Does anyone test people to see if they're worthwhile to befriend at the gym?

Personally I pretend to be DYEL and ask people for "advice" on my routine and how to deadlift and squat.

If they give good advice I know it might be worth speaking to them further.

If they give retarded advice I safely conclude they're an idiot and I can gain nothing from speaking with them so I nod, agree and ignore them from then on.

Any advise for a has-been athlete?

Four years ago, I was a senior in high school, and a very accomplished collegiate wrestler. However, pretty much immediately after I took a certain title, things took and ugly turn.
Due to mental issues I did horribly the next year in college wrestling and left the team. The next three years, I did next to nothing.
I lost all of the cardio and strength I'd earned over my seven year career.
I'm looking to take back what I once had and continue to improve from that point on.


(I am not a /fit/izen, and I don't know if this board has anything to do with things other than lifting and general fitness. Please excuse my ignorance.)

You just have to get going with something. Start lifting and eat more calories, or start lifting and eat less calories. And then stick with it.

What's an impressive one-mile pace?

What's your average pace/min?

What are your goals when it comes to running?

Also, can anyone recommend earbuds that don't fall out of the ear so damn easily? I'm thinking I'll have to get those around the ear ones but which ones are sweat-proof and high-quality?

Average pace is 10 km/h according to my phone

My goal is to literally sprint 5k. But that's a long term goal.
For now I just want to run 10km with just 1 walking pause.

I use the earbuds that came with my samsung s7. Kept them in the box for a long time but they are actually quite good and comfy. Would recommend.
