Any bros got any ideas for surpassing a bench max plateau? Been doing this lift routine that's been pretty legit until, a six week work out. Do bench MWF.
>maxed at 180
>week 1 3x10 at 65%, 70%, and 75% max
>week 2 4x8 at 65,70,75, and 78% max
>week 3 5x6 at 65,70,75,78, and 81% max
>week 4&5 pyramids, 10 reps at 50%, 8 reps at 60%, 6 reps at 70%, 4 reps at 80%, 3 reps at 85%, then 2 reps at 90%. If I get all reps with our assistance I go up in weight. Last day of week 5 I max out again
>maxed at 195, repeat week 1-5
>maxed at 235, repeat week 1-5
>maxed at 250, repeat week 1-5
>maxed at 265, repeat week 1-5
>maxed at 270, repeat week 1-5
>maxed at 270, repeat week 1-5

This has been going on for a while. No matter what I can't get above 270 on 1RM. I'm doing all reps on pyramids for 300. I can even get 225 for 17 reps now. Any one got any ideas?

Im not lifting for strength, I'm lifting 100% for aesthetics, I just want to look good. Are deadlifts necessary for this goal? I currently have bench press, squats, and OHP in my routine, I'm thinking of adding deadlifts, will they do any difference?

Do your routine for a while and see if you like the way you look. If not, research what muscles deadlifts work and it thats what you need to work on then do them. /fit/ is mostly teenagers who have been lifting for under a year, you cant trust much here as facts.

There is no general standard for what is "aesthetic".
Lots of people who deadlift would be aesthetic in your opinion and lots of people who don't would be too.
In the end it comes down to whether or not you want to deadlift.

Hey

I moved to a new place and only got acces to a gym with dumbbells, smith machine, and barbells (not olympic ones). No squat racks.
Is there any huge disadvantage from using a smith machine for squats and OHP? My some exercises to counterbalance the disadvantages?

The main thing is that it's doesn't use stabilizer muscles but it can get the job done.

People on here will hate on it forever because it is inferior, but it's better than nothing.

You can supplement it with free weigh dumb bells like lunges, DB OHP, goblet squats, etc.

I usually foam roll or lacrosse ball about an hour before, prepare my intra workout, mix my preworkout and head to the gym. Usually I'll get to the gym and chat with people(my gym is old school and has a community and people are social), I'll shoot the shit so I don't have to when I start working.
Then i'll do prefiring and dynamic neuromuscular stabilization while drinking my preworkout, I usually listen to motivational stuff and start to drop in and get focused. Takes about 30 mins depending on what I'm doing, I do the least for pull days, slightly more for push, and longest for squats. Then I'm ready.

I don't lift for hypertrophy, but my shoulders are broad and my posture is that of someone with a strong back and core, my neckline is decent, and with a sleeveless shirt on you can see my biceps and definitions in my tris and delts. So I don't know what to tell you. Lift more and reduce bodyfat, and stop worrying about other people's opinions. Strength in mind and body are valid goals. Appearance is secondary.

Hey /fit/, got a question about building arm muscle. I've got really weak wrists from years of falling on them combined with poor nutrition(next to zero calcium). What are some ways I can work out without having to use my wrist? I can barely pick up 5 lbs without leaving my arm from the elbow down sore.

In other news, I too have a weak wrist from a crash that broke my thumb. It didnt heal correctly, so the only pushups i can do are knuckle ones as they keep my wrist straight.

Ive actually found that wrist guards that you can get from walmart or some place shitty that kids have for skateboarding tend keep my wrists straight when doing curls. Give them a try, and if they're shit, you only spent like, $5
