12.16 is a recommended upgrade offering security and stability enhancements.

Fixes and Stability Enhancements since Opera 12.15

Nothing important has changed between 12.15 and 18
>>
>>58486837
On April 23, 2014, Opera 12.17 was released as a platform-specific security update for Windows to fix the Heartbleed bug in the installer and autoupdater of Opera. The browser itself is not threatened by Heartbleed.[84]

On February 16, 2016, Opera 12.18 was released for the Windows platform. It adds support for elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) as well as Galois/Counter Mode (GCM) for encrypted connections to enable Opera 12 to connect to servers that don't allow other encryption modes anymore. In addition a security issue in the mail client was fixed.[85]
>>
>>58486540
There is also the small stuff, like it being able to run in the background without hogging performance.
Its not a big deal, but its annoying when you try a laptop, and Chrome needs to be minimized to run emulators.

The big joke is that Firefox and Chrome is both getting hungrier each year too.
>>
>>58486877
Looks like they just update openssl, lol.
>>
>>58486752
yeah 7zip comes with right click hashing by default

didn't think it was built into windows ... yet
>>
I guwss I could make an IRC channel when I get back from the gym (unless someone else makes one before then).
>>
>>58486877
Ah 12.18 sounds like it would be good to implement then, sounds like that would be a change beneficial for all platforms but those lazy fucks only did a Windows update, now we just need someone well-versed in cryptography to lend a hand...

Though if we could get a 12.15 binary built which matches with the official 12.15 it probably wouldn't be too hard to RE those changes from 12.18, we'd need to figure out Windows compiles for that though..
>>
I have an error when I try to build it :

I cannot get the download link running, when I visit https://www.opera.com/download/guide/?ver=12.18 I see pic related and I when I click the download button it redirects me to the regular stable release download site.

12.16 sucked anyway, it complained about old certificates constantly last time I tried to use it. Good memories were had and let's hope it gets revamped by somebody, but eh. If that isn't in the changelog anyway, then 12.18 sucks as well, I guess.

IMO we should just go with an IRC for now, if we get kicked off we could always go with one of these once we trust each other more

Yeah, sure. Let's stick to something really reliable like irc. I just suggested.

>Let's stick to something really reliable like irc.
It's really the best option for the beginning of projects like this, people can easily join us and stay anonymous too (don't even need a client), and once we know who the real active people are we could move to a more reliable chat, maybe even at that point someone we trust would be willing to host a matrix server
