The programming is generally bad, group exercise in general is a great way to make sure everyone is doing something suboptimal for them personally, there are a lot of activities that seem designed on purpose to injure people (the main culprit here is loaded movements for time. No matter how much you scream "make sure you use good form everybody!" if people are trying for a time/racing each other you are incentivizing shit technique in favor of speed). Speaking of which, the attitude toward injury in CrossFit is also terrible. So is the attitude toward training in general; there is a persistent belief that how training "feels" correlates to training effect or adaptive stimulus, when it does not. Many CrossFit training protocols actually don't train anything (you can do them over and over and you won't get better at anything save marginal cardio gains), they're just designed to make you FEEL beat up so you can brag to all your basic bitch friends on Facebook about how hardcore you are. If it sounds like a scam designed to appeal to people with more money than sense (women especially) that's because it is. We won't even get into how shitty the standards for "coaching" are in CrossFit.
