East Texas here

need to kill these fuckers, I am out of ideas. Every time I mow my yard, they bite the shit out of my ankles even if I wear boots and socks, I have no idea how. The bites itch like crazy and make my feet swell up for like two days of pain and suffering.

I have put down Amdro twice this year which will kill them for a month maybe, then they return to terrorize my family. I think the amdro may have created a selective pressure that made them resistant to it or something, now I need something better, stronger.

What should I do, /out/? Whats the most effective way to send these shits back to hell?

Good luck fucker. Bait poison every couple months has been my best result. I moved to an old farm that was overrun and it keeps them in check.
DE, Sevin dust, fucking whatever is okay for killing surface shit, but they follow Zapp Branigan rules of combat, and you lose.
I had a pro come out and it wasn't any more effective.
Last thing I have that I haven't tried yet that I'm hopeful for is Demon WP. Shit fucks up grasshoppers and crickets like you wouldn't believe, but I haven't had to spray in 2 years.

There used to be only 2 speakers connected to this cable, however I want to make it 5.

Testing it with only 3 it lost ~90% of volume

learn about speaker impedance, young Jedi - preferably, before you fuck the amp. They all have ratings, in Ohms, you cant just string them all the fuck together at random and hope it works, load on the amp needs to be balanced.
>>
It looks like the left 2 speakers are in parallel and the one on the right is in series with them

I don't have any experience with speakers so I don't know if you want to wire them in series or parallel, google "speakers series or parallel" or something like that

What's the best way to go about making pic related? I need to make 8 as gifts in the next 3 weeks....

It looks like 2 solid pieces. With drill I would make holes halfway through and clean it with chisel. Sand it with 220 or higher for finish.
>>
>>1038826
Going out on a limb here, but if you can't figure out the how-to by yourself, you ain't gonna have the skills to do 8 in 3 weeks.

Hi there, I just came into possession of a great looking Grundig GDSM 202 microphone. Apparently a pretty sweet microphone according to everything I've read online, but it has a 3-pin DIN and I would really really like it to have XLR.

So as I'm here you can guess that I have access to a soldering iron. I've done basic rewiring before so I have an idea of what I'm getting myself into, but what, do I just chop an XLR cable and google what wires to connect to what? Apparently it's doable to make an adapter with a female MIDI being compatible with the DIN as well, but I only plan on using it for XLR so I might as well just cut out the middle and put it right on there.

Apologies if I come off as naive, but I'd really like to use this microphone.

I'm not talking about germination, I'm talking about for transplant once the plants are ready. I have little cash (I can not afford potting soil) but I can get basically unlimited used coffee grounds from the local coffee shop for free. Has anyone tried this before?

Source I got the general idea from: http://forums.gardenweb.com/discussions/1997588/coffee-grounds-as-a-planting-medium

"The seedlings in each of the planting media appear equally healthy as the first true leaves appear." So I'm thinking it shouldn't really be a problem, I would rinse the grounds thoroughly beforehand so it won't be as acidic.

I am a farmer and frankly i would not advise using ONLY coffee. You would be better off creating compost. Second, get your plants out of pots and into soil, they will thank you.
>>
>>1038618
Seedings are still growing on the nutrients left in the seed. Follow up with that forum post in a month and see how they are doing. You wont know until then.
>>
I use coffee grounds, loose tea and a bit of compost from my wormary all together. Just use a pH indicator if you're concerned.

Hey guys, BBQ weather made me get a new BBQ, since the last one has rusted through in the bottom.

Can I make a smoker out of these? I'm thinking of running dryer vent pipe from the vent in the good bbq straight to the bottom of the rusty one on the right.

Good idea, Bad idea?

just use the weber as a smoker. i've been using a kettle grill as a smoker for years.

if you want to lower the temperature, put the charcoal at one side or put it in the middle surrounding a pie plate of water

Hey I am completely new to electronics, the most I've done as far as anything is soldering a switch into an afterglow AP2 ps3 controller to act as a reset switch.

Anyway, I have a project in mind. I would like to have a tiny computer, example, raspberry pi, control a 3300kv motor. I want the tiny computer to receive instructions from a remote computer through wifi via keypress. How do I go about this? I am assuming I would need to code a program that can send and receive the instructions between the two computers. I can worry about that later.

Basically, I want to be able to use arrow keys to send instructions to a second computer to then control a 3300kv motor and the direction/speed it rotates, but need some guidance.

You want to control a motor with a switch ? You can control the direction and speed remotely without the need for 2 computers. Do you really need a rasberry pi and another pc?
>>
>>1038458
I want to have control with a bluetooth controller that sends instructions through wifi for extra range.

Seeing as you specify the kv whilebalso claiming ignorance, i'm thinking this is an RC hobby related engine (helicopter, 500mm rotor diameter is perfect for that power).

In that case, there are off-the-shelf solutions for that. I believe Castle Creations has something that matches what you're trying to achieve.

If it isn't under the flap or arm rest then there isn't one.

You can buy an aux FM transmitter that you then pick up with the cars radio, a shit solution though.

I drink two liters of Diet Coke per day, mainly by going to the nearby gas station and filling up my giant trucker mug two or three times per day. At $1.50 per refill this is relatively economical, but inconvenient and includes the ancillary costs of fuel for my car and my time (20 min per round trip).

I can't stand the taste of Diet Coke in 2L bottles because they are clearly inferior to the fresh-mixed sort you get from a fountain machine.

Who here uses these fountain dispensers in a domestic setting, and how does one reliably procure boxes of concentrate from Coca-Cola? Some initial research shows that it requires some contractual commercial bullshit with Coca-Cola to procure their syrups. How much maintenance do they require?

You are what is called in the industry a "heavy user." Whether you're actually heavy or not, fountain drink systems, while on the pricey side, don't require much maintenance. You can probably get a used system. Call Coke for the syrup, it comes in several forms which you have to match to your machine. It'll be a while before you recoup the cost of the machine.

I had a bunch of loose li-ion batteries lying around, and i'm going on a week long camping trip soon, and i'd like to have a fully charged phone the whole time, so i thought about making a huge li-ion battery pack. |
I know about the dangers of li-ion batteries, but not so much how to use them. i figure that i could use the circuit board out of this new battery bank that i bought to charge them all to the exact same voltage, then wire them up in parallel to act as one big 3.7v battery, than i then hook up to the battery bank's circuit board. obviously, i plan on adding a switch to cut off the batteries to the circuit and maybe a flashlight too.
my question is, will hooking up a total of 9 batteries in total damage the board, and will it damage the cells keeping them linked up all in parallel?
