>What's that? Program? Oh, you know. I'm old school. I just worked the muscles that needed working.
>Deadlift? Nah, I was more of a bench guy myself. What do you bench, Anon?
>Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's about what I was putting up. Good times.

What do you look for in a gym?

Ive been thinking of opening one for a while now. Im probably going to make the move within the next 2 years so I decided to get some ideas flowing and get some ideas together.

What do you wish your gym offered that they dont? What do you wish gyms would offer that they dont? There arent plans on making a huge gym, im thinking around 3k sq ft, and I have the credentials to train as an exercise physio, however I do not have the overall experience in dealing with the general public, only athletes who have professional aspirations so when it comes to the general population, who will be my main group of interest, I dont know too much about whats interesting.

Any ideas? Just a general thread about things you wish gyms had as well.

Hey guys, I've been lifting for about a year, I'm 5'11 and 171 pounds, but I've been seriously slacking on cardio because I started as a skeletor (gained about 22 pounds in one year).

I do work out legs, and I do play sports on occasion (tennis, skiing this winter) but I rarely go running.

As a result, I can only run about 3 miles.

However, that's about to change, and as added incentive, I made a bet with my girlfriend (who casually runs 5+ miles) that I would be able to run 6 miles by June 1st.

I need some advice from experienced runners, namely answers to two questions:

1) can you suggest a specific schedule I should follow to make this happen?
2) how difficult would you rate the task I'm facing? It doesn't seem like it should give be too much trouble if I train consistently, but I may be mistaken.

Any additional advice welcome, of course.

The task is easy as fuck and just casually running once or twice a week should cut it.

Add jumping rope to your training if you don't want to leave home.
>>
Just run. Everytime you go out for a jog you will notice you will find yourself running more and more time. It's that easy bro. I usually run 3-4 times a week. Started by getting almost dead after 20 minutes of light running, I could run 1+ h easily after 3 weeks.
>>

>>36593933

Oh wow. Ok. I can do 2-3 times per week, easy. I thought there would be more to it, like running at different paces, doing intervals etc.

I usually drink coffee and then right after I pee I workout.
>>
>>36593724
I drink coffee after I go for a run, gives me a little boost on top of the endorphins for the following hour or two.
>>
immediately, under 15mins to lifting if you can.
Coffee works fast, preworkout slower.

>That post workout smoke
I've been smoking for about four years. I smoke anywhere from 1/2-3/4ths a pack a day. The numbers gone up and down depending on how stressed I am/how much driving I do.
I want to quit. What's the best method? I've considered vaping. How much does vaping cost in comparison to smoking?

I spend about $20/week, and I vape constantly. It's a rough transition, but it's definitely worth it.
>>
>>36593409
I smoked from around 17-19 yo, what got me to quit was realizing how depressing/disgusting it is. It's like choosing to slowly off yourself. Also, grills in general don't dig smokers. My advice would be don't fall for the vape meme. Just focus on slowly quitting and work up to it. It takes time. Some people can quit cold turkey but that's rare. My last stogie was on Christmas I was so drunk that I bought a pack of my old favorites American Spirit Blacks and when I woke up I threw the pack out.
>>
>>36593409
Just vape. Get a good kit and buy your stuff from these guys as it won't fucking kill you. It's really easy to learn how to mix your own shit.

Your last meal is your most important meal.
It should have most of your daily carbs.
This will improve sleep and restitution during sleep (which is when the body is supposed to repair itself)

Things you don't need to make it:
>Discipline
>Work ethic
>Autistic micro-managing of every facet of your life to squeeze out the utmost possible of gains

Things you need to make it:
>Soft skills
>Zest for life
>Optimism

If you look at successful persons, be they champion athletes, movie stars or successful business men, you will notice that none of them autistically obsesses about their field as /fit/ does. On the contrary, the obsessed guys never make it to the top.

>champion athletes, movie stars or successful business

Those things literally have nothing to do with becoming large and lean. In fact, the things you listed first are exactly what you need to become large and lean.

You are stupid and you should feel bad.
>>
>>36592813
>Bodybuilding champions
>Not champion athletes
Bodybuilders are a very good example: Themostautistic athletes in the most autistic sport, yet even they are not as obsessed as /fit/ is.

The difference between amateurs and pros is that pros train a lot less.

Example MMA:
>Amateurs: Hay Sherdog how can I juggle three SS sessions a week with my Muay Thai, MMA, Judo and BJJ, also, should I do my sprinting and push ups on MMA or on lifting days?
>Pros:1 hour of padwork and groundfight 3x a week, "power training" with sprints and machine exercises for 30+ reps 1x or 2x per week

I'm one of those guys who has a ridiculously small head that only goes well with a lot of hair, i.e. a fucking mop.

When I shave completely, I look like a fucking kid.

I'm afraid being muscular won't go with my face. I know this seems weird, but I'm not the only person who thought that. My friends told me the same several times.

I'm 19 and weigh 105lbs.

There's literally no need to take creatine as a non-athlete. There's way too many cons to take it as a hobbyist.
